Machel takes Road March TRINIDAD (TE) -- Triple-crown winner Machel Montano said he will “gladly accept” a role as an official cultural ambassador of T&T if offered at this time. Planning and Development Minister Bhoe Tewarie suggested on Tuesday that “Machel should lead the charge in selling Trinidad and Tobago internationally”. In an interview at the Grand Stand, Queen’s Park Savannah, in Port of Spain, Tewarie said this will be his proposal when the discussion comes up in Cabinet.
In response to the suggestion, Montano said: “I will glady accept this offer because I think its something I’ve been doing since I was nine years old. I think we have been putting tourism on our front board whenever we go to Madison Square Garden (New York, USA), whenever we have a great Carnival, whenever we release great music; I think it makes people want to buy a ticket and come to Trinidad and Tobago. Kudos to this Government, beyond the others in the past, for recognising who we are and what we do and how much it contributes to the economics of the country and
the infrastructure of a nation moving forward.” Montano, his manager, James Walton, and producer/musical director, Kernal Roberts, addressed the media at a news conference held in the Sapphire Room at the Hyatt Regency Hotel and Conference Centre in Port of Spain yesterday evening, following the announcement he had won the 2012 Road March title, in addition to his two victories in the Groovy and Power Soca Monarch competitions. operations, referred to Dole Chadee “as one of the premier traffickers, one of the most significant, and one of the smartest in the Eastern Caribbean”. Chadee was no stranger to the law, though, and had been arrested numerous times for a plethora of criminal offences. But, prosecutors never could make any charges stick, and so he walked free time and again.
TRINIDAD (TG) -- Strategic location In the early 1980s, new drug trafficking routes were required to push greater consignments of cocaine from Central America to the wider world, where demand was fast outpacing supply. The Caribbean Basin region, with a strategic location that allows for cargo to be shipped easily to either of the two major continents, was quickly utilised as a major transshipment point.

The Scott Drug Commission thus reported on a “juncture when the Medellin cartel was flooding Trinidad and Tobago with kilo bricks for movement through the Caribbean Island chain to the United States and Europe”. But, despite the report containing a welter of information about the intricacies of drug trafficking here in this country, no concrete action was ever taken to dismantle these local networks and/or to target the individuals involved. The Mexican-based British reporter, Ioan Grillo, in writing his seminal ten-year study of Mexican drug gangs, entitled El Narco, explains how corruption and political indifference over time, played a significant part in shaping a criminal insurgency that was responsible for almost 13,000 murders in the last year alone: “The drug market was a fraction of the size of today, and officials didn’t see it as a huge deal. In this system, heroin money was just one more kickback flowing up. Everybody was happy and stayed in line because everybody got paid.” Replace Grillo’s reference to “heroin” with the word “cocaine”, and the journalist could just as easily have been talking about Trinidad and Tobago. By 1994 then, a man whose name had featured prominently in the Scott Commission Drug Report ten years earlier, had risen to become one of the most feared drug barons in Trinidad and Tobago. From his base in central Trinidad, Nankissoon ‘Dole Chadee’ Boodram had tentacles that seemed to extend across all sectors of society. Jerome Harris, one-time head of the US Drug Enforcement Agency’s Caribbean
It was only in 1993, that Chadee and his two cousins had been charged with the shooting death of St Clair McMillan. However, Cuthbert “Scotty” Charles, the main prosecution witness, would be kidnapped and murdered in Carenage a few days before he was due to give evidence, and the case against the Chadee trio collapsed. Dole Chadee seemed untouchable, and his legend grew exponentially with every folded case. Maybe it happened that Chadee himself started to believe his own hype, we will never really know. Nevertheless, by ordering the death of an entire Williamsville family, Chadee would set in train a sequence of events that would lead to his ultimate downfall. The Teflon don from Piparo didn’t yet know it, but he had in effect signed his own death warrant. A murder too far Hamilton “Mice” Baboolal had been a part of Chadee’s crew, before a fatal lapse in judgment persuaded him to steal some cocaine from his employer to sell for his own profit. On the night of January 9, 1994, Chadee summonsed his psychotic killer-inchief, Joey Ramiah, to his farmhouse in Piparo, where he handed out guns and masks to Ramiah and (other) members of his feared gang. He made it