Bushfire Season Survival Plan
You don’t have to live in the bush to be threatened by bushfire − you just have to be close enough to be affected by burning material, embers and smoke. Everyone should be familiar with the official bushfire warnings levels and have a completed bushfire survival plan for action. When there’s a bushfire in your area, it’s your responsibility to take notice, seek information, make decisions and act.
Prepare For Bushfire Season An unprepared property is not only at risk itself, but may also present an increased danger for neighbours. Here are some things you can do: Clear all property of twigs, fallen branches, leaves and any other debris from gutters, backyards and front yard. Mow your lawn regularly and trim any low lying branches Make sure you do a maintence check on genorators, water systems and electrical systems Ensure that any unenclosed areas are clear, such as decks, and that the can be enclosed Seal all gaps in external roofs and wall cladding Ensure that your house number is prominent and that fire trucks can have adequate acess to your property Check that you have sufficient personal protective clothing and equipment.
Check that your first aid kit is stocked Relocate flammable items away from your home, including woodpiles, paper, boxes, crates, hanging baskets and garden furniture. Make sure you have appropriate insurance for your home and vehicles.
Create your own survival plan Before a bushfire occurs everyone should make their own survival plan. This should give you a guideline as to how you are going to react to a fire emergency. Your plan should include: When you should leave and if anyone is going to stay Your details for insurer, gas, electricity, phone/inernet, schools, work etc Tune into warnings, don’t assume that you will be notified by fire crew as they will be unable to assist everyone Ensure your pantry is stocked Register for warnings and alerts through your local council Ensure you have plenty drinking water

Clearly understand what you will do to protect your property and life when the fire arrives and discuss details of your plan with family, friends and neighbours. Have you prepared a Bushfire Emergency Kit so you will be equipped to extinguish small fires and have basic protection from heat, smoke and flames. Is your property well-prepared for fire, even if you intend to leave early. A well-prepared property stands a greater chance of surviving. Know your risk : Do you live within a few kilometres of bushland? Does your local area have a bushfire history? Do you have trees and shrubs within 20 metres of your house? Is your home built on a slope? Are you tuned/registered for warnings? Do you know the Fire Danger ratings Do you have a plan for your pets/livestock Are you prepared for an evacuation if you stay
Leave early or stay If you plan to leave early, then you must leave your home well before a bushfire threatens and travelling by road becomes hazardous. An evacution plan/kit is essential, in the event of a bushfire. A contingency plan will be required if you decide to stay. Creating a check list and asking youself essential questions will help with your plans. Checklist guide:
Move cars to a safe location
Close windows and doors and shut blinds
Seal gaps under doors and windows with wet towels
Block downpipes (at the top) and fill gutters with water if possible
Wet down the sides of buildings, decks and close shrubbery in the likely path of the bushfire
Wet down fine fuels close to buildings
Fill containers with water - baths, sinks, buckets, wheelie bins
Tune in to warnings to monitor local radio, websites or social media for updates
Put on protective clothing
Remove garden furniture, door mats and other items Take down curtains and move furniture away from windows
Turn on garden sprinklers for 30 minutes before the bushfire arrives
Drink lots of water.
Ask question guide: Is your property able to withstand the impact of bushfire? Do you have well-maintained resources and equipment and do you know how to use them?
Having an emergency kit is an important step to prepare for, survive and cope with emergencies. Know: All householders need to know where your Emergency Kit is kept. Check: and update the contents of your kit regularly, to ensure everything is in working order and has not expired. Discuss: your emergency kit with all householders and make sure everyone knows what to do in an emergency. Everyone should be familiar with the official Bushfire Warnings system. When there's a bushfire in your area, it's up to you to take notice, seek information, make decisions and act. The Fire Danger Rating (FDR) is an early indicator of potential danger and should act as your first trigger for action. The higher the rating, the greater the need for you to act. The FDR is an assessment of the potential fire behaviour, the difficulty of suppressing a fire and the potential impact on the community should a bushfire occur on a given day.
Preparation is the key to survival. Being involved in a fire will be one of the most traumatic experiences of your life. You will need to be mentally and physically ready and you will need to have a plan.

Cyclone Season Get ready and be prepared!!
I have not yet been in Townsville for a cyclone, but since moving my family here, my sister who has been here for 10 years has warned me and told me to start a cyclone kit that has canned food, long life milk, water, a torch, am/fm radio and an emergency medical kit , that can be stored for long periods. I did this and would suggest to friends to do the same. Its better to be prepared than be caught by surprise and have nothing for when disaster hits. Getting ready and being prepared for a cyclone is always the best way to go, because if you’re not it will cost you a lot, as cyclones are not friendly or kind and you don’t want to be caught off guard so being ready is whats going to keep your family safe and secure. Some thing to do to get ready for cyclones
Sheltering options during and immediately after an event
Plans/ procedures should an evacuation be ordered.
Consider suitable and safe alternative accommodation arrangements: e.g. making prior arrangements to stay at alternative accommodations in more secure structures and beyond storm surge levels.
Ensure your propert is secure and safe: prior to any disaster
Consider your communication strategy: how you plan to stay in contact with family anf friends
Ensure you are self-sufficient for at least 72 hours: cyclone kits are the best way to supply your family with food, water, medication emergency kit.

Spring into Spring Spring Cleaning
Now that the weather is warming up its time to declutter and refresh your home. Here are a few tips to help tackle the spring clean. Create a checklist – Make a detailed list of each room in the house. Having a list will help keep you focused and organised. Family activity – A full spring clean isn’t a one person job. It can be a fun and bonding time as a family. Give each family member a designated area within the room based on their preference and ability level. Focus on one area at a time – You will get more done if you clean one room at a time. If you try multi tasking you will lose momentum and it will take longer to clean. Start with the bathroom first as it is the smallest room in the house, this willl help you focus and gain momentum. Eliminate distractions - To stay focused on your tasks, avoid things such as the t.v and facebook which will only slow
down your productivity. If you require some background noise the radio or you own music will keep you motivated. De-clutter - Don’t be afraid to throw things out. You will more than likely find items you haven’t touch in months perhaps years. Start ‘donate’, ‘sell’ and ‘throw’ piles to help make this task easier. Organise – An organised home has proven to create an environment of less stress and a relaxing atmosphere. You can find many organising systems for your kitchen, office, closet and garage from places like ikea, house & home, Target and YouTube. Deep clean – A deep clean means removing all items from cupboards and scrubing inside and out. So for the kitchen take out all of the pots/pans/plates/knives/forks etc. Once this is done you organise everything more efficiently.

