CHANCE TO WIN A CAR IN FIAT GROUP MOT CAMPAIGN A new year push to encourage drivers to have their vehicle MOT tested at authorised Fiat and Alfa Romeo workshops has just been launched – with the chance to win a new car as an incentive. Customers who have their Fiat or Alfa Romeo put through the annual safety check at an authorised dealer will be entered into a prize draw, with the keys to a new Fiat Punto Evo or Alfa MiTo as the top prize, depending on where they have the test carried out. The prize draw promotion runs until June. The campaign has been launched by Fiat Group Automobiles UK to reinforce the importance of regular servicing by approved and authorised dealerships and to increase the number of MOT tests and services booked at Fiat Group centres. “Cars over three years old must have an MOT test, and having your car regularly serviced helps increase the chances of passing its test first time,” says Rob Calver, parts and services director, Fiat Group Automobiles UK. “Fiat has prepared a service schedule
which is designed to safeguard a car’s operating conditions and efficiencies built in at manufacture. “Following the service schedule not only allows for the performance, fuel consumption and environmental standards to be respected throughout the life of your car, but also ensures the vehicle is maintained in the correct condition to help it pass its MOT test.” Fiat Group authorised dealers have modern, fully equipped workshops staffed by Fiat trained technicians. They use Genuine Fiat Parts which come with a 12 months unlimited mileage warranty. The ‘Win a Car’ prize draw will take place on 18 July 2011.

THE FIRST PEUGEOT i0n ELECTRIC CAR IS DELIVERED IN THE UK
The first Peugeot i0n car in the UK, the company’s latest generation electric car, has been sold and delivered to EDF Energy, Britain’s largest producer of low carbon electricity, for use in its fleet including testing recharging solutions.
It is also the first vehicle to qualify under the Government’s OLEV scheme*. Recently, the Government announced a £5,000 OLEV grant to support the introduction of electric vehicles which came into force this month. Eric Salomon, Energy Field Services 8 TARMAG.CO.UK

BERNARD MATTHEWS GOBBLES UP THREE NEW VOLVO TRUCKS Three new Volvo FM threeaxle tractors have helped Bernard Matthews Farms through their Christmas rush. The iconic turkey farmers took the new trucks onto their fleet as the feathers star ted to fly in the run up to the festive season. Transpor t Manager Jef f Helmore said, “ We had a couple of Volvos on our feed fleet a 12 TARMAG.CO.UK
while back, but these three new Volvo FMs will be working on the main fleet pulling live bird collection trailers and doing their share of fridge work too.” With a fleet of for ty tractors, eighty trailers and a few light rigids, the Bernard Matthews transpor t operation is successfully through their usual manic end to the year.

The Volvo FM-420 6x2 tractors have been acquired on an HP deal and they will be ser viced by the supplying dealer, Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia’s Nor wich Dealerpoint, under a repair and maintenance contract. On the road for November 1st, the trucks are settling in well. Jef f Helmore adds, “It’s early days on fuel

AutoSpor t International has been a set on stone date in our diar y now for the past 3 years. It’s a great show which allows you to get up close and personal with the sport’s biggest starts and some of the greatest cars old and new! The trip down to Autospor t International meant leaving the af ternoon before to allow us to be at the first trade/ media day to get some good pics! We set of from Sunny Scotland and got to our Castle Hotel. The drive down was in Mitsubishi’s new and exciting ASX which you can read about in next month’s issue! This year for AutoSpor t we used our new photographer Mark Campbell so a big thanks to him for all his work. Whether its F1,

T h i s year we did notice allot less representation from car manufacturers so we are wondering if this is down to our lovely financial climate we currently have! Another exciting thing to check out at the AutoSpor t International show was the Caterham Drivie Experience located in hall 4 next to the Live Action Arena. Yo u w e r e a b l e t o e x p e r i ence the Caterham’s ability around a specially designed drift course. The car’s are pushed to their limits whilst going sideways around a confined area with even the drivers giving a cheeky wave whilst power sliding, donuts and weaving their way through the indoor drif t course giving visitors value for money! This year we didn’t stay for the public days as they can be very busy so unfor tunately we didn’t get a chance to catch up with the Fifth Gear lad’s in there live action show but we did get a good warm up show on the Thursday and the Friday media/trade days. Ever ything from rally cars, mini’s F1 stock cars, EDC drif t crew and our highlights included the Reliant Robin racing and our friends with the highly
tuned Mitsubishi EvoX’s. The live action show did contain allot of oval racing which at times was rather un exciting and the commentator at times was hard to hear! But it we left with a smile on our faces and the smell of burnt rubber in the air! F1 fan’s had a great day out with some of the car s from the 2010 F1 grid on display including the World Championship-winning Red Bull RB6 which gave us some excitement last year! But some of the more serious fan’s would of been interested in Lotus Renault GP’s unveiling of its new liver y for the 2011 sea son which drew a big crowd! McLaren Racing display was fantastic and brought back some old racing memories with cars being on display from legendar y drivers Ayr ton Senna, Alain Prost, Mika Häkkinen and Lewis Hamilton! 18 TARMAG.CO.UK
McLaren did bring some special cars for their display including the one that ever yone has been waiting to see is the MP4-12C which is a 3.8 Litre V8 Super car that goes on s a l e l a t e r t h i s y e a r. The Multiple F1 World Championship-Winning B r i t i s h Te a m h a v e u s e d its 40 years wor th of experience in racing to develop what’s expected to be one of the car s for 2011! Show visitors also got to see the MP4-23 which is the car that carried Lewis Hamilton to his first Formula One Drivers Championship with just 35 races under his belt into his F1 Career! Niki Lauda’s MP4/2 was another F1 car that brought some excitement back in the day! And finally the McLaren F1 GTR which was the car that conqu e r e d t h e 24 H o u r s o f Le Mans race. This year seem some great star’s come to

The 2011 motor spor t sea son for Audi star ts earlier than it has for many years: on Februar y 6, Audi race experience Te a m Joest competes with two Audi R8 LMS in the 12-hour race at Bathurst (Australia). For Audi it is the first race “down under” since the star t of the new millennium. Reinhold Joest’s team also suppor ted the last race in Au s t r a l i a o n D e c e m b e r 31 , 2000. At that time Dindo Capello and Allan McNish won the “Race of a Thous a n d Ye a r s ” i n A d e l a i d e at the wheel of an Audi R8 in crocodile look. The spectacular prototype still holds cult status among fans today and brought Dindo Capello the nickname “Crocodile Dindo.” A u d i r a c e e x p e r i e n c e Te a m Joest now aims to conquer Australia with the Audi R8 LMS - with the GT3 spor ts car specifically developed by Audi for customer spor t use and which bears the spor ting genes of the victorious Le Mans Prototypes. Audi’s customer sport program which star ted in 2009 with the R8 LMS was newly structured to coincide punctually with the 2011 season. Fur ther development of the Audi R8 LMS, marketing and tech-
