MEET OUR 1st JUDGE OF THE WEEK
JILL CRONCHEY from Geelong, Victoria, Australia
1) Home city?
Geelong, Victoria Australia
2) Breed or Breed’s you have bred? Dobermans, Great Danes, Bearded Collies. My mother bred Miniature Poodles in the U.K, I have owned and shown a Shetland Sheepdog 3) Years you have been Judging?
Since 1972
4) Licensed for or, on Permit for?
Licensed for 5 Groups in Australia
5) Judged in what Countries? Australia, New Zealand, England, Ireland, Finland 6) All time favourite assignment? Bearded Collie Club (UK) Golden Jubilee 7) Favourite dog or dogs Judged from the past? A Bearded Collie in Finland Doberman in Ireland, Shetland Sheepdog in New Zealand, A Whippet, ShihTzu and Pembroke Corgi here in Australia. 8) Pet Peeve’s in your ring? Dogs with poor temperament, and Handlers that move dogs far to fast 9) Favourite way to relax?
Spending time with my 7 Beardies
10) How do you occupy your time in travel? By air I read, in the car I talk 11) What do you think is the biggest problem facing our Sport? Our biggest problems are from outside influences. Within the Sport indiscriminate breedings pose the greatest problem. I also believe individual breed specific movement is being lost with the belief, many have that the fastest go around the ring is best…
THANK YOU JILL CRONCHEY! WELCOME TO TopDogWeekly AND TO CANADA!
PLEASE WELCOME OUR 2nd JUDGE of the WEEK Lyn Norman, Victoria, Australia
1) Home city? St. Leonards, a small seaside village situated on Port Phillip Bay, Victoria. Australia 2) Breed or Breed’s you have bred? I have exhibited and bred Bearded Collies since 1983. I began my show career exhibiting Keeshonden for 10 years and Bichon Frise for a short time before concentrating on Beardies. 3) Years you have been Judging? I started judging at Open show level in 1979. 4) Licensed for or, on Permit for? All Breeds. I obtained my All Breeds license in 1995. 5) Judged in what Countries? Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, South Africa, Finland and the United Kingdom. 6) All time favourite assignment? Judging the Bearded Collie Club Victoria Championship Show and judging Keeshonden to CC Level at Darlington Ch. Show in the UK. 7) Favourite dog or dogs Judged from the past? Have been lucky to have judged many quality dogs. 8) Pet Peeve’s in your ring? Over handling of exhibits, exhibits not moved at the correct speed for their breed. 9) Favourite way to relax? Reading, catching up with friends and family and being amused at/or frustrated by the antics of “Bella” my latest Beardie. 10) How do you occupy your time in travel? Going to dog shows, sightseeing, visiting friends, usually “doggie ones” and getting lost. Amazing what you find when “lost”. 11) What do you think is the biggest problem facing our Sport? Declining number of exhibitors and dogs. Showing ability overriding quality in the ring. Anti-dog lobbies. The Internet has made communicating a positive, but it is turning people away from our fancy with negativity and scandalous comments.
THANK YOU LYN NORMAN! WELCOME TO TopDogWeekly AND TO CANADA!