Instead of using shop-brought cleaning proucts, why not try some DIY recipes for doing your spring clean. THE BASICS White Vinegar - Has a slightly acidic nature making it effective at dissolving grease and soap scum. Baking Soda – It deodorises and is also a brightening abrasive. Lemon Juice – Kills mould & mildew and leaves a frsh natural scent behind. Essential Oils – (tea tree, lavender, eucalyptus) adds a natural fragrance, they also have anti-fungal and antibacterial properties.

Spring Cleaning Spring clean your skin
Spring clean your skin with some homemade body srcubs that will moisturize and exfoliate your skin. The best thing about these homemade products, is that they also make great gifts.
with these, but gentle circles should be fine. These are probably best if you scar easily. Some of these scrubs are moisturizing. However, they make the bottom of the tub dangerously slippery, so you will have to clean out the tub after you use them.
SUGAR SCRUBS Sugar scrubs should not be used on your face. If you scrub too hard or have uneven skin (or acne) sugar scrubs, because the sugar doesn’t dissolve, can cause some serious scarring. Since the idea is trying to keep your skin nice, this is crucial information. Sugar scrubs are best for your heels, elbows, and your body (if you don’t scrub too hard)
BATH SALTS
SALT SCRUBS Salt scrubs are better for your face and neck because the salt will dissolve. You still don’t want to “scrub” delicate areas
Bath salts are just fancy Epsom salts you can make at home. But there are a few things you should know about Epsom salts not everyone talks about. People taking antibiotic medications–for example, demeclocycline, ciprofloxacin or nitrofurantoin–shouldn’t take Epsom salts until cleared by a physician. The same is true for patients taking digoxin or digitalis, a cardiac medication. Finally, pregnant women should consult their obstetrician if they’re considering taking Epsom salts. Although no evidence exists as to birth defects, it’s a good health practice to check with a doctor first.

DIY
Citrus Green Tea Body Scrub
BODY SRUB RECIPES
Moisturizing Coconut-Vanilla Body Scrub 1 cup coarse vanilla sugar 1/3 cup Natural Calm Sports Bath (or mineral sea salt) 1/2 cup extra virgin coconut oil (the kind that smells like coconut) To make vanilla sugar (makes 2 cups): 2 cups coarse sugar (turbinado or raw cane sugar) 1 vanilla bean, seeds scraped (you can use vanilla extract) In a medium bowl, stir together the vanilla sugar and sports bath. Add in the coconut oil, and stir until combined - it'll be the texture of wet sand. Transfer to an airtight container, and store at room temperature. To use, place a dime-sized amount into the palm of your hand, and rub all over your hands (or whichever part of your body you want). Rinse off with warm water. To make vanilla sugar: In a small bowl, place the sugar. After scraping the vanilla bean (and using it for a recipe), take the empty pod and cut it into small pieces. Rub the pod into the sugar, coating the pod and getting out any excess seeds. Place the sugar and the vanilla beans in an airtight container, and store in a cool place for about 3 days up to 1 week to let the flavors meld before using. Refill with sugar (and add more vanilla beans) as needed.
Ingredients 3 cups Epsom salts 3 tbsp baking soda 4 tbsp oil (I used apricot kernel oil but jojoba, grapeseed, or sweet almond oil will work fine) 1 tea bag of green tea (or about tbsp of loose leaf green tea) 8 drops of lime essential oil 8 drops of orange essential oil zest from a lime, lemon and/or orange (or any combination ) Directions: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
Pour Epsom salts and baking soda into a large bowl Add oil and mix thoroughly Cut open the tea bag of green tea and add to mixture Add essential oil and citrus zest Mix everything together and it should be the consistency of damp packing snow. Spoon out of bowl and into a container and then seal the container (re- use medium-sized jam jars)
Sparkling Flower-Scented Coconut Oil Sugar Scrubs Ingredients ½ cup Coconut Oil Ÿ cup plus 3 tablespoons Sparkling Sugar (larger granule decorative sugar), colored or white 2 tablespoons Sanding Sugar (small granule decorative sugar) or Granulated Sugar Flower-scented Essential Oils; start with 20 drops and adjust to your scent preference as needed Supplies: Jars with lids
RASPBERRY LIME SUGAR SCRUB Ingredients 1/3 cup raspberry jam, without seeds 1 1/4 cup sugar 1 tablespoon fine sea salt 1 tablespoon olive oil 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 15 drops of essential lime oil (I get mine at Whole Foods, $4 something) 1 teaspoon pulverized lime zest (in small food processor, or coffee grinder) Instructions Mix all ingredients in a small bowl with a spoon.Transfer into a jar.
Directions 1.
2. 3.
In a mixing bowl, combine the coconut oil and sugars. Stir together using a sturdy mixing spoon or wooden spoon. If there are larger pieces of solid coconut oil use the back of a wooden spoon to break them apart. Add the flower essential oil and mix fully. Spoon the sugar scrub into a container, add a final sprinkling of Sparkling Sugar and seal.
Note: if the process of blending the coconut oil and sugar has significantly softened the coconut oil, the container may be placed in the refrigerator to allow the mixture to become more solid. Store sealed at room temperature.

Simple DIY Ideas Quick and Easy Ideas for Indoors and Outdoor
With Spring kicking in, there are many DIY ideas to help welcome in the new season. From outdoor gardening to interior decorating and other upcycling projects, the possibilities are endless! Here are a few simple upcycling ideas!
hand stores will have golf caddies at their disposal. Their prices vary depending if they are selling clubs as well.
Solar Teapot Lights If you have an old teapot laying around that you aren‟t using, it can serve to create a nice „water pouring effect‟ with some solar lights for your garden. Simply find a place to hang the teapot, feed the solar lights through the spout and let the lights flow through your garden!
Golf Caddy Garden Tool Carrier
Plastic Bottle Wallet
An old golf caddy can serve as a great carrier for your tools around the garden. Coming equipped with wheels, a golf caddy is great for carting around your bigger tools such as rakes, shovels, hoes and trowels. Most (if not all) second-
If you‟re after a new wallet to carry your change and notes and have a couple of spare bottles laying around, you can cut the bottom off the bottles and attach them with a cheap zipper found at any crafting store!

