To ease the burden on the learners that were affected by the pandemic, Misamis Oriental General Comprehensive High School launched a voluntary collection for the first quarter of SY 2021-2022 and collected P131,000.

Unnumbered Memorandum s. of 2021 was disseminated by the school administration last September 2, The Creativity and Innovation of the Brigada Eskwela working committee, Barya para sa Pandemya, an innovation to generate income the whole year round to be facilitated by all teachers during distribution and retrieval of Self-Learning Modules. The generated amount will be used to purchase anti-COVID health materials given to the stakeholders.
However, in an interview conducted by the student journalists, they stated that the program’s purpose was to help the school to acquire materials, particularly students’ needs including urgent needs that can’t be purchased by the school’s MOOE (Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses).
Chairman of the Creativity and Innovation Committee, Charina L. Bajolo said, “The parents and students benefit from the program because they are given free COVID supplies like alcohol and masks. The teachers will also benefit from it since we provide what they need. The Science Department acquired recording equipment to use for their online lessons as well as seedlings for tree-planting, the Math Department acquired computers and a printer for their laboratory, and the MAPEH Department acquired vitamins and study tables. The school staff received personal protective equipment (PPE).”
Co-chairman Maria Salvacion Josefa B. Mainar added that they were surprised by the stakeholders’ response in supporting and heartily donating bills instead of coins. However, there were some discrepancies in their claims.

Engr. Vincent Alex R. Reyes from the Math Department confirmed that they received computers and a printer for their laboratory.
These are outputs provided by the program despite DepEd Order No. 41, s. 2012 stating the No Collection Policy, be implemented especially during the pandemic.
The school’s Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses failed to provide what is needed.
