I know firsthand how difficult it can be to begin or maintain an active and healthy lifestyle especially in the winter months. I’m a little embarrassed to admit that at times my active lifestyle consists of a trip to the fridge and an unintended scavenger hunt to find the remote control before the big game. Although I enjoy being active, if you are anything like me, I sometimes don’t know quite where to start. Fortunately, you live in Danville, the perfect place to start. Thumb through our Activity Guide and note the variety of recreation activities that can provide you a place to start your healthy lifestyle, maintain an active exercise program or try something entirely new and exciting. Whether you would like to burn calories in Zumba, work on your backhand in tennis or discover yoga’s downward dog, we have an activity for you. Close the fridge and drop the remote so you can get out and have some fun! I encourage you to explore the Activity Guide and find the class or program that is right for you. This season’s message is simple; it’s a time of beginnings, let it all start here! Henry Perezalonso Recreation Services Manager

Nobu Endo

Let’s have a pawsitively good time. Find the class that best suits the needs of you and your four-legged friend. The objective of the course is to develop a reliable canine citizen regardless of age. Our methods are based on positive reinforcement techniques. For safety we recommended that all vaccinations have been received before walking in public places. Bring proof of vaccinations, 6-ft. leash and lots of treats to reward your dog. It’s recommended you do not feed your dog 5–6 hours prior to the start of class and you dress comfortably. Basic Dog Training This course will give you the necessary skills to teach your canine companion five fundamental commands necessary to control your dog. Early and proper socialization are critical for your canine’s future success. You will learn positive ways to teach sit, down, wait, come, leave it, and loose leash walking. Addressing common behavior problems (such as mouthing, potty-training, digging) will also be discussed. This course is for canines 3 months of age and older.