Pop-Up Cleaning Wipes
Wineglass Dioramas
If you‟re looking for a convenient and nifty way to store your cleaning cloths for quick and easy use, this “tissue box” setup is a great way to go about it. Simply cut a hole in the lid of a plastic container and fold the cloths together in a zig-zag pattern to ensure they continue to feed through as you grab cloths out.
Wineglasses can make for some great table-top decorations for your fancy dinners. What you need for this is a hot glue gun, some cardboard and some decorations for the inside. You will want to trace around the outside of your wineglass onto the cardboard to get your size. Once you‟ve done that, cut out the circle you have just drawn. From there, you can use the hot glue gun to stick the decorations to the cardboard and stick the cardboard to your glass. Once the cardboard with the decorations is stuck to the glass, you can trim the excess cardboard from the side to tidy it up. For extra effect, you can also place candles on the top of the glass as shown in the image above.
Spoon Hanging Racks
Wine Bottle Night Lights
If you ever purchase a new cutlery set, don‟t throw out your old one as it still has plenty of use to it. An example of this is to use your old spoons to hang up anything from your keys, coats and even aprons. All you need to do is flatten out the end of your spoons (a flat surface and the flat end of a hammer should do the trick), screw the spoons into a piece of wood or board and bend the handle of the spoon to serve as a hook to hold your belongings.
Similar to the teapot outdoor light decoration mentioned earlier, you can also use solar lights inside of wine bottles for these incredible looking decorations. These are perfect for setting the mood to wind down and relax by calmly lighting the room.

Backyard Kids Activities Some simple and cheap DIY outdoor kids’ activities
With the colder weather starting to come to an end and the days start getting warmer, it might be time for the kids to put down their Ipads and Xbox controllers and go outside to play, but getting them to go outside might be difficult, so I’ve made a list of games you can make and play in your backyard with your kids that will hopefully get them outside and away from the screens.
Garden Paver Hopscotch
Bean Bag Toss
It will cost you $1.26 per paver, how many you get depends on how big you want to make it, recommended 10 pavers. Spray paint will cost anywhere between $3-$9 each.
If you drill some pots of varying sizes to a wooden board, largest at the bottom and smallest a the top and number them, you can try and toss bean bags or rocks into the pots and use the numbers as points and see who can gets the highest score.
You can make a moveable hopscotch game out of a few garden pavers and some paint, when your done you can leave them in your yard or stack them somewhere out of the way and when the the kids gets bigger you can even move the pavers apart to make the jumps bigger.
You will need a wooden board and pots of varying sizes, how many pots and how long a board is up to you, and if you want to add some colour, grab some paint. You can get everything you need at your local hardware store or Bunnings. From Bunnings for the normal size in the picture it cost around $36 (price may vary)
Tire Swing If you have an old tire laying around and a big tree, you could make a tire swing for your kids to play on, you will need: Author: NB 09/19 |Acknowledgments: diyncrafts.com, thehomesihavemade.com, momendeavors.com

An old Tire
Rope
A Drill
And a Big tree will help
First make sure the tire is clean and drill some holes in the bottom so water can drain out when it rains, hang your rope around a branch and tie a slipknot, and then wrap the rope around the tire and tie another slipknot and you’re done.
Ring Toss A ring toss could keep the kids busy for hours, get a circle or rectangle piece of wood, drill some holes the size of the dowels you have, cut the dowels to the length you want them, some smaller and bigger for different scores or paint them different colours for different scores, its entirely up to you. Place the dowels in the holes and that’s the board done. Next get some nylon rope and cut them into 12” pieces, cut as many pieces for as many rings that you want. Make a ring with the rope pieces and super glue the ends together, and then wrap the rope in coloured duct tape, try making different ring colours so the kids can have a colour each.
Chalkboard Table Why not make the kids play area table into a chalkboard table that they can draw on for hours. Simply buy a wooden kids table if you don’t have one already and get some chalkboard paint from your local hardware store or Bunnings and paint the top of the table and let it sit for 3 days before drawing on it.
Bookcase Sandpit If you have an old bookcase your planning to get rid of, you can easily turn it into a small sandpit for your kids. Give it a coat of paint in bright colours the kids would enjoy, remove a shelves so you only have one as a divider, make sure theres a big section and a smaller section, Sand in the big section and toys in the smaller section. You may have to reinforce the bookcase with extra screws before putting the sand in. Author: NB 09/19 |Acknowledgments: diyncrafts.com, thehomesihavemade.com, momendeavors.com

Recycling Rubbish Art Recycling your old tires:
This simple but cool look at how you can recycle your old tires and use them for something good is a rare but effective way to use items that you would usually throw out. Doing this will not only help the local environment but put a unique spin to your own garden and surprise your friends with new and funny ways to liven up your garden. This is just one of the ways you can contribute to the environment by using old items.
This is just two ways you can use old tires and give them a new and funny look to give to your garden. A new purpose for these tires is far better than just throwing them out and it puts a little creativity in your lives instead of just going to the tip. So make the change today and show off your creativity in your own styles and patterns as you transform not just your yard but your life aswell.
Recycling your old glass bottles:
This is another way you can re-use old items, you can use old bottles for this very idea or you can use them as the border of the garden bed or even making them into a bottle bird that will blow your friends away especially if you have many different colours to use. So don’t throw your old things today and start to re-use them instead and make the world a brighter and cleaner place for you and your friends for the future.
Recycling your denim jeans: This is one of the most funny things I have ever seen and has got me thinking about doing the same thing. This is just great that people have such good imaginations and they are still suprising me to this day. This was a great idea because denim is a very strong meterial and wont break down for a long time so this is great that they recycled them rather then just tossing them out.

