Welcome to the 13th issue of TarMag, we have been rather busy with a few behind the scenes projects which you will find out about over the coming months so we had to delay this issue for a few weeks. But It’s getting to that time of year when the roads become slippy, icy so we advise you take care, and always give your car a quick check before you go on any journey, tyres, oil, water for the windows, etc. And always have a spare jumper onboard in case you break down. But lets get down to business, this month we were hoping to bring you the Honda Civic Type-R Mugen, but thanks to Honda, it didn’t arrive, we had made the booking and made all the arrangements for the car to be let down at the last minute, reason being, we are in Scotland! We shouldn’t be disciplined because we are in Scotland, we have some of the best driving roads in the UK compared to England, but I’m not going to rant, we hope we can do some work with Honda one day soon! Our MG TF LE500 is still with us, this month we have a look at the 85th anniversary edition of the TF and bring you the low down on what’s new! And check out the competition we are running to win some DVD’s. See you all next month... And Enjoy...

worried about a child.
The Jaguar Prize Competition aims to raise £1m for the NSPCC’s helplines. It will cost £125 per entry and there is no limit to the number of entries per person.
Sleek, sporting and sophisticated, the allnew Jaguar XJ brings a daring new spirit to automotive luxury – it offers a seductive mix of striking design, breathtaking performance and engineering without compromise. The all-new XJ’s cabin is a marvel in its own right, blending elegant, contemporary design with the comfort, luxury and unmistakable sporting style of a Jaguar.
The NSPCC is running a three year Child’s Voice Appeal to raise £50m for its helplines. The money will help grow ChildLine so it can answer every call, text and e-mail from children. It will also go toward developing the NSPCC helpline for adults
The competition runs until 25 November and the winner will be announced on 1 December. Entrants must correctly answer three questions about the new Jaguar XJ to be in for a chance to win the car. Enter at www.jaguar.co.uk/nspcc

NEW AUDI A3 AUTOMATICS PIONEER START-STOP
Automatic versions of the latest economy focused Audi A3 models are the first in the premium sector to benefit from the latest engine start-stop technology, which has already helped to cut emissions in manual transmission TDI versions to a sector-leading 109g/km. The new highly efficient 1.4 TFSI petrol and 1.6 TDI versions of the A3 equipped with the acclaimed S tronic twinclutch automatic transmission will spearhead the new technology, which also goes hand-in-hand with a recuperation system to harness braking energy. In its newly developed form for automatic applications, the start-stop system cuts engine power when the car comes to a standstill at traffic lights or in queueing traffic – the engine then remains dormant as long as the brake pedal is depressed 8

and then restarts in just two-tenths of a second only when it is released in readiness for take-off. With the system’s help, economy is boosted and CO2 is reduced by approximately 5g/km, but if required it can be deactivated at the touch of a button. The start-stop system is also supplemented in these models by recuperation technology, which provides further fuel and CO2 savings by recycling a proportion of the wasted kinetic energy generated under normal braking and normally dissipated as heat, and storing this temporarily in the vehicle battery to reduce the engine load when the car subsequently accelerates again. With its help, fuel usage is reduced by as much as three per cent in the A3.

We love spending time up at Crail Race-way, every time we attend, the sun is always shining but can be rather cold! When we got asked if we wanted to host the Ultimate Scottish Street Car Show, we gladly agreed. So we spent some time beforehand promoting the show, and on the day, we had a great turn out. A nearly fully booked out drag strip, and some amazing drift action meant it was a great day out for all, along with some amazing cars on display.
Ultimate Scottish Street Car Show
We invited Monster Energy to come along to sample some of their amazing energy drinks with everyone up at Crail. And we invited Dreadnought garage along to Crail, Brian and Paul kindly brought their 520bhp MG ZT which they kindly used to take some of our team and a few others out for a drifting session which was rather Smokey but very entertaining. Big thanks to Dean from Monster and Brian and Paul from Dreadnought for making it up! We had so many competition winners on the day we even lost count of details, so congratulations to all the winners in each of their classes from : Fastest 4wd, Rear, Show n Shine, best Jap, etc. We look forward to working with Crail on a few events for 2010... Thanks Crail.. 12 TARMAG

Specialising in work with TVR and MG Rover vehicles for over 18 years. Dreadnought garage was originally a cafe until Brian changed it into a Garage back in 1982. Still going strong, they are such a great bunch of people, we took our TF LE500 to them a few months back and the service was un-fault-able. The team at Dreadnought are true racers and track day drivers at
Dreadnought Track Evenings - Knockhill heart they even organise their own private track nights up at Knockhill, they have half a dozen or so of them each year within the summer season i.e. when it’s not dark at nights. We attended a few this year and the atmosphere is just great, everyone helps out, speak to each other and I think this wouldn’t happen if it wasn’t for the guys at Dreadnought with their great service they offer. Next month we review some of Dreadnoughts toys so keep an eye out for that one. For more details check out www.dreadnoughtgarage. co.uk and say TarMag sent ya!
