Safety & Security Traveler Safety Tips 1. D on’t answer the door in your hotel room without verifying who it is. If a person claims to be an employee, call the Front Desk and ask if someone from the staff is supposed to have access to your room and for what purpose. 2. W hen returning to the hotel in the late evening, use the main entrance of the hotel. Be observant and look around before entering parking lots. 3. Close the door securely whenever you are in your room, and use all of the locking devices provided. 4. D on’t needlessly display guest room keys in public or carelessly leave them on restaurant tables, at the swimming pool or other places where they can easily be stolen. 5. Do not draw attention to yourself by displaying large amounts of cash or expensive jewelry. 6. Don’t invite strangers to your room. 7. Utilize our safe deposit boxes at the Front Desk for your valuables. 8. Do not leave valuables in your vehicle. 9. Check to see that any sliding glass doors or windows and any connecting room doors are locked. 10. If you see any suspicious activity, please report your observations to the management. In Case of Fire... When you hear an alarm, don’t investigate, but do the following: If a fire is inside your room: Leave your room and close the door. Report the fire by calling the Hotel Operator or pulling the alarm. If fire is not in your room: Test the door with your hand for heat before opening. If the door is hot: Stay in your room. Phone the Hotel Operator for help. Fill the tub and seal around doors and cracks with wet towels. Cover your face with wet towels. Wait for help. If the door is cool: Take your room key. Open the door slowly. If hall is smoky, stay low. Walk to the nearest exit and go down to the street. If exiting down is unsafe, return to your room and follow the suggestions outlined above. Do not use elevator! 7