CDTLI members are an enthusiastic bunch who rush out there and plant just before the wet season to promote optimal growth. They don the waders and chemical spray packs just at the end of the wet season, eagerly awaiting the first weeds and they pull out the heavy artillery and create firebreaks at the beginning of the dry season, all in a passionate zest for our environment. CDTLI also partners with other organisations and community groups to increase our impact on environmental rehabilitation.Through education and promotion, CDTLI volunteers continue to ensure the wellbeing of Townsville’s natural resources, allowing them to exist for many years to come. Mundy Creek Natureway : The project area lies between Dearness St, Garbutt and south of the Airport / Old Common Road. It includes the waterways and the land on both sides of the creek. The natureway is currently degraded and (in the past) neglected, despite being a major pedestrian and recreational site used by residents and visitors of the area. The views are expansive to the surrounding ranges and the adjacent grassland is an endangered, ecologically significant area. Wetlands such as Mundy Creek and our new Bohle Wetlands site are important to maintain due to the many roles they play in our ecosystem.
Specialising in local provenance native plants for revegetation projects and the home garden. The seeds are collected from within 50 km of Townsville, giving the plants you buy the best chance of surviving in the Townsville climate. Purchase tubestock or become involved in propagation, planting, seed collection, seed processing, and plant ID. Enjoy a walk through the shady Bush Garden on the riverbank or have a cuppa and a chat. The Bush Garden Nursery Stocklist is available here. Due to the volume of sales with the Water Smart program, our Stocklist will not be updated every week and plants listed here may not be available. Turtle Bridge: The new Marabou Drive project was launched in August 2010 and nicknamed “Turtle Bridge”. The new site is located downstream from the original site, on the bank of the river near the turtle bridge. A planting day was held on National Tree Day (1 August 2010) where the amazing staff from Sullivan Nicholaides Pathology, Townsville planted 1050 trees! What a fantastic effort! Prior to the planting day the site was virtually devoid of native vegetation and dominated by Para grass, Singapore daisy and Leucaena. The site is also an important nesting site for the freshwater turtles of the river, as the sandy river bank provides an ideal place to lay eggs.
Where is the Bush Garden and Nursery? Drive outbound along Ross River Road, turn at Thompson St towards the River. Park near the Townsville Community Learning Centre. Walk east (downstream) along the bike path until you see the Bush Garden Nursery. Or Drive outbound along Ross River Road, turn at O’Reilly St towards the River. Turn right at Burt Street. Park near the Soccer Field and walk across or around the field to the Bush Garden Nursery. Bush Garden: Ross River Bush Garden is one of Townsville’s oldest community revegetation sites and incorporates open riparian forest, vine thicket, eucalypt woodland, wetlands, open grasslands, as well as the man-made Baza Island – a valuable, predator-free habitat for wildlife. Goondaloo Creek: lies adjacent to the Palliative Care Centre at the Townsville Hospital, Douglas, and has been built with a true sense of community spirit, with funds for construction raised by the Queensland Cancer Council. Various community groups were consulted by Queensland Health during construction to help revegetate the creek area adjacent to the centre. CDTLI heeded this call and, in true community spirit, held a revegetation day in January 2010, with volunteers from CVA, JCU and the hospital participating. On this day 50 trees were planted and weeds were removed. Following this day, CDTLI decided to hold regular monthly working bees at this site to continue the work to improve the amenity of the area for the residents of the centre

Spring Gardening Tips and Ideas
Spring has bursted onto the scene. The winter chill has lifted, the days are getting longer and your garden is about to liven up. Here are some great ideas to get your garden looking its best over the coming months. Make grass greener To get your grass going again, get out the garden fork and aerate your lawn. In early spring, apply a weed killer to remove broadleaf weeds and those pesky bindii. Follow up a few weeks later with lawn fertiliser to keep the grass growing strong and prevent new weeds. If you have some bare patches or want to start a whole new lawn from scratch, now is the time to prepare the lawn to grow grass from seeds. When the soil warms up, you’ll be able to establish your grass before the heat of summer hits. Trim and tidy Prune trees and shrubs to remove any withered winter leaves. Trim your hedges to encourage new growth. If you haven’t done it already, summer flowering shrubs like hibiscus and hydrangea should be trimmed now so all their energy goes into producing beautiful blooms. Leave it any later and you risk cutting off the buds. Time to plant Spring is the perfect time to plant just about anything. The soil moisture is still high and plants can become established before the heatwave hits. To add organic matter and nitrogen to your veggie patch, consider a green manure crop. Once it starts shooting, dig it back into the soil for a

naturally prepared bed. For a complete list of what to plant based on where you live, check out a spring planting guide. Fertilise Before the growing season gets into full swing, just about everything will appreciate a good dose of fertiliser. Blood and bone and dynamic lifter are perfect for Australian natives. Just throw a handful over every four square metres. Dig compost and manure through the veggie patch and soluble fertilisers to any veggies that you already have planted. Potted plants will love liquid fertiliser for a quick boost and a dose of slow release fertiliser to keep them going. Use specialist fertilisers for roses, citrus and orchids as they contain the particular nutrients these plants need. Watch out for pests As the weather warms up aphids become active in the veggie patch or on the new growth of roses. Psyllids can also appear on the new growth of Lilly Pillies and need to be controlled to prevent them spreading. Use a garden insecticide to keep them in check.
Spring Gardening Fertilisers
Spring has just begun and it’s a great time in Townsville to prepare your garden after the cooler winter weather and the expected rainfall of the Wet Season.
FERTILISERS It’s a good time to fertilise native plants with fertilisers like Blood &Bone and Seasol. Australian natives don’t like fertilisers high in phosphourous such as Chicken Manure as it burns them. There are many sorts of fertilisers, organic, mineral and fish emulsion, which are all available at local hardware stores. Organic Fertilisers help to improve the molecular structure of the soil. They alsooffer micronutrients to help fight bacterial and fungal disease and they are better for the enviornment.
Mineral fertilisers are availabe at local hardware stores in the area and include Nitrogenious Fertiliser (N) ,Phosphate Fertiliser(P) and Potassic Fertiliser for increased Potassium(K).
NKP levels are printed in a format on the Fertilisers . You should read these levels and make sure that they are not too high in phosphorous as this will damage native plants and shrubs. COMPOST Compost is undoubtably the most commonly used garden fertiliser as its easy to make yourself and can be free. Compost is made from de composted organic waste products such as vegetable scraps, grass cuttings, leaves twigs and even egg shells This mixture is so rich in essential nutrients as it is a well balanced blend of Nitrogen , Phosphorous and Potassium.
MULCH Mulching your plants and vegetables at this time is also recommended as this allows for water retention for the roots and helps the plant keep cool and also reduces weeds. Mulch is another product to harvest from the garden by products. Mulch will work hard to replenish soil nutrients such as Nitrogen, Phosporous and Potassium. The Townsville City Council are offering fertilisers, mulch and a compost bin as part of their Water Saving Packages. You can visit there website https://www.townsville.qld.gov.au for further information on their water saving packages.