quite clear that he wanted Mice and everyone in that Williamsville house dead. The gang of ten drove the short distance to the Baboolal home in Williamsville, and went to work. Hamilton “Mice” Baboolal, his sister Monica, and parents Rookmin and Deo, were made to kneel on the floor and then shot through the heads. On searching the rest of the house, gang member Levi Morris came across 11-year-old Osmond Baboolal, and his 9-year-old sister, Hematee, cowering in one of the bedrooms. Morris hid the children under a bed, and reported back that the house was empty. With the job done, the gang drove back to Piparo to inform the Boss. Even by our society’s depraved standards, the Baboolal murders were seen as beyond the pale and sent shockwaves through the country. The police immediately suspected the hand of Chadee in the hit, but with no conclusive evidence, and no credible eyewitnesses, the trail soon went cold. Continued On Page 4

Jumo “Rubber Waist” Primo is Soca King
GUYANA (DW) -- In what can be termed a surprise to some patrons of the 2012 Carib Soca Monarch Finals, Jumo”Rubber Waist” Primo Sunday morning walked away with the coveted Carib Soca Monarch prize of $1.5M for his spectacular performance at the National Park. The runners up are Linden’s George Anthony Abrams; who came in second and who also copped the prize for highest scoring newcomer; followed in third position by Adrian Dutchin. Though he is the recipient of over $500,000, when his name was announced as the second runner-up, Abrams looked none too pleased as he, along with his entourage from Linden, was expecting to cop the top spot.
The competition began at approximately 11:00pm at which time the stage was graced with the “unexpected but expected” presence of the duo Mysterious and Tropical Guys whose act portrayed a news report that they were involved in an accident and as such would not be able to make it to perform. A while later the same “newscast announced that the duo would beat all odds to perform “Regardless” of their condition. On cue the two were brought in via ambulance and were seen entering the stage dressed in bandages, and accompanied by fireworks and balloons; four of which were released as a tribute to the departed “Fathers of the Nation” - Forbes Burnham, Cheddi Jagan, Hubert Nathaniel Critchlow and Walter Rodney. Their performance, which was well received by the audience, set the scene for an evening filled with exuberance and surprise acts by the other contestants that followed. Immediately after the duo, a patriotic Adrian Dutchin appeared onstage preceded at first by a series of boo’s from the audience. Dutchin was decked out in a white military suit, trimmed with the five colours of the Golden Arrowhead, and accompanied by dancers outfitted to represent the six races along with men on stilts. His surprise came in the form of men outfitted in the uniforms of Guyana’s Golden Jaguars football team. Though he engaged the crowd on being a proud “Guyanese” and garnered their response, this popular artiste was given a lukewarm sendoff, similar in a sense to the welcome he received after being announced onstage.
Next was the well-loved and now popular “African Moods”, performed by Granny Ivelaw. Fully equipped with a homely scene; complete with living room and television, and kitchen and its accompaniments, Ivelaw’s act depicted a nagging husband lamenting his “Moods”-crazed wife who neglected to perform her matrimonial duties. During his performance the popular actor/ dancer gave the audience a glimpse of what was to be expected come Mash Day, in the form of an Afro-cultural dance. Following Granny Ivelaw’s performance, patrons were given a surprising and somewhat heart shaking treat as Wilburg B52 Levans; a fireman by profession, entered on a fire truck and was transported above the audience towards the cordoned-off stage via the hydraulic fire ladder. His act was accompanied by firemen on stilts and fire-bearing backup men who converged on the roof. As he sang his piece “Highly Flammable”, Levans was soon accompanied by a beautifully attired “Fire angel” of sorts. He was given a reasonable sendoff by the crowd. Beverly “Little B” Smith was next with “Down de Road”, and she appeared with a Mash entourage and band, and decked in a yellow two-piece Mashramani costume. Though her energy was good, Little B proved not to be much of a crowd favorite, as the audience was cool. Chadee signs his death warrant Continued From Page 2 - Four months later, Clint Huggins, one of the gang who was present at the murder scene, walked into a police station and decided to become a state’s witness. Dole Chadee was again arrested and charged with murder. This time though, a combination of overlapping factors would ensure that there was no escape for the great Trinbagonian Houdini. Other local crime syndicates had been eyeing up Chadee’s massive slice of the cocaine pie with some envy, and so with him behind bars, they made their move.
