WELCOME TO TELLURIDE
On behalf of Inn at Lost Creek, it is our pleasure to welcome you to Telluride. We are most grateful that you have chosen us as your retreat destination. Our team is committed to providing you with a private, memorable, and distinctive experience with the highest levels of personalized service. Telluride is a quaint and historic mountain town with some of the world’s most exceptional skiing, hiking, and fly-fishing. Combine the outdoor activities with Telluride’s art, culture, and natural beauty and you will understand why Telluride is “the most beautiful place you will ever visit!” A national historic landmark since 1964, Telluride has a heritage as rich as the silver and gold deposits that brought the miners here more than 100 years ago. The present day town / resort began as a tent city in 1878, evolved into an actual mining town around the first of the century, and finally became a recreation retreat during the 60s and 70s. The original buildings on the main street contrast with the modern and rapidly expanding base ski area of Mountain Village. Whether you’re here for a family adventure or an adult escape, the team at Inn at Lost Creek is eager to make your stay an experience you will always remember. Please let any member of our team know if there is anything we can do to make your stay with us more enjoyable.

EMERGENCY & SAFETY INFORMATION
EMERGENCY / FIRE Emergency 911 San Miguel County Sheriff 970.728.1911 Telluride Police Department 970.728.3818 Mountain Village Police Department 970.728.9281 Telluride Fire Department 970.728.3801 Mountain Village Department 970.728.6007 ALTITUDE Please remember that you are staying at an average of 9000 feet while in Telluride and Mountain Village. Below are some high altitude tips from the Institute for Altitude Medicine at Telluride (AMS stands for Acute Mountain Sickness): • Slow ascent to altitude is the key to acclimatizing well. Almost anyone can get altitude illness if they go too high, too quickly. Because of the individual differences, a preventive rate of ascent for one person may be too slow or fast for another. • An overnight stay at an intermediate altitude such as Denver (5280 ft.) or preferably a bit higher prior to further ascent into the mountains is very helpful. If traveling to Telluride, overnighting in Ridgway, Ouray, Placerville or Durango would be helpful, especially if the destination is Mountain Village. • Staying hydrated is important as it aids your body in acclimatizing. • Avoid use of alcohol or sleeping agents of the benzodiazepine family, since they both suppress breathing and result in lower blood oxygen. Other sleeping pills like ambien or lunesta do not affect breathing at high altitude and are safe. Avoid over-exertion for 1-2 days AFTER ARRIVAL to altitude. • Acetazolamide (diamox®) taken 24 hours prior to arrival to altitude and the first 2 days at altitude is 75% effective in preventing ams. It speeds up the acclimatization process in the body, stimulates breathing, raises blood oxygen and increases urination. • Avoiding exposure to viral illness such as coughs and colds will improve your chances of staying healthy. When traveling consider wearing a mask if exposed to someone with a severe cough. Use proper hand washing and good hygiene to avoid transferring germs.