Spring Gardening Native Plants
The most recognisable plants in the state of Queensland are the wattles (Acacia species) and eucalyptus (Eucalyptus and Corymbia species) that dominate many ecosystems, along with commonly cultivated native plants such as lilly pillies (Syzygium species) and Callistemons (Melaleuca species). Between the coastal mangrove communities and the rainforest environments of our highest peaks in Queensland, we estimate there are up to 1,500 plant species, encompassing the largest trees, to grasses, ferns and mosses. Each state in Australia has different plants and climates. So make sure you buy the right plants for the state your in, ive got 6 plants to show you 2 that are wild native plants to queensland, and the other 4 are garden plants that you can buy from nurseries these 6 plants flower in spring :

Spring Gardening Pets
Now that spring has arrived, those of us with pets are looking forward to spending more time with them outside. However spring does come with its own health warnings. There are things we need to be mindful of to keep our pets safe and healthy this spring.
However, these chemicals pose a significant health concern for pets. The safest option is to forgo using any of these products in your yard. If that’s not possible, seek out pet safe options when available. Allergies: Spring time can cause allergies to arise in our pets, just as much as they do in us. Common allergens for dogs include: flowering trees, dandelions, tulips, insects, dust and mold. Allergy symptoms can manifest themselves in the form of itching, coughing, sneezing, flaky skin or extra oily coat. Keep an eye out for these symptoms in order to help ease your dog’s discomfort.
GARDEN DANGERS FOR PETS Snail and slug baits: This is a relatively common form of poisoning seen in pets, and is both distressing and dangerous. Dogs especially can be attracted to baits in pellet form as they look similar to dry dog food. Toxic Plants: Not all plants are animal friendly. If your dog ingests just a small amount of these common plants, it can lead to serious health issues. Just a few potentially dangerous plants include: Azalea, Bittersweet, Crocus, Day Lily, Ferns, Lily of the Valley, Morning Glory, Tiger Lily, and Tulip Fertilizers and Pesticides: What springtime gardening routine is complete without adding fertilizer to grow grass/plants, and pesticides to kill off unwanted bugs and weeds.
Bees & wasp: Unfortunately, bees and wasps don’t discriminate and our pets are just as likely to get stung as we are! If you notice any hives developing in your area, be sure to keep an eye out on your pet as they play outside. Fleas & Ticks: Cases of fleas and ticks are far more common in spring. The first sign that your pet might have fleas is excessive scratching, biting or licking at the skin, ticks will also show the same first sign symptoms.

IS YOUR GARDEN PET FRIENDLY?
Retching, coughing (sometimes it is a moist cough), vomiting Excessive salivation/drooling Loss of appetite Progressive paralysis to include the forelegs Difficulty breathing or rapid breathing Grunting noises when breathing If you’re not sure, but your dog or cat is showing abnormal behaviour or symptoms, better safe than sorry – consult your vet as quickly as possible.
USE THIS
NOT THAT MULCH
Shredded pine Cedar Bark Stone/Gravel
Cocca Mulch
BUG REPELLANT Neem Oil Castor Oil Canola Oil Coffee grounds
Search pets thoroughly at least once a day, using your fingertips to feel carefully through the animal’s coat. Ticks or tick craters can be felt as lumps on the skin surface. Most ticks are found forward of the front legs, especially on the face, neck and ears. However, remember to search the entire pet.
Toxic Pesticides Snail bait Fly bait FERTILIZER
Manure Seaweed Compost Fish emulsion Roses Sunflowers Snapdragons Native plants Marigolds
Fertilizers with iron carbamates or compost organophates PLANTS & FOWERS Brunfelsia ( yesterday, today & tommorrow) Oleander Daffodils, tulips, daisies ( its the bulbs that are attractive to Dogs)
Signs of poisoning? If your dog has consumed a toxic product, they may show symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea, excessive salivating, muscle tremors, staggering or muscle weakness, and seizures. If you suspect poisoning, it’s vital that you act as quickly as possible. Don’t try to treat your dog or cat at home – contact your veterinarian immediately to seek emergency medical help. Signs of ticks? Paralysis tick can be fatal but can often be treated if you act quickly. Know the signs
Loss of coordination in the hind legs (wobbliness in the back legs), staggering or not being able to get up Weakness in the back legs A change in the sound of the bark or voice
BEYOND GARDEN SAFETY Keep them out of the garden. Some people prefer to simply fence off certain areas to make them inaccessible to pets. (Making sure, of course that any fencing does not pose a risk of entanglement.) Another option is to use natural, non-toxic substances as doggy deterrents. Possible options are dried mustard, red pepper flakes, coffee grounds, or bitter orange.
Make your dog a path. Many dogs love to skirt fence lines or the area along foundation of the house. Leaving a perimeter wide enough for them to patrol comfortably may prevent them from trampling your plants. Some pet parents have also found that creating a doggie path through the garden is helpful.
Consider raised bed gardening. Sometimes raising a garden bed up a foot or so is all that’s needed to discourage pets from charging through.
Prevent lawn burn. As much as we love our dogs, we don’t love what they do to our grass. For most dog owners, brown patches scattered around the lawn are a fact of life. You could control this by confining your dog to a specific area of the yard. Or you could try Dog Rocks, a natural, pet friendly product that makes dog urine grass-friendly by neutralizing the nitrates it contains.

Terrarium Make your own indoor garden
What is a Terrarium? A terrarium is a collection of small, decorative plants growing in an enclosed environment. Terrarium containers are typically transparent and provide an opening big enough to allow the gardener to access the plants inside. The best part about a DIY terrarium is that you get to create something one-of-a-kind.
Plants – It wouldn’t be a terrarium without the greenery. Pick out a few of your favorite pint-sized plants to use in your terrarium. Air plants, succulents and mini-cacti are all viable options. See our complete list of recommended terrarium plants below.
SUPPLIES Glass Vessel – You’ll need some sort of glass vessel to create your terrarium. There are plenty of unique containers from which to choose. Just make sure that the vessel is made of a transparent material so you can enjoy your mini-garden. Small Stones or Pebbles – Small stones or pebbles will be used as the base of your terrarium. The small pebbles act as water drainage for the plants’ roots to ensure that excess water doesn’t stay in the soil and cause rot. Activated Charcoal – You won’t need much; a thin layer of activated charcoal keeps water fresh and helps to fight off bacterial growth in your terrarium. Potting Soil – Potting soil will act as an important layer for your DIY terrarium. Any type of soil should do the trick, although there are special mixes available if you’re planting cacti or succulents. Author: L.B 09/19| Acknowledgments: https://www.proflowers.com
Small Gardening Tools – Having small tools handy will help you create and situate all of the items in your DIY terrarium.
When selecting plants to use for your DIY terrarium, there are a few things you should keep in mind:
Select plants that are small enough for your glass vessel. You won’t want any greenery touching the sides of your container and making your terrarium feel cramped.
Plants that do well with humidity are most likely to thrive in your terrarium. Although succulents and cacti aren’t humidity’s biggest fans, you can compensate by using a glass container with a slight opening, like the one we used for this tutorial.
Step 3: Add a layer of potting soil. As we mentioned, any potting soil mix will do, although if you’re planting succulents or cacti there are specialized mixes you can use. You’ll want to add enough potting soil so that it’s deep enough for your plants to root into it. We recommend a layer that’s about 2 ½ inches. For this particular terrarium, we used 2 inches of potting soil.
Step 4: Now it’s time to add your plants.
METHOD Step 1: Cover the bottom of your terrarium with a 1 ½ inch-thick layer of small stones or pebbles. The bottom layer of small pebbles will act as drainage for your terrarium.
Step 2: Add a very thin layer of activated charcoal. The activated charcoal will keep water fresh and fight off any bacterial growth in your terrarium.
Author: L.B 09/19| Acknowledgments: https://www.proflowers.com
Start by planting your largest plant first. Remove the plant from its container and prune the roots as you would when repotting any plant.
Then, make a hole in the soil large enough to fit the plants’ roots.
Next, nestle the plant into the soil. It’s easiest to work your way from the back to the front of your terrarium. There’s no rhyme or reason to the design of your terrarium, play around with the arrangement and don’t forget to have fun! Pro Tip: Use gloves when handling cactus or any other prickly plant.
Step 5: After all of your plants are arranged in your glass vessel, complete the look with a layer of pebbles. You can also opt to add some personality to your terrarium with miniature gnomes or trinkets.