Many of those within the corridors of power, some of whom were themselves linked to the drug trade, also felt that Chadee had become too big for his own boots. Thus, both sides of the law and order spectrum, criminal elements on the one hand, and those sworn to protect and serve on the other, would set about ensuring that Chadee’s fall from grace was permanent. Despite all of this, Chadee still had sufficient clout to reach out from behind the walls of the gaol on Frederick Street in Port-of-Spain, and kill Clint Huggins at a second time of asking. But, when Levi Morris calculated that a life spent looking over his shoulder was still better than one dangling away at the end of a noose, and decided to turn state’s witness, Dole Chadee must have realised that
his race was run. Over the course of three days in early June 1999, Chadee and the remaining eight members of his gang would be hanged by the neck until they were dead. However, if the authorities believed that Dole Chadee’s hanging would bring some semblance of peace and stability back to these islands, then they had grossly miscalculated. That particular genie had long since escaped its bottle. One former Trinidad & Tobago diplomat, speaking to me after a security conference in London last year, explained that “many people who owed the Chadee franchise thought that they no longer had to pay up. What these people didn’t realise, though, was that the money owed to Chadee, was money owed to the Colombians. And they soon came to collect.” Kidnap for ransom would be their modus operandi. Unleashing a wave of violence The Colombians had in fact signalled their intent two years prior, when Dole Chadee’s brother, Thackoor Boodram, was kidnapped from his home on December 20,1997, and a $5 million ransom demanded for his safe return. When the deadline expired, police officers received an anonymous call directing them to a Johnny Walker whisky box placed on top of a bench in Mosquito Creek.
Newsday reporter Ken Chee Hing explained the scene that greeted him on his arrival. “The lower corner of the box was stained with blood and a thin thread of blood had leaked out onto the dirt. Without a word, one of the officers used the barrel of his SLR and tipped the box over. Out rolled the severed head of Thackoor Boodram”. Another school of thought suggests that Thackoor Boodram’s hit had been ordered by rivals from a local syndicate, who, with Dole Chadee locked up and facing execution, were looking to cement their place at the top by removing the last vestiges of his cartel. Whatever the real reasons behind Thackoor Boodram’s murder, his death, and the state execution of his brother two years thereafter, would trigger a wave of tit-for-tat kidnapping and counter-kidnapping that went on for several years. It was a macabre cycle of murder and even bloodier retribution. Some of the victims were high-profile, many others were not, a grisly end their only common feature. With the authorities seemingly unable to cope, kidnapping soon morphed from being a staple of those fighting for control of lucrative international drug routes, to the stockin-trade practised by criminals of all ilks. It seemed that anybody who had enough money to buy two or three decent pairs of sneakers, or who sported a heavy gold chain around
their neck, was thought to be fair game. The high tonnage of cocaine flowing through these islands also meant that the inevitable run-off into the local stream presented an opportunity for those willing and able to take advantage. Smaller and less organised criminal elements started to kill each other, fighting to be ‘top dogs’ on the drugs blocks of Port-of-Spain, San Fernando, Arima, and beyond, which were now awash with a deadly combination of crack cocaine and plenty guns. The economy of violent crime, which had usually been subservient to the needs of those engaged in the drug-trafficking trade, was beginning to take on a life of its own. On September 11, 2001, 19 men walked through passport control in cities on the eastern seaboard of the United States, and boarded flights for internal destinations. Hours later, Uncle Sam would come to the stark conclusion that the quantity of drugs flowing through his southern flank was the very least of his concerns. Thus, as the US “began to draw down its presence and engagement in the Caribbean,” and tilted its head towards the Middle East, Trinidad and Tobago, as did many other Caribbean islands, was shunted across the Rubicon and on towards a point of no return.

