I think winter gets a bad rap when all is said and done. I think we should all appreciate it for the joy that comes along with it. Yes, it might be dreary and gloomy, and not to mention a little ghastly out. That’s right, I said, “ghastly,” but there is still so much to shine about my fairweather friends! DEMENTIA VS NORMAL AGING Age 55Y & Up | Town Staff
Have you ever worried whether some of the memory challenges you or a loved one are experiencing are "normal"? Could they be a sign of something else? As we age, our brains and our bodies undergo changes. We may experience instances where we process information more slowly, or we may have trouble recalling names or dates; these can be examples of typical age-related changes. But what are the indicators that these changes may be due to something more serious such as mild cognitive impairment or dementia? When might it be time to visit the doctor or to get an evaluation? What you will learn: Age related changes that nearly everyone experiences. Explanations for the onset of mild cognitive impairment that don't always indicate dementia. Learn how someone gets evaluated for dementia, and more! Raindrop Suncatchers LOOKING FOR A WAY TO OCCUPY YOUR LITTLE ONES (OR MAYBE EVEN YOURSELF) ON A RAINY DAY? LET’S MAKE RAINDROP SUNCATCHERS! SUPPLIES:
STEPS:
• Blue crayons
1. Pick as many different shades of blue from the crayon box as you’d like.
• Pencil or crayon sharpener
2. Peel the paper off the crayons you chose.
• Waxed paper
3. Over waxed paper, carefully sharpen the crayons. Evenly spread the shavings on top of the waxed paper while you sharpen the crayons.
• Iron (for adult use only) • Scissors • Hole puncher • String
4. Once the shavings have been spread evenly across the waxed paper, cut a second sheet of waxed paper the same size as the first sheet and lay it on top of the shavings. 5. Adult step only: Use an iron set to the lowest setting and iron on top of the waxed paper. It doesn’t take long for the crayon wax to melt and it cools quickly. 6. Once cooled, outline the shape of raindrops on the waxed paper using a pen or pencil.
• Tape • Pen or pencil
7. Cut out the outlined raindrops. 8. Use a hole puncher to punch a hole in the top of your raindrops. Use string and tape to hang your raindrops in a window. Wait for the sun to come back out and watch the sun rays light up your raindrops! Source: www.pre-kpages.com/raindrop-suncatchers-fine-motor-art/

The Waiver of Liability on the registration form must be signed prior to taking a class. Advise Town staff if participant has a disability or allergy requiring special accommodations. Class registration form may be sent ahead of registration date. All class registrations submitted prior to the first day of registration will be entered on the appropriate registration date, with no priority given.
PHOTO/VIDEO LIABILITY DISCLOSURE Photographs and video may be taken of participants during a class or program, and these photographs and video may be used for Town of Danville publicity purposes.
RAINOUTS AND CLASS MAKE-UPS Whenever possible, make-ups will be given on those occasions when inclement weather or instructor illness requires that a class be cancelled. WAITLISTS Waitlists will be created once a class has reached maximum enrollment. If space becomes available, you will be contacted.
AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT
WITHDRAWALS (CREDITS/REFUNDS)
In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Town of Danville encourages those with disabilities to participate in our programs. If you have any special needs that require specific accommodations so you can fully enjoy our classes and programs, call (925) 314-3400.
Requests for withdrawal will be honored if requested no later than seven business days prior to the first day of class. There will be a $5 withdrawal fee assessed for each activity. A $20 processing fee will be charged for processing refunds made by check. We do not provide cash refunds.
COURSE CANCELLATION
Requests made less than seven business days prior to the first day of class must be submitted in writing and will be considered on an individual basis.
When registration winters below the minimum enrollment required, it may be necessary to cancel a class or program. At the time of cancellation, the Town will initiate a full refund-minus transaction fee. Check refunds may take 4–6 weeks.
Withdrawals for sports leagues may be approved if a team can be replaced before the first game.
RESIDENCY STATUS CLARIFICATION Those living outside the Danville Town limits include residents of the communities of Alamo and Diablo, Alamo Creek, Bettencourt Ranch, Blackhawk, Bryan Ranch, Monterosso, Shadow Creek and Whitegate housing developments. The program and facility fees cover a large portion of the actual costs, though Town of Danville residents also partially support the classes, events and facilities through their property tax assessments. Because of this, those program participants and individuals reserving Town facilities who live outside of Danville pay an additional non-resident charge. If you have any questions about this information, call (925) 314-3400. Special Notice to Alamo Residents living in the Alamo County Service Area: all Alamo residents are eligible to register for Town-sponsored programs scheduled at Hap Magee Ranch Park during the resident registration period. Resident fees will apply for these classes and activities. Call (925) 314-3400 for more information.