Pressed Herb Candles Preserve the smells of your garden
MATERIALS (Makes 2 x 8oz candles)
METHOD
1/2 lb beeswax
Harvest young, thin-branched rosemary sprigs or other herbs from your garden and press them between heavy books or a wooden press for a week, until they are very flat and dry.
1/2 lb soy wax #2 medium candle wick Metal tabs Glue dots Essential oils (see blending notes in the instructions. This project used: Fir Needle, Bergamot, Himalayan Cedarwood and Juniper Berry) Pressed young rosemary sprigs 2 x 8oz jars Additional Tools
Metal wax pitcher (or tin can) Saucepan (to create a double broiler) Craft paintbrush Pliers Peg Popsicle stick Tea towel
Author: L.B 09/19| Acknowledgments: https://gardentherapy
Cut the rosemary sprigs to length so they will sit at least 1″ below the rim of the jar. When making candles, you can use anywhere from onehalf ounce (15 ml) to a full ounce (30 ml) of essential oils per pound of wax, depending on how strong the scents are. Some essential oils can overpower a blend, so adjust accordingly. This recipe uses one-half ounce (15 ml) to create an evergreen scented blend because of the potency of the oils. This blend is easiest to weigh in milliliters to create the half ounce used:
6 ml fir needle essential oil
4 ml bergamot essential oil
4 ml Himalayan cedarwood essential oil
1 ml juniper berry essential oil
Once your wax is melted, remove from the pan and use a popsicle stick to stir in the essential oils. Then pour the wax into each prepared jar. Let dry.
Once you have the pressed herbs and essential oil blend ready, it’s time to start making candles! Create a double boiler using a saucepan with an inch or two of water and a metal pitcher or tin can. Place the wax into the pitcher and let melt completely.
While the wax is melting, use tongs to dip the rosemary sprigs into the melted wax and then place against the side of the jar. Use a craft paintbrush to brush melted wax over the rosemary to hold it in place. Wrap the outside of the jars in a dish towel and set aside to set. Cooling slowly and completely will create the best looking candles. Allow your candle to cure for 48 hours undisturbed. Once cured, trim the wicks with scissors.
Cut your wick to size and use pliers to attach a metal tab. Then add a glue dot to the bottom and place into the center of your jar. Use clothespins to secure the wick and keep it centered.

DIY: BIRD FEEDER Plate and Bowl Bird Feeder Place a washer onto the head of the bolt and push the bolt up through the bottom part of the bowl. Slide second washer down onto inside of bowl. Secure the washers to the bowl with glue.
Thread a nut a few inches down from the end of the bolt.
You will need:
Place your plate upside down on the nut, then another nut above to secure the plate between the two. Be careful to only hand tighten the top nut so as not to crack your plate.
Melamine Bowl and Plate
Large carriage bolt approx. 10”x5/8”
Three washers
Three nuts
Glue
Nylon cord cut into 2 x 60cm pieces
Place the third washer and another nut on to the end of the bolt. This will help secure your cord for hanging.
Drill and standard drill bit If you want to use ceramic or porcelain, you will need to buy a specific drill bit
Other Ideas: You could also use an eye bolt or threaded rod for this rather than a carriage bolt. The eye bolt will need assembling in reverse but provides an instant hanger. The threaded rod would eliminate the need for glueing but would require five nuts instead of three. Make a second feeder and silicone around the washer inside the bowl, and you have a water feeder !
Making the feeder: Drill a hole in the centre of the plate and bowl. To help avoid cracking or splitting, place a block of scrap wood under the bowl and plate before drilling. A piece of masking tape over the area to be drilled will also help.

YOU WILL NEED: 2 Mason, Jam or Vegemite Jars 4mm - 5mm Twine Rope Plant Clippings Nails, Screws or Wall Hooks. Hot Glue Warm Water (If cleaning is required) TOOLS: Hammer (Or Drill for Screws) Hot Glue Gun Scissors Sheers Steel Wool (If cleaning is required)

7. 8.
Clean your jars, make sure there is no label or contents still within the jar. Soaking in warm water and steel wool is recommended. Leave to dry. Roll out some twine rope, take the tip of the rope, hot glue it to the neck of the jar. Wrap the rope around the neck a couple of times. Tie a knot, or glue down the rope still connected to the spool. Keep reeling out more rope from the spool, this can be estimated by how much slack you would like to leave to hang the rope. From a selected point of slack, glue that point to the jar neck, and with the spool, wrap the neck a couple of times. Use your scissors to cut the rope from the spool. Hot glue the end of the rope to the coiled rope on the jar. 5. Choose a location on a wall to hang your jars. A stickon wall hook works just as well. But if you are using nails or screws, carefully position the nail or screw on a stud in the wall. Be careful when using tools to drive a screw or nail in to the wall. Leave enough hanging out to hang the jars. To secure the jars from slipping, wrap the rope around the screw or nail multiple times to suspend the jars at different heights to prevent the jars from running into each other. Make the jars look pretty by inserting plant clippings or other colourful items into the jars. Admire!