He said: “From Machel Monday, to Fantastic Friday to now, Ash Wednesday, we really had a goal—we set out to make history this year, and I wanna thank all those who made it possible. Not just my team and my family but all the flag crews, all the girls crews, even the food crews who kept us healthy and gave us food to pump. I especially wanna thank all the masqueraders for choosing my song for 2012. This year
“This song had its own personal saga and we must thank our mothers,” said Roberts, “Elizabeth Montano and Valerie Greene, for sitting with us. We had an executive meeting with them both for the first time a few weeks ago where they basically convinced us that we should believe in ourselves and the song and ride it to the end. We had a lot of different mixes, and it took Precision Productions, working with Kitch and Penn and Ace out of St Lucia, all of us working together to make ‘Pump Yuh Flag’ what it is today.” This season’s triple victory takes Montano and Robert’s career winnings to include five Road March titles each, with Montano also claiming three Soca Monarch titles (Power in 2011 and both in 2012) and Roberts having produced and written three, as well with “Palance” in 2010, “Advantage” in 2011 and “Pump Yuh Flag” in 2012.

Guyana Soca King Continued From Page 3 - once again failed to appeal much to the crowd, with their acts that entailed persons dining on Church’s Chicken and Carib Beer and a mini Mash band, respectively. Kendingo fittingly appeared onstage at minutes after midnight and at the end of his act threw a few cans of beer into the audience. Rubber Waist was next in line with his anticipated “ One People One Nation One Destiny” song. He did not disappoint as during his performance he paused and had the crowd’s undivided attention on the big screen with a speech from former Guyanese President Forbes Burnham expounding on the importance of every race in Guyana. Soca Monarch 2010 King, Bones Man followed Jumo with “Republic Day”. In his act, the monarch stated his intention to keep the crown and engaged the crowd for awhile on the true importance and signifi-
cance of the Soca Monarch. Next came George Anthony Abrams’ “Lime Tomato Celery Seasoning, Wine Attack”. A definite crowd pleaser, the young performer was at first forced to restart his act, as the mike he was given unexpectedly went dead. Nevertheless, amidst some shouts of “sabotage”, Abrams returned with even more energy and totally won over the crowd, who went on roaring even after he had left the stage. It can be said the he gained the most response from the very hard to please crowd, but this apparently was not enough to earn him the crown. Policeman Roger Rowen was next and he too was accompanied by a fire-tender.He awed the crowd during his performance when he was lifted off the stage by the fire tender’s hydraulic ladder and suspended in the air directly above the crowd, where he performed the rest of his act.
As was the case during the semi finals in Linden, Jonathan Lil Red King failed to capture the crowd’s approval as he sang “hold me tight” and was accompanied by dancers who portrayed what can only be termed as vulgarity to the highest.

Her act was preceded by an entourage depicting an African slave ship and the sound of slaves being beaten along with their screams of pain. Vanilla was dressed in royal purple and gold African wear and her dancers in animal-toned costumes.
The contestants were again judged for their lyrics, construction of song, lyrical performance, intonation, melody, originality, party appeal, stage presentation, stage performance, and crowd response. Judging the competition were Shawn Bhola, DJ Rocky Carew, Margaret Lawrence, Winston Zar Ceasar, acting Deputy Mayor Patricia Chase-Greene, Major General Robert Burns, Barbadian Musical Producer Denis Ward, and Chief Judge Lennox Canterbury.
The final competitor was King Shepherd Semple with “Wuk Up On It”. His act was totally won over by the audience as they roared at his long-awaited appearance. He too did not disappoint, as he had the

Foods with Anti-Inflammatory properties anti-inflammatory in both the Chinese and Indian systems of medicine.
