Fire Safety
Hotels and motels are doing more to make sure guests are safe from fire. Take time to read and familiarize yourself with fire safety and escape information. 1. Find the two exits nearest your room. Count the number of doors from your room to each exit. Make sure they are unlocked and unblocked. 2. Learn the layout of your room and how to unlock the door in the dark. Put your room key and a flashlight close to where you sleep. In the event of a fire, take your room key with you. 3. Locate the fire alarm. If you find a fire in your room or somewhere else, sound the alarm. 4. When you hear the fire alarm, act, don’t investigate. 5. If the fire is in your room, get out and close the door. Once out, report the fire to the management and call the Fire Department. 6. If the fire is not in your room, leave if you can. First feel the door. If it’s cool, open it slowly and go to the nearest exit. 7. If your room door is hot, don’t open it. Your room may be the safest place to be. Seal all cracks with wet towels. Shut off fans and air conditioners. Signal at your window or balcony for help and wait to be rescued. 8. Crawl low if there is smoke. Fresher air will be at the floor. If you encounter smoke or fire at lower levels, turn around and use another exit. Take your key so you can go back to your room if you can’t use your exit. These recommendations are suggestions only. Always use your own good judgment.
Safety & Security 1. Safeguard your room key as you would your own residence key. 2. If your room key is lost or stolen, report it to the Front Desk immediately. 3. Be sure guest room door is locked before retiring or leaving. 4. Never admit a repairman without checking with the Front Desk. 5. Do not keep valuables in your room. A safe has been provided in each room for your convenience. 6. Do not leave valuables inside parked vehicles. 7. Do not reveal your room number to strangers. 8. Never discuss plans for staying away from the hotel in front of strangers. 9. Do not leave luggage unattended when checking out. 10. Leave your room key with the desk clerk when checking out. 11. If you notice anything of suspicious nature or have need of any special assistance, please contact the management. 12. Identify ALL callers through door viewer before opening door. 13. Double lock your door and use the security bar. SMOKING POLICY The state law requires us to be totally smoke free inside all areas of this building, including balcony rooms. If you prefer to smoke, you must smoke outside in our designated smoking area that is provided. Please be advised that smoking inside the building will be a $250.00 fine per offense. TORNADO WARNINGS If you are a guest during a warning for Fond du Lac County, we will be sounding our fire alarm three times intermittently. At the sound, take a pillow and go to the First Floor hallways and lie face down and cover your head with the pillow. Avoid major entrances. When the tornado warning has expired, we will sound the fire alarm one steady sound, letting you know it is safe to return to your room. We hope that these procedures will contribute to your comfort and well-being during your stay at our hotel. 7