DIY: Cement Plant Pots
Items You’ll Need:
METHOD
Kitchen style gloves with long cuffs
1. Mixing The Ingredients
Dust Mask
First, put on your gloves and dust mask. The ingredients are powdery when dry and you do not want to breath the dust or touch the cement powder with your bare hands. Its very caustic and can cause extreme skin dryness and burns.
Portland Cement (NOT concrete) You can use white or gray Peat Moss or coconut fiber Large Mixing Container (something long and shallow works best… like a rubbermaid container) Cloth to use for your project. This can be any old rag, dishtowels, burlap, whatever you have on hand. Plastic grocery bags Plastic Sheeting to place project on to dry A mold tall enough to drape your cement cloth over (try 5 gallon buckets, stacked nursery pots, or any other tall item that can support the weight of the cement saturated cloth
Mix 2 parts portland cement with 1 part peat moss and 1 part pearlite, with your hands dry in your mixing container. Once you have all of the ingredients mixed up you’ll add water until its wet and gloppy. You need to add the water slowly, mixing in between, to distribute the water equally throughout the mud. Once your mix is wet, you can remove your dust mask but not your gloves. Add water until you are a little wetter than chunky peanut butter consistency. You can also experiment with different mixes. Some folks like their end result to be smoother than the woody effect of the perlite, peat moss mix. If you are going for that look, mix your cement with builder sand instead, for a smoother finish.

2. Add Your Cloth Wet the cloth you will use with water and squeeze it out till it’s damp, and then, put it into the mixture, turning and swirling in the cement mixture, making sure it is completely saturated with the cement mix. If your mix dries out when adding the cloth, add a little more water being sure it is thoroughly combined with the mix. When your cloth is truly saturated you are ready to drape it over your stand. You can use more than one saturated cloth and cloth with different textures are kind of fun to mix together. Each piece needs to be thoroughly saturated with the mix.
3. Prepare Your Stand Mould Prepare your stand (mould) first by placing it upside down on top of some sheet plastic and covering it with a plastic grocery bag. I use stacked nursery pots for this. 3 gallon size works great. Depending on the size of the cloth you are using you want the mould to be high enough that the cement draping does not touch the ground. You’ll probably want to locate your moulds outdoors in a sunny spot.
more mix to the top of your project (which will be the base of your pot) to thicken it a little. There are all kinds of affects you can play with. For instance, if your cloth is actually hitting the ground, try swirling it LOOSELY around the mould at the bottom. The result is very cool. Helpful Hints and Ideas You can use stepping stone mix as an easier and cheaper alternative. Try using different types of material to create a unique piece with a different texture.
Use your left over cement to make hands by simply pouring the cement into a glove until dry. You can make fruit bowls or little jewellery holders using doilies that have been put inside a bowl to dry.
Try making other things like using clothes or a boot. Use your imagination and have fun experimenting with different style pots.
Once your mould is prepared, simply take your cement saturated cloth and drape it over your bucket, stacked nursery pots or whatever you are using as your stand. You can arrange it however you like and move it so that the cloth drapes in the fashion you envision. When your cloth is draped, you can glop on more mix to the outside if it looks bare in any spots. You can also add

Method In just a couple of hours you can transform 3 pallets into a bench for 2 or more pick any colour you like and decorate it with cushions for your spring break.
Step 1.Sand pallets so there all as smooth as you can get them Author: (PJ and 09/19) | Acknowledgments: https://www.idealhome.co.uk/diy-and-decorating/pallet-garden-furniture-204763
Step 2. Stir the paint thoroughly and then apply to all three pallets one at a time do the top side first,Using a mini roller for an even finish. You will need two coats of paint.
Step 6. Now support the 2 pallets stacked by using metalfastening plates. Set the plates across the front blocks not the back or sides and screw it down with 1inch rust resistant screws. ( If you don’t have metal fastening plates just use a piece of old metal that you can drill through for some support).
Step 3. Leave the paint to dry for one hour or until dry then flip the pallet over and paint its under side you may need the paint brush to get into the hard to reach places. Step 7. Add another pallet propped in a vertical position at the back of the two pallets stacked up so it will form the back of the bench.secure the back by screwing the back pallet to the 2 or 3 stacked pallets.
Step 4. Once pallets are fully dry its time to make the base: Stack 2 or 3 pallets on top of each other when your happy with the size make sure there in line with eachother then secure the pallets.
Step 8. Now its time to decorate you can make your own or order a pallet cushion for a perfect fit or just get a bunch of cushions and lay them out to your cozy standard add some decos around the bench and your ready for comfy spring break.
Step 5. Fasten two pallets together by driving 3-inch deck screws at an angle through the block of one pallet into that of another make sure to screw on the sides of all the blocks.
If one bench isnt enough simply do the same process and sit them side by side you don’t even need to attach them you could make a lounge outdoors and the paint is optional.

DIY: Plastic Baskets Rope Throw Basket
SUPPLIES
METHOD
Round laundry basket (you can easily buy on from Big W or Kmart for about $2.00)
Step 1.
1 jar Metallics paint (or any type of paint you like) About 15 metres of ½ Jute rope About 1metre of felt, fleece or muslin Hot glue gun and glue sticks Utility knife Paint brush
Author: L.B 09/19 | Acknowledgments: https://lydioutloud.com
With your hot glue gun, attach the felt to the base of the laundry basket, folding and gluing pleats as you go.
Step 2 Cut off excess material around the side and glue the seam up to the top of the basket. You don’t want to cut off the felt at the top, you’ll use it later.
Step 5 Tuck the material back into the basket and now it’s your basket line
Step 3 Starting at the base of the basket, hot glue the rope and wrap around the entire basket, stopping when the top is tucked just under the lip of the basket.
Step 6 You can paint your basket any way you like, in the tutorial they did an ombré effect. Start by adding a small amount of paint to your brush, begin at about a quarter of the way down from the top. Dry brush the paint from that starting point and work down to the base of the basket. After the entire bottom color block is painted in the wash of paint, go down to the base of the basket to build up the color.
Step 4 Fold the felt back so that it is hanging outside of the basket. Using a utility knife, cut off the top rim/handles of the laundry basket.