Trish Browning Contributor My last article sparked an interest in our readers and many of then are looking forward to the follow up article for a list of foods that contain properties that are known to lower inflammation. It’s not just arthritis sufferers who need an anti-inflammatory. Researchers now believe that inflammation contributes to heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s and type 2 diabetes and that anti-inflammatory compounds in your food can counteract it. You don’t have to go out of your way to find these substances. Most of these foods are readily available in your local supermarket and many of them are already included in our diets. I believe that with education and appreciation of what these foods are capable of, we can now make more of an effort to include them more regularly in our diet. Turmeric has long been used as a powerful
Ginger works in a way similar to turmeric to lower inflammation and in some studies has been shown to reduce pain associated with arthritis. Beets are a unique source of phytonutrients called betalains. Betanin and vulgaxanthin are the two best-studied betalains from beets, and both have been shown to provide antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and detoxification support. Salmon is an excellent source of EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), two potent omega-3 fatty acids that reduce inflammation. Green Tea is a potent natural anti-inflammatory. It has been shown in numerous studies to reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer. Broccoli is a highly nutritious vegetable that contains anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer phytonutrients such as sulforaphane, which helps the body to rid itself of potentially carcinogenic compounds. Cabbage is abundant is Vitamin C. You

FDA Declares Form of Vitamin B6 a Drug Deborah Allen The Healthy Diva FDA Declares Form of Vitamin B6 a Drug, Effectively Banning Pyridoxamine from Dietary Supplements Learn more: http://www.naturalnews.com As the granddaughter and daughter of diabetics I found the FDA Statement regarding Vitamin B6 disturbing. Having had many clients who have benefitted from using Vitamin B6 to repair liver, glucose and kidney issues I am disturbed at this decision. Here is a short article on natural food sources you can use to supplement your diet in the event we are unable to get this important nutrient into our diets with supplements. I chose whole foods over supplements but not everyone venturing into the healthy living lifestyle is able to select whole foods immediately…it may take some individuals a bit of time to learn a routine and in the meantime they use a supplement. What is Vitamin B6 Vitamin B6 is a nutrient that regulates and manages many of your body’s functions, from the metabolism of protein to your blood sugar levels and the delivery of oxygen to your body’s tissues. According to the Linus Pauling Institute, your body can’t make its own vitamin B6, …Vitamin B6, also known as pyridoxine, is a water-soluble vitamin. The body cannot synthesize or store it so humans need to get it from diet or a supplement. B6 is needed to form red blood cells, maintain nerve function and for a healthy immune system. It is also necessary for the formation of more than 100 enzymes needed for various functions in the body, including the release of glucose into the blood from stored glycogen and the breakdown of protein in the diet. Vitamin B-6 is a water-soluble vitamin in the B complex. It exists in three forms: pyroxidal (PL), pyridoxine (PN) and pyridoxamine (PM). B-6 functions as a coenzyme in various metabolic processes including red blood cell formation, functioning of the immune and nervous systems, and as a vital component in protein metabolism. Method of Absorption B-6 is absorbed in the small intestine by passive diffusion. Through a series of enzymatic reactions it is converted to pyridoxal phosphate (PLP), the main form of the vitamin that is used as a coenzyme.
PLP is transported to the liver, where approximately 5 to 10 percent is stored. The remaining PLP is transported to extrahepatic tissues where it undergoes hydrolysis to be taken in by the cells. Because of its absorption through passive diffusion, large quantities of the vitamin are taken in. Excess B-6 is excreted through the urine. Factors Influencing Absorption Individuals with a poor quality diet lacking in many nutrients may have low levels of B-6. Alcohol may also inhibit the absorption of B-6 because it promotes the destruction and secretion of the vitamin. The asthma medication theophylline also decreases stores of B-6. Medications and Supplements Certain medications and supplements make your body less able to absorb vitamins B-6 Antibiotics and some seizure and diabetes medicines may inhibit absorption. Proton pump inhibitors that treat peptic ulcer disease and gastroesophageal reflux disease as well as histamine H2 receptor antagonists can also inhibit absorption. Changing medications or supplements may allow your body to better absorb these vitamins. Alcohol Alcohol also promotes a loss of vitamin B-6 in your body. Reducing your alcoholic intake may help you absorb and keep important vitamins. B-6 Foods B6 is found in many different foods, which makes it easier to boost your intake if your levels are dipping. According to the World’s Healthiest Foods website, seafood and meats contain on average 25 to over 50 percent of the recommended daily allowance for vitamin B6. Many fruits and vegetables are dietary sources of B6 as well, including spinach, bell peppers, bananas, garlic, cantaloupe, cabbage, asparagus, sweet potato, strawberries, pineapple, avocado and cauliflower. Vegetable sources of vitamin B6 are plentiful. They include: beans, such as garbanzo and lima; legumes, such as peas; greens, such as mustard, turnip, collard and spinach; cruciferous vegetables, such as cauliflower, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, kale and cabbage; and bell peppers and asparagus. Potatoes, especially baked and including the skin, are another good source of B6.
