FIRE SAFETY AND SECURITY The safety and security of you as a guest and your personal property are of the utmost concern to us here at the Jefferson Street Inn & Event Center. We urge you to take advantage of the following suggestions.

1. Upon your arrival at the Jefferson Street Inn & Event Center please take time to review the emergency exit plan located on the back of your guest room door. Look around and familiarize yourself with emergency escape exits, plans for evacuation and shelter. Locate the nearest fire exits and fire alarm pull station, the number of doors between exits and your room and the nearest stairwell so you can find them in the case of an emergency. 2. Always keep your key handy near your bed. Study your room for escape routes; always take your key if you leave in an emergency. Carry a small flashlight, if possible. 3. Avoid panic. Panic and smoke are your worst enemies. Know how to react in case of an emergency situation. 4. If an alarm is activated, evacuate immediately. Do not assume a false alarm situation has occurred.

ADMITTANCE: Do not admit persons to your room

without first making identification. A viewer is provided in your door for your convenience. If there is any doubt about the person’s identity, please contact the Front Desk. Food delivery personnel are restricted from entering the guest room floors. Please meet them in the lobby or have a member of the Jefferson Street Inn & Event Center staff make the delivery for you.

GUEST ROOM LOCKS: For additional security

while in your room, utilize the deadbolt lock provided on your door. This will prevent the door from being opened by a regular room key or master key. As an additional precaution, please secure the safety lock.

IN CASE OF FIRE, ACT FAST…

1. Report smoke or fire to the Hotel Operator immediately. Touch 0. State your name and room number and give a brief description of the situation. 2. Feel the door. If the door or knob is hot, don’t open it. Place cool, damp towels around any opening where smoke may enter the room. 3. Remain calm and stay in contact with the Hotel Operator.

KEYS: Guest room keys will be issued only to guests

registered in the hotel room. Photo identification may be required for additional keys. Safeguard your key at all times. Be sure to leave it with the cashier upon departure. Do not give your keys to others and protect the confidentiality of your room number.

PERSONAL PROPERTY: Whether using the

restaurant, pool facility or meeting room, never leave property unattended. Take your coat, computer and other personal items with you at all times. Coat racks may be supplied in meeting rooms. Please note: these racks and the rooms they are in may not be secured at all times. The hotel is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

IF YOU STAY IN YOUR ROOM…

1. Stay low to the floor; tie a wet cloth over your nose and mouth for easier breathing. (Note: this won’t filter out deadly gases.) 2. Signal for help by using telephone, waving a sheet, flashing lights, etc. Emergency number is 911. 3. Fill the bathtub with water. Stuff wet towels and sheets in cracks around doors and vents. Turn off air conditioners and fans. 4. Vent any smoke from the room using the bathroom vent (unless it draws in smoke). Open window if there’s no smoke outside. Don’t break window unless absolutely necessary - you may need to close it later. 5. Throw water onto hot surfaces (walls, doors) using ice bucket or a wastebasket. Remove curtains and wet down window if fire is right outside. 6. Don’t jump from above the second floor - you could be seriously injured. Wait to be rescued.

RULES AND REGULATIONS: Please follow

posted rules and regulations throughout the property. Compliance with posted rules is expected. Individuals who are not in compliance with regulations (written and/or oral) may be asked to leave the property. Complaints may also be filed with local authorities if damage to property or personnel occurs.

VEHICLES: Parking is offered on and off hotel

property. The hotel is not responsible for lost or stolen property left in your vehicle while visiting the Jefferson Street Inn & Event Center. We offer storage areas for large items, such as skis and bikes. Please take advantage of our services for your safety and security. Contact guest services for questions regarding storage or security.

IF YOU DECIDE TO LEAVE YOUR ROOM…

1. Take your key in case re-entry is necessary, keep a wet cloth over your nose and mouth, close the door behind you, knock on doors to warn others during your exit, assist those in need. Stay low to the ground or floor; smoke will rise in the hallways. 2. If there’s no smoke, walk to the nearest smoke-free stairway. If there’s smoke and it’s dark, crawl to exit, counting doors. Never Use an Elevator in a Fire - You Could Become Trapped Inside.

These recommendations are to be construed only as suggestions. Use your own best judgment.

Museum from throughout the world. Birds in Art takes flight to other venues each year through a subsequent touring exhibition that further expands the Woodson’s reach nationwide.

Wausau is very proud of its history! You may find several of its past citizens strolling the grounds of the Marathon County Historical Museum from time to time. Once inside, enjoy the Museum’s collection of original furnishings as well as the many stories it has to tell.

Artwork in the Museum’s collection also focuses on art of the natural world, so enjoy nature’s beauty year-round in the galleries, on the grounds and in Art Park – the Museum’s interactive family gallery. The Museum is housed in an updated 1931 English Tudor-period Cotswold-style residence to which expansive gallery spaces and a main entrance have been added. The four-acre grounds include the Margaret Woodson Fisher Sculpture Garden, the Secret Garden, a seek-andfind small-sculpture challenge, attractive brick walkways, a shaded arbor and seating area and on-site parking.

ANDREW WARREN HISTORIC DISTRICT

If you enjoy architecture, continue your walk within the 10-block Andrew Warren Historic District. Here you will find examples of Greek Revival, Italianate, Queen Anne, Classical Revival and Prairie School architecture. All but 4 of the 62 buildings are homes maintained by people who care deeply about this neighborhood.

LEIGH YAWKEY WOODSON ART MUSEUM Nestled in a beautiful residential area several blocks uphill and east of downtown Wausau, offers artwork from every corner of the world via changing exhibitions. Linger in the handsome outdoor sculpture garden and stroll through lush grounds. Creativity takes flight in galleries where images of birds and nature send imaginations soaring.

Eight to ten changing exhibitions each year, enlivened by artist residencies, audio tours and hands-on activities encourage frequent visits, as does an array of monthly programs for all ages. Perennial favorites include snow sculpture, Family Fest’s week of summertime drop-in artmaking and OctoBIRDfest, a famously fun fall family festival.

Best known for its flagship, internationally acclaimed Birds in Art exhibition each fall, thousands make the annual migration to the Museum to see fresh artistic interpretations by some of the world’s most talented artists. Meet and see artists in action during opening weekend festivities, when more than half of the hundredplus artists selected for the exhibition flock to the