DIY: Wood Shoe Organiser
Have you got a tonne of shoes laying around in your room making it look like a total mess? Well there is an easy solution to that problem. This article is all about how to DIY your very own shoe organiser and don’t worry its easier than it may seem. This article will show you how to build it with only 6 simple steps. So what you’re going to be making is a wooden shoe organizer that can fit up to 10 shoes. It also has a transparent lid to see what’s inside and moveable dividers to keep all the shoes organized.
Jig saw or blade runner x2 Safety glasses Ear plugs To cut down on cost & time use can reuse old pallets. METHOD You can access the plans for this DIY under bed shoe organizer on BuildSomething.com
EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES Lumber Plans Plexiglass Casters Pulls of your choice Hinges of your choice 1 ¼” pocket hole screws ¾” wood screws Wood glue Kreg pocket hole jig.( full tutorial on how to use a Kreg ) Kreg right angle clamp Power drill Circular saw Miter saw Author: KDR 09/19 | Acknowledgments: https://www.anikasdiylife.com/diy-under-bed-shoe-organizer/
1. BUILDING THE BOX All the pocket holes are on the underside of the plywood. To join it to the sides, use the edge of the workbench as support and clamped using the Kreg right angle clamp to hold while you fasten them.
4. ATTACHING HINGES You can use a regular piano hinge. In this case, the original builder decided to use the lid support torsion hinges to make it safer.
2.CUTTING THE DIVIDERS AND PLEXIGLASS Cut the dividers and plexiglass. To cut the plexiglass and the dividers, you can use a Blade Runner X2. However, you can very easily do this using a Jig Saw as well.
3. ATTACHING PLEXIGLASS TO THE LID Attach the plexiglass to the lid. You can also route the insides of the lid to insert the plexiglass. Decide to keep this build simple to use simple tools. Use ž" wood screws to attach plexiglass to the lid. Drill holes into the plexiglass very slowly. Use a masking tape to keep it from shattering and stop as soon as you hit the wood underneath. By the end of the steps you will have completed your DIY shoe organiser so you do not have to worry about all the shoes you have lying around your room or the house. Just remember when it comes to creating your own DIY projects that you can be as creative as you can be which the whole point of it is. It allows the creator to come up with different styles of similar projects creating their uniqueness to the piece created.

DIY: Wine Bottle Outdoor ‘Tiki’ Light
MATERIALS
Empty Wine Bottle (You can use any bottle you like as long as it’s glass and the neck is 1” in diameter. Be clever!)
Teflon Tape 1/2”
Copper Top Plate Connector (threaded for 3/8”-16 thread rod)
1” Split Ring Hanger (threaded for 3/8”-16 thread rod)
1/2” x 3/8” Copper Coupling
1/2” Copper Cap
Two Hex Nuts (threaded for 3/8”-16 thread rod)
Two #10 x 1” Zinc Plated Wood Screws (if your mounting it to wood)
3/8”-16 Zinc Plated Threaded Rod (I bought a 3’ rod and cut it down to 8, 4-1/2” rods with a hacksaw.)
Replacement Wick
Fuel (For safety reasons, only use fuel made specifically for outdoor torches.)
METHOD The Hanger 1. Decide where you want to mount your Recycled Bottle light. Position the Top Plate Connector on your mounting surface and mark the holes for where the screws will go. It’s easier to keep it level if you pre-drill your screws first.
Helpful Tools: Pliers, adjustable wrench, hacksaw, power screwdriver, and a funnel
Author: (TD 09/19) | Acknowledgments: http://www.designsponge.com/2009/08/diy-project-eriks-recycled-wine-bottle-torch.html
2. Once you have your Top Plate Connector mounted you can screw in the 3/8”-16 Rod until it stops.
3. Unscrew the Split Ring Hanger on one side and position the bottle neck into the ring.
3. Thread the two Hex Nuts on to the Rod and tighten one all the way down at the point where the Rod meets the Top Connector Plate. Leave the other Hex Nut at the front end so it can be used to secure the Split Ring Hanger.
4. Flip the front half of the ring back into place and tighten down the Hanger evenly on both sides. You may need to loosen the other side to make sure both sides are an even tightness. (Don’t over tighten the Hanger. You don’t want to break the glass.)
4. Thread on the Split Ring Hanger just enough so that the Rod is flush with the inside of the ring. Turn the 2nd Hex Nut counter-clockwise to snug it up against the Split Ring Hanger.
5. Use a funnel to fill the bottle with your favorite oil. (Citronella oil is great for keeping bugs away.)
If you’d prefer your hardware to keep its shiny, unweathered look you can always give it several coats of clear polyurethane before you mount it.
6. Insert the Coupling & Wick into the top of the bottle and twist it snugly into place. Give the Wick a few minutes to absorb the oil before you try to light it.
The Bottle 1. Carefully and tightly wrap the 1/2” end of the Coupling with your Teflon Tape. You’ll want to keep each wrap nice and clean so that it creates a smooth, even surface. Continue building up the tape until it fits very snugly into the opening of your bottle. You obviously don’t want it to fall in. 2. Insert the Wick into the Coupling until it sticks out about 1/4”. The Tiki brand replacement wicks are about 3/8” in diameter so they fit really well. Once they absorb the oil they’re even tighter.
7. Extinguish flame after use. Use the Copper Cap to keep the Wick dry when you’re not using your light.

DIY: Crates Coffee Table
MATERIALS
METHOD
4 pieces of old crates
Take the crates and the electric wood sander, and sand the entire edges the crates have. This is way safer if you are terrible with sharp edges.
4 pieces of L brackets, small ones Wood sander, skip if you don’t need to sand the edges 24 pieces of wood screws, the 5/8 ones 4 pieces of caster wheel, ones with locks Paint brush, towel, or foam Wood stain or colour paint 1 piece of plywood, the heave duty one
Now, clean the crate from debris and dirt, and we can start staining the wood. You can use paint brush, towel, or foam to do this. Stain the entire surface inside and outside and let it dry. Repeat the same procedure once again. You will need at least two layers of staining or more, depending on your crate condition
Author: L.B 09/19 | Acknowledgments: http://thehomedecorlover.com/
While waiting for the carts to dry, take the plywood. Attach the caster wheels on one side of the ply wood. One wheel should be attached on one corner of the plywood. Measure first to make sure they are attach on the same exact position.
Now, let’s assemble the coffee table. Arrange the crates on top of the plywood. Here, the inside of the crates are facing out, and they are set horizontally. At the side that touches the plywood, drill at least 4 screws to secure the position. Continue this procedure with all crates. Next, when the crates are well attached to the plywood base, we need to secure them to each other as well. Drill and add screws on the side where your crates are attached to each other.
With crates are forming a table now, measure the middle side of the table, the space between the crates. We are going to fit in a piece of plywood there so you can place a vase or anything on it. Cut the plywood based on the measurement, and sand it. Give it the same stain as the crates and let it dry.
Attach the L brackets on the crates. Here, there are two sides that get the brackets, and each side gets a pair of them. Then, add the last piece of plywood in it. Your coffee table is ready.