You can also get B-6 from sunflower seeds, wheat germ, lentils, spinach, beans, carrots and brown rice. Most multivitamins have B-6 in them and come in several options, from softgels to children’s chewable tablets. The University of Maryland Medical Center advises that you take supplements after a meal and with water for best results. First check with your doctor before taking vitamin B-6 supplements.
Several fruits and vegetables, including potatoes, bananas, sweet potatoes and avocados, provide significant amounts of vitamin B6. The richest plant-based sources of the vitamin are potatoes and bananas, according to the Swedish Medical Center Health Library. One medium potato, baked with skin, contains about 0.70 mg vitamin B6, while a medium banana contains about 0.68 mg. Sweet potatoes are next, with about 0.27 mg in one tuber baked with skin. Avocados provide about 0.20 mg per 1/2-cup serving. Legumes and Nuts Legumes and nuts are also rich in vitamin B6, according to the National Institutes of Health Office of Dietary Supplements. Garbanzo beans, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, walnuts, lentils, soybeans and lima beans all contain the vitamin. Garbanzo
beans, also known as chickpeas, contain the most vitamin B6 out of all the nuts and legumes, about 0.57 mg per 1/2-cup serving. This equates to about 30 percent of the recommended daily value. Lima beans contain about 0.10 mg per 1/2-cup serving, the least amount among the legumes listed. Other non-meat sources of vitamin B6 are walnuts, hazelnuts, sunflower seeds, Crimini mushrooms and fortified cereals. Grains Whole grains, particularly wheat bran flakes and Organic all bran cereal, are considered exceptionally high sources of vitamin B6, according to “Discovering Nutrition” by Paul Insel. Other whole grains that contain vitamin B6 include brown rice and oatmeal. Source: Livestrong.com

Your Horoscope - March 2012 Aries Horoscope (March 21-April 20): Even though the determined focus is still on your work, it will be important to stop and tend to your relationship especially on Tuesday, the day of the Libra (relationships) Full Sun/Moon. It is a good idea to stop everything (work) and create something big, communicative, and very loving for your “other.” The planets demand it. And you’ll reap great consequences.
Taurus Horoscope (April 21-May 21): Something that has been somewhat of an unintegrative opposition comes both into focus and then synthesis. Perhaps it’s about resources, a move, your creativity (which you don’t often recognize) or a love affair (some of us, others, not), you’ll need to apply detail and discrimination to whatever occurs. A new seed is about to sprout. What is it?
Libra Horoscope (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): You begin a new order of things, a New World Order focused within your life now and it’s very personal. Your energy expands along with enthusiasm for what’s to come. You will work better with others to achieve goals in common. Your relationship(s) yield greater pleasure and significance. Communicate as if your life counted on it. Scorpio Horoscope (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): It’s time, actually overtime, to realize that you are not your personality but that you are the Soul. Realizing this creates a unity that facilitates harmony within all the endeavors you set out to accomplish. Through you the plan of Creation is brought to Earth. I know you may think this is too profound. But it’s true. Eventually your creative intelligence will inform you of this reality.
Gemini Horoscope (May 23-June 20): Some of you wrote and asked about family genealogy last Month (what do I mean?). Well, since the Virgo planets are still in your 4th (house and family and mother), it could be that instead of genealogy, you’re coordinating, directing, organizing, ordering, and cleaning your home desperately (like a Virgo). Keep going. Only one more Month left.
Sagittarius Horoscope (Nov. 22-Dec. 20): Some sort of information will impact you, bringing a more philosophical slant to your self-image. You may be curious about something. Perhaps how others see you. Look into this through the group you interplay with. But don’t look too deeply lest you come away with unexpected information. Look instead to the future. It’s coming fast and you’ll need to be very prepared.
