HOTEL SAFETY The following tips are suggestions only. Please use your judgment in any emergency situation.

SECURITY • Close the door securely whenever you are in your room. Use the deadbolt lock provided on your door by turning the handle counter-clockwise. This will prevent the door from being opened by a regular room key. As an additional precaution, please secure the safety lock. • Check to make sure windows and connecting room doors are locked. • Do not allow people to enter your room without first identifying them through the observation view port on the door. Verify by calling the Front Desk. • Safeguard your key at all times. Do not leave room keys unattended throughout the hotel. Do not give your key to others. If your key is lost, please stop by the Front Desk with your photo ID for a new key. • Do not leave valuables in your room or your vehicle. Place all valuables in a complimentary safe deposit box available at the Front Desk 24 hours a day. • Do not draw attention to yourself by displaying large amounts of cash or expensive jewelry. • Do not provide credit card or identity information over the telephone. Hotel staff will not ask for credit card or identity information over the telephone, except when making reservations.

SAFETY • If you are in a new city, familiarize yourself with the areas you plan to visit. • Watch your children at all times. • When returning to the hotel late in the evening, use the main entrance. Be observant and look around before entering the parking garage. • Do not invite strangers to your room. • If you see any suspicious activity, report your observations by calling the Front Desk at extension 3111.

FIRE • Familiarize yourself with the location of the hallway fire exits, alarms and extinguishers. • If the alarm sounds or if instructed to evacuate, check your door for heat or smoke, and, if clear, go to the nearest staircase. Never use an elevator during a fire. • If the fire is not in your room, leave if you can. Feel the door; if cool, open it slowly and go to the nearest exit. Crawl if there is smoke (fresher air will be at the floor). Take your room key with you so you can return to your room if you can’t use the exits. • If your door is hot, do not open it. Seal all cracks with wet towels. Shut off the fan and air conditioner and stay low to the ground. Signal from your window using a towel or light-colored article of clothing.

SEVERE WEATHER • If you are outside, immediately seek safe shelter. • If you are inside, stay away from windows and glass doors. • If the alarm sounds or if instructed to evacuate, take your room key with you and follow the instructions heard through the hotel intercom. • Use stairwells, not elevators.
