OFFICIAL SQUAMISH ADVENTURE GUIDE

Christie-Images.com

The New York Times named Squamish as one of the top “52 Places to Go in 2015”. Visitors to Squamish are “drawn by an unusual combination of West Coast wilderness and accessibility. Hundreds of trails weave through Pacific rain forest to glacial lakes, waterfalls and peaks. Kiteboarders ply a 26-mile fjord, adventurers climb 2,300-foot Stawamus Chief, and birders gather for the annual return of thousands of bald eagles.”

Squamish made another list this year, the International Traveller’s ‘100 Things to do in Canada Before You Die’. The article notes that “the Sea to Sky Gondola is perhaps the easiest and most pleasant way to reach the summit of one of Canada’s prettiest mountains”.

Vacay.ca published its list ’20 Best Places to Visit in Canada for 2016’ and Sea to Sky Country took the #1 spot! Vacay.ca states that “Squamish has risen to prominence as a destination because of its array of outdoor activities”.

Pavilion Park Boulder Josh McCulloch

Where to.... Watch climbers on the Chief? The Grand Wall is the stunning expanse of steep, shear granite on the face of the Chief. It is home to the most famous rock climbing in Canada. To watch the climbers high on the walls, park at the Stawamus Chief Provincial Park and wander over to the grassy picnic area by the blue pedestrian overpass. Don’t forget your binoculars for an up close look!

Watch kiteboarders and windsurfers? When the wind picks up in the afternoon in the summer, you can watch the amazing kiteboarders and windsurfers at the Squamish Oceanfront and Squamish Spit (spectators are free)! It is exciting watching them leap into the air and carving across Howe Sound. Hang out on the beach and