Cancer Horoscope (June 21-July 20): All issues dealing with family begin to accelerate. Something big is about to occur and you go into full speed planning and organizing mode. It’s a good thing all that Virgo has entered your 4th house of home and family. Without it everything would be rather askew. Many issues are involved. Possible move, a family celebration, and in many ways, a family renewal. Maintain rest and have courage.
Capricorn Horoscope (Dec. 21-Jan. 20): The most important activity you must bring forth is that of support. Support others who may disagree with you. Give them lots of time to digest whatever you say. After a while they come around. Allow others their mistakes and don’t present yourself as the one who only gives orders. Enter everyone’s reality with care, especially children’s. Speak words that are loving and patient. Reflect everyone. Anything else hurts you.
Leo Horoscope (July 21-Aug. 22): Issues concerning your resources will take one last stand before the issue of communication (and possible travel) comes into focus. Know that increased income and a sense of self as valuable are most important. Next up will be the fact that it’s through how well you communicate and make contact that your resources expand and then flow toward you. Words are to be used for creating Right Human Relations. You know that. Virgo Horoscope (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): There will be many thoughts in your mind leading to imaginative thinking. One thought will be concern for your health, which you must tend to in a more holistic manner. Careful with any drugs. You may need half the dosage. Should you feel that it’s time for a breakdown, allow yourself a few moments and then put yourself back together again. You’re a bit in solitude these days. So you can figure out your heart’s desires. This is Vesta.
Aquarius Horoscope (Jan. 21-Feb. 18): Something far away beckons to you. The outcome may be a long trip or a philosophical maneuver that allows you more information. You may be seeking an intimate other; thinking this will soothe your sometime woes. It doesn’t and won’t. Instead, seek balance and order and discipline wherever you find yourself. The Soul will do the rest (holding you). Pisces Horoscope (Feb. 18-March 20): Present yourself to the world very professionally. Take extra care with how you dress yourself and how you speak. The world is watching in order to take cues from your actions. Care is needed also with partners, colleagues, and with resources. Tend to all these with loving yet ordered focus. As your entire life moves into change on all levels, how you care for self and resources will hold you steady.

Citizens Continue to Fight to Curb the Powers of the 407 ETR Tammy Flores Contributor Stop the 407 ETR’s Abuse of Power continues, relentlessly to push for change in how the 407 ETR is handled by the Province. In the last article we touched on the topic of P3’s and how it was Canada’s new way of funding larger infrastructure projects. Being that the 407 ETR is a biproduct of a P3 we decided to dig deeper into the topic and uncovered some unsettling facts. We will keep you posted as we demand answers to questions we have. What we know is that, the Minister of Transportation at the time this deal was struck was Tony Clement. Yes, this is the same Tony Clement that is now part of the Federal Government as the President of the Treasury Board. At the time, MPP Clement did not handle the sale of the interest in highway 407’s operations. A whole ministry was set up to handle this transaction and Minister of Transportation Clement kept an eye on things at a distance. A Minister without Portfolio was given responsibility for privatization. His name was Rob
Sampson. Mr. Sampson was rewarded with the position of Minister of Corrections Services until Ernie Eves sacked him in 2003. He is now a high paid consultant to the Federal Government trying to Privatize jails through the back door.
I received a legal opinion from the City of Oshawa today that stated regarding the 407 ETR their “powers may only be exercised in accordance with the terms and conditions of an agreement between the Minister for Privatization and the Owner.” So naturally, I start to call around to find out who the Minister for Privatization is. Guess what? There is no Ministry for Privatization. As I pushed, Ryan from the Liberal Caucus became defensive, but I pushed on undaunted in questioning him. Ryan revealed that there was no Minister without Portfolio either. I find this hard to believe since the 407 ETR’s powers can only by exercised in accordance with an agreement with this phantom Minister. I am now waiting for clarification from the Ministry of Transportation. If the 407 ETR can only exercise their powers by way of an agreement with the Minister for Privatization and that Minister does not exist, neither does the 407 ETR’s powers as far as I am concerned. We want to know the social/economic impact driving on this highway has had on you. Please write to Stop the 407 ETR’s Abuse of Power, 75 Bayly Street, PO Box
