THE ART OF SPRING
The time has come to start looking at the blank canvas to create a vision of what the warmer months of the year may look like. Whether that picture includes crafting, exercising or looking to summer for camps and swimming, we have just the right color pallet to kick start your adventures. Just walk around Town and look for the colors of that palette that come from the green grass to the reds, yellow and pinks of the flowers that just pop. For me, this inspires creativity.
A fun way to kick off the spring season is at Art in the Park. It’s a fun family event with crafts outside at Oak Hill Park. What better way to enjoy the art of spring. As you move through the Spring Activity Guide, I hope you notice that there are programs for all ages. This activity guide not only paints you a picture of the spring offerings but also a brush stroke of what’s to come in the summer. There’s lots to choose from and we’re here to help you get creative in your selections.
Use this guide to cover that canvas and fill it with activities for everyone in the family from classes to special events and summer camps to aquatics, it’s all happening here in Town. We look forward to inspiring you to be creative, try something new or meet new friends in the community.
Now, let’s go enjoy the art of recreation!

Breaking Rules Exhibition
April 12-June 13
Opening Reception: April 12, 10:00 AM-12:00 PM
This exhibition showcases seven artists who dig deeply through layers of paint application and collage to arrive at new solutions. Quite simply, the artists' work consists of perpetually breaking established rules. Every blank canvas presents a mystery and, in a sense, a battlefield. These artists paint, layer and excavate, continually responding to an inner quest for understanding a kind of synthesis. They seek new order.

How do I select my child’s class level?
Please refer to the Swimming Levels table (at left) with qualifying age and culminating skills needed in the order listed. To move to subsequent levels, swimmers must consistently perform all culminating skills. Your child should enroll in the lowest level lesson that they cannot perform a culminating skill repeatedly. Sometimes, swimmers may need to retake lessons or repeat levels after prolonged periods without practice. Please note that if the wrong swim level is chosen, we will be able to provide a refund with Town credit only. Participant may be removed from a lesson and alternative accommodations cannot be guaranteed.
What if my participant cannot pass a swim test?
If your participant cannot pass a swim test, your participant will be asked to withdraw from the course. If you sign your participant up for a level that they do not meet the prerequisite for and cannot pass the swim test, you will only be refunded with Town credit.
What happens if my child passes the class, but I registered the child for the same level next session?
If there is space available, your child will be transferred to the correct level. Please contact the Danville Community Center prior to 1:00 PM on Friday to accommodate potential transfers.
Is it possible to make up a class that my child missed due to illness or vacation?
Unfortunately, there will be no make-up classes due to illness or vacation.
I am an adult. Can I take lessons?
Yes! This summer we have a very limited amount of private lessons for ages 8 and up. Please see table (at left) for prerequisites.

To advance to the next level, a successful demonstration of all the listed Culminating Skill Assessment items is necessary. Additional skills are listed on our Lesson Certificate and may be used as prerequisites for progression. You can find complete skill charts for each level available online for review to assist in level placement. Participants are expected to be consistently proficient in most, if not all, the listed skills and be able to complete the Culminating Skill Assessment on demand to move to the next level. If a participant is unable to do so, the staff may recommend changing to a different level that matches the demonstrated skill set. WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE SOMETHING HAPPENS TO ME?
Age 55Y & Up | Town Volunteers
Mortality is a natural part of the cycle of life. While it is not something you probably want to think about, you can make things a lot easier on yourself and your family if you get everything in order now while you can. Doing so will help ensure that things in your life are organized so others can see what you want to happen after you're gone, what you own, and how to handle a variety of situations. One of the biggest questions you should ask yourself is "What should I do before something happens to me?" Obviously, the inevitable will eventually happen. We just don't know when and how. So, it is critical to review your specific needs.

NATIONAL PIZZA PARTY DAY!
Age 55Y & Up | Town Staff
Having a blast on National Pizza Party Day is no pie-in-the-sky idea. Although mainly thought of as an Italian dish, pizza has seemingly existed forever. The ancient Greeks used to flavor their flatbread with oils, herbs, and cheese, while Persian soldiers used to bake their own pizzas on the hot surfaces of their shields. Traditional pizza is also known as Neapolitan pizza, and it originates—as the name suggests—from Naples, around the middle of the 16th century. Italian immigrants later introduced the dish to their new American compatriots, and eventually, pizza became the savory crowd-pleaser we know it to be today. Join us for a Pizza Party and lets celebrate all things pizza!

Egg Carton Flowers
The traditional colors are brown, yellow, orange and white, but be creative! Maybe create a tree representing the colors of your favorite football team!
Materials:
• Cardboard egg carton
• Green paper or felt
Visit this page each issue to see what I'm up to this season! I love to learn new things and get creative! Look for a new activity in every issue of the Activity Guide. Test your skills and have fun!
• Paint
• Pom poms
• Green pipe cleaners
Directions :
• Hot glue gun and glue
• 8x10 canvas or thick paper
1. With an adult’s help, cut the part of the egg carton that holds the eggs and cut them in the shape of flowers.
2. Paint your egg carton flowers and let them dry.
3. With an adult’s help, glue a pom pom to the center of your egg carton flower.
4. Now it’s time to either paint your canvas (or paper) or leave it the color it is! Let it dry before moving onto the next step.
5. Arrange your egg carton flowers on the canvas/paper.
6. Use the green pipe cleaners to create stems by glueing them underneath each flower.
7. With an adult’s help, cut the green paper or felt in the shape of leaves and glue next to your stems.

RESIDENCY STATUS CLARIFICATION
Those living outside the Danville Town limits include residents of the communities of Alamo and Diablo, Alamo Creek, Bettencourt Ranch, Blackhawk, Bryan Ranch, Monterosso, Shadow Creek and Whitegate housing developments.
The program and facility fees cover a large portion of the actual costs, though Town of Danville residents also partially support the classes, events and facilities through their property tax assessments. Because of this, those program participants and individuals reserving Town facilities who live outside of Danville pay an additional non-resident charge. If you have any questions about this information, call (925) 314-3400.
Special Notice to Alamo Residents living in the Alamo County Service Area: all Alamo residents are eligible to register for Town-sponsored programs scheduled at Hap Magee Ranch Park during the resident registration period. Resident fees will apply for these classes and activities. Call (925) 314-3400 for more information.
