Town of Danville 2015 Annual Report

For fiscal year ended June 30, 2015

Message from the Town Council The Town of Danville is a place with strong community roots and a wonderful sense of hometown pride. It maintains the quaint character of a small Town, while providing the programs and services to be found in much larger municipalities. Between the schools, parks and vibrant downtown area, it is easy to see why our motto is ‘Small Town Atmosphere, Outstanding Quality of Life.’ 2014/15 was a year of innovation and change in Town. We saw a number of projects in our downtown area launch and come to fruition. New wayfinding signage to help residents and visitors navigate to the many amenities in Town, beautification projects on Railroad Avenue and North Hartz Avenue and an amazing private redevelopment of the Danville Hotel property. All of these changes have brought positive impacts to our downtown, in the form of beautiful brick-banded sidewalks, new street landscaping and lighting and even easier street-side parking. In addition, efforts over the last few years to combat the drought plaguing California have led to the Town reducing water consumption by 30%. As the guardians of this community we want to know how our residents feel. If you have questions or feedback, we stand ready to answer. Reach out to us at (925) 314-3388, stop by our website at www.danville.ca.gov, message us through the Danville Connect app, or visit us during the Town Council hours at the weekly Danville Farmers’ Market from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Thanks for being a part of our Danville experience!

Maintenance Services

All of the things which make Danville a beautiful place to live, work and play require continuous work and upkeep. The 25 full-time employees of the Maintenance Services Department ensure that Town facilities – parks, roadside landscaping, public buildings, streets and street lights – are maintained in a manner that enhances the quality of life for Danville residents. Over 250 acres of park, roadside and median landscaping throughout Danville are maintained by Maintenance Services, including 30 sports fields, five water features, eight playgrounds and both a large and small dog park. Collectively, these amenities help provide great recreational experiences for Danville residents. The department maintains 145 miles of roadways and approximately 105,000 square feet of public buildings, including the Veterans Memorial Building, Library, Community Center and even the Teen Centers at the Town’s three middle schools. To help combat the drought in 2015, the department took the lead role in implementing water conservation efforts, including expansion of its central irrigation system, utilization of organic fertilizers and conversion of high water use landscaping to drought tolerant materials. The Town continues to look for ways to maintain the wonderful facilities we have while at the

The Information Technology function provides, maintains and continually improves critical technology infrastructure that enables the Town organization to securely communicate, deliver municipal services and provide information to its community nearly around-the-clock.
