Power Of the Reds March 26, 2016 1:00 pm Lowderman Sale Facility Macomb, Illinois
Sponsored by the Illinois Red Angus Association
Welcome to the 21st Annual Power of the Reds sale! For the past 20 years the Red Angus breed has certainly changed a lot. The one thing that hasn’t changed is the dedication of the breeders who bring you their best genetics year after year. It is quite a tribute to them to have maintained a sale for 21 years. The Red Angus breed as a whole is a very user friendly breed so to speak. They provide calving ease, growth, maternal and carcass traits that many other breeds only dream about. That is the reason they are highly sought after by cattlemen all over the world. A recent Superior Livestock Auction study that spanned over four years concluded that the Red Angus sired cattle sold through their services averaged from $2 to $4 a hundred weight more than ANY other breed sired cattle. That’s a pretty powerful statement that exemplifies the commitment of Red Angus breeders around the country. We are very excited to bring you this set of Red Angus cattle! These breeders are very proactive and progressive in their respective operations and in their association. The North American Junior Red Angus Event will be held this June in Springfield, IL. and the breeders who make up the association have established a “Land of Lincoln” class in conjunction with the NAJRAE show. They are offering $1000 in premiums for this class alone! The only requirement is that the animal either originates from an Illinois breeders herd or has been purchased in an Illinois Red Angus sanctioned sale. As you look through the catalog I think that you will find cattle that will suit your needs whether you are searching for that next “show heifer” or brood cow prospect or future herd sire. I encourage you to study the catalog and the lots offered within it’s pages to find the cattle that will fit your program. If you have specific questions about any of the lots being offered, please feel free to call the breeders directly or call my cell and we will be more than happy to answer any of the questions that you may have. If you need assistance making an absentee purchase please call any of the sales staff listed or myself and rest assured that any bids will be held in the strictest of confidence as you have come from us. Kaye and I look forward to seeing you in Macomb, IL.as we offer you a tremendous set of Red Angus cattle and genetics. Sincerely,
Stuart & Kaye Gilbert
The Illinois Junior Red Angus Association will be sponsoring a Silent Auction & Bake Sale Prior to the Sale. Your continued support is greatly appreciated!!

Sire Red Brylor Walkerton 10W
Miss Dianne 426 is one of the very few Walkerton 10W daughters that you will find for sale. With less than 100 units of semen in existence, this may be a rare find. Here is a female that to me solidifies what a feminine brood cow should be .Purchased from JKC/ Three Fires, she was shown by my daughter and was multiple time class winner as a fall heifer and a senior yearling on the state/national level. She is sired by a New Trend son who’s dam is Mulberry’s dam Red Dus Fayette. She is bred to our Hamley/Mulberry son TC RED ROCKET. You got it, that’s two shots of Mulberry’s powerhouse dam. She could potentially calve by sale day so you get your return fast. She has never had a heifer for us, but both her bull calves are seeing use in commercial herds. This female has a world of life and longevity that her new owners will get to reap the rewards from.

Due to time and change in priorities we have decided to slowly liquidate our cow herd. So we brought our best female to be offered to the public. This is the first female we purchased from JKC/Three Fires and she never misses. She raised the Reserve Heifer 2012 IN State Fair Jr Show. Reserve Heifer 2014 IL Beef Expo. 2016 National Western 2nd in class Summer Yearling bull. She is the grand dam of the Reserve Kansas Heifer 2015 Kansas Beef Expo, both rings and Class winner at Ft. Worth. She’s the grand dam of a class winning bull at 2014 Kentucky Beef Expo. She is bred back to our Hamely/Mulberry son TC RED ROCKET due in June with a full sib to the IL Expo heifer and Denver bull. Buy her, hit paydirt when she calves then flush her all fall. Move her back to spring calving and never miss a beat. Heifers from Whistle and her daughter have averaged $4000. Your banker will thank you!!

This female comes from the foundation cow family at CTRH, her dam is a direct daughter of the 736T cow who has had such a productive life in our ET program, her daughters in particular single handedly put our program on the map. The dam of this Dam CTRH Tobie’s Taffy 108X JDD CTRH Cherri Taffy 13B female, 108X, was actually purchased from us as a bred heifer with her bull calf as a calf and is part of a group of 736T daughters doing an incredible job for the Damman family in Melbourne, IA. I was out in their pasture looking at calves when I spotted this heifer calf and purchased her. I really wanted to develop this female out to show what a great job the CTRH bred cows are doing in production. This female has always been a standout in terms of combining power and performance with good looks. As an added bonus she is super quiet and show broke. Pasture exposed to CTRH Bermuda (Nbar Hamley X Meado West Persuasion daughter), due approximately 05/15/16

In addition to Hamley as an added bonus the maternal grandsire of this bull is Roy Rodgers who was named champion at Denver, Louisville and Fort Worth. The dam is a very thick bodied cow with BUF CRK HOBO and Mission Statement in her pedigree an is a gentle “doesn’t do anything wrong” kind of a cow.

ANS Rayna is another one to hail from the RBJR Advance line. Her dark red coat and showy qualities allow her to outshine the crowd. She is clean fronted and sure footed as she walks straight into her show stance. She may be a little green now, but with time she will show you how her big hip (and even better attitude) will make her a winner and a great brood cow.

She certainly fits the mold of the Contours being moderate framed, wide based, sleek fronted with a picture perfect udder. She is also maternal sister to a $16,000 Jericho bull that sold last spring in South Dakota. Examine the pedigree and you will find Norseman King, Major League, and King Rob.

This stout dude is one that you are going to want to pay attention to on sale day if you want to add pounds and red meat to your calves without adding extra frame. It still amazes me just how much meat and muscle this guy manages to pack on his frame...he really is a what you see is what you get kind of bull...not a lot of extra fat or hair...just shear power. If your end game is to produce heavy weaning feeders or take steers to the packing plant that yield tremendously well and finish out at an ideal market weight, this is a bull that you will want to take a good look at. It also wouldn’t hurt to mention that he is out of first calf heifer and still weighed well over 900 lbs at weaning. At 2 years old this guy has not been over fed and is still plenty athletic...he is ready to go to work

The sire of this bull, Red Soo Line Power Eye, was heavily used by Wildcat Creek Ranch and is known for producing stout, high performing cattle with an abundance of quailty and power. Deer Hill Power Eye is no exception as indicated by his deep side, big rump and heavy muscling. He has good bone and moves very well on a correct set of legs. This is a great opportunity to put some solid Canadian genetics into your program. He is halter broke as well!

ANS Sakic has been showing the Midwest his best! This past summer he was a Reserve Division Champion at the NAJRAE and the Iowa State Fair Junior Show. He boasts a low birth weight and is perfect for your first time calving heifers. He is long bodied, muscular, and stout with a clean front end and a laid back attitude to top it off! He won in the ring for us, now he’ll win in the pasture for you.

This embryo package comes straight out of the Blair Ag breeding program. The 205T was the quintessential Red Angus female and was one of those females that worked regardless of who she was flushed to. This is a tried and proven mating with impressive progeny already on the ground. 205T is now deceased and the future availability of her progeny will be highly sought after. Here’s a chance to play on the same playing field as Blair Ag!
