Author Simon Sinek states in his book, Start with Why . . ., “People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it.”. Being in the beef cattle industry for approximately thirty years we have seen trends come and go. We realized change is a constant. We have survived droughts and low cattle prices. We learned that failures award the greatest lessons. Patience is not just a virtue – it’s a necessity. We found that minds willing to grasp and implement new knowledge would have a shorter trip through a learning curve. We became aware of the big picture and that acknowledging the work and accomplishments of fellow breeders instills fortitude and trust; for when we all succeed we become stronger as a breed. We recognized the value of focus to stay on the road we chose to pave as distractions can lead to derailment. And we discovered courage. We found how far one had to dig for courage to take risks; or to quote Derek, “Sometimes you just have to leap off the cliff – even if you scream all the way!” And through it all, the glue that has bonded us to this business is passion. Great passion is “WHY” we do it. It is not tangible or concrete. Nor is it complex or requires scrutiny. It is just pure, simple passion. It is the intensity that drives us toward our goals. It is why we are compelled to present our cattle at their very best and breed innovative genetics. It is why we place such value on friendships and partnerships. So as Pave the Way Fall Vol.II unfolds, we can hardly wait to not only present our genetics; but also, to present the offering so meticulously chosen by John Ferguson, Ty Warren and Webb Fields, Dick and Kyle Coleman, Shane Tallent, and Case Gabel. Our appreciation for each of these outstanding breeders is truly beyond words. We would be remiss if we did not acknowledge our sale management team who is second to none! They, too, share our passion for beef cattle. Their talent for marketing and insight to the industry has been an integral component for our success. While our door is always open and we welcome visitors daily, we would be honored to see each of you on Sunday, November 12th, at our farm in New Castle, Ky. Food will be plentiful, the cattle will be relaxing in their lots, and all involved with Pave the Way will be waiting to greet you. Yours,
NAILE

TERMS AND CONDITIONS: All cattle sell under the Suggested Sale Terms & Conditions of the American Simmental Association with the following exception on females that have been in exhibition. Many times, heifers that are shown can often be fed to an extreme level of obesity and are often not allowed to be bred in ideal situations resulting in an open female at the end of her show career. This situation is out of the hands of the breeder therefore, we will hold the owner/feeder responsible for any reproduction issues and no longer guarantee the heifer as a breeder. If this situation does result, the breeders of the Pave the Way Sale will still make an attempt to assist the owner in getting this female bred through the following two breeding seasons. 1/2 INTEREST LOTS: Possession of the animal is negotiable unless otherwise noted. Arrangements for embryo transplant work on the animal will be agreed upon between buyer and seller. Embryos produced by the donor will be divided equally between the two partners. All costs associated with embryo work will be split 50/50. SALE DAY ANNOUNCEMENTS: A supplement sheet will be available sale day with updated information, corrections, and additional information. This sheet and any announcements made sale day and from the auction block during the sale will take precedence over printed material associated with this sale. Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of visitors, neither the sales management, auctioneer, or owners assumes any responsibility in the matter and disclaims any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or lost property.

“The things you do for yourself are gone when you are gone, the things you do for others remain as your legacy.” This quote has true meaning in people and cattle alike. The things that Hope Floats has done and continues to do for our program and programs across the country provide proof in the value of consistency. Consistency that holds true as we bring to you the first half bloods ever marketed out this breed matriarch. Lot 1 and 1A hold a special sort of presence that you only see at a young age in those that you know have that something different about them. Structural integrity, length, style, and balance are all the norm when describing any member of this cow family; but these two are over achievers in many categories. E266 has an abundance of style and length. The way that she comes out of the apex of her shoulder is exceptional while maintaining the reach and angle she needs to remain extra flexible. E301 has the power of the pair. Stout made thru her hip and down in to her stifle with the same skeleton as her sister to keep her in the business for the long haul. The value that either of these females carry in to their productive life projects to be high with a countless array of breeding options. Take advantage here, it might not come around in this form again! Lots 1 & 1A are entered in the NAILE Open Show.

E318 is a full sib to our high seller here at the Pave The Way last fall going to our good friends Dick and Kyle Coleman for $32,000. E318 certainly carries true with how we had envisioned this mating with Upper Hand to work. She is wide pinned, expansive thru the upper part of her rib cage and is as tight jawed as any purebred we have ever raised. The future in this female is extremely exciting and is one that you want to be reaping the benefits from, not competing against.

T H E H O P E ’ S D E S I R E FA M I LY As we continue down the Hope Floats super highway we get to examine her ability to transmit the qualities that make her great in to not only her daughters but her granddaughters. E300 hails from a donor dam that is certainly paving her own road. Hopes Desire A572 gave us a glimpse this past spring in the Pave The Way spring edition with two high selling individuals, $10,000 & $15,000, that have gone on to be successful throughout the summer. E300 is the most powerful heifer that Desire has produced to date. She is so impressive in her center body and mass, while maintaining a good under carriage. There are endless breeding options with this female, which holds a high priority here at the farm. If your priorities happen to align with producing high quality, versatile breeding stock with phenotype to keep you competitive in the ring then you should probably put a mark by this one. We just can’t get enough of the females that Ester 020 continues to produce. E255 is her natural calf and a member of the first calf crop out of the young herd sire The Outback Ranch in TX purchased from us, TNGL OBR Fortune 500C. We should probably hire a new camera guy because the picture of this female does not do her justice. The center body, smoothness of her overall design, and impeccable skeleton is what continue to keep this female on the top of our list. It has always been our goal to show breeding cattle and not breed show cattle, E255 fits the bill of one that we have all the confidence in being the type to compete in every aspect of the industry. Lot 3 is entered in the NAILE Open Show. Selling 1/2 Interest with the option to double
A chance to put your prefix on 020 progeny presents itself here with possibly the most exciting matings that we have produced with her. We don’t have either of these on the ground yet but we are extremely anxious to get them here. You have the choice to the already proven valuable C&C Mckinnley or our up and coming super star TNGL Imprint. You see the quality that she produces in making half bloods or create your own Angus donor, the option is yours.

The options are limitless, a female that has as impeccable of a skeleton as you can make and the cow power strung through her pedigree that assures success. There’s not much more I can say other than the proof is in front of you. E253 is a full sib to the Outback Ranch donor, C906, and herd sire Fortune 500C. Proving genetics through production is the best way to see what is going to work. I think we see here that these genetics and this mating flat works. E253 follows in her siblings footsteps with overall design and body type that is desirable for making versatile seedstock. She is long spined and extra smooth in her muscle shape. Just a true cow in the making. Exceptional at the ground as we have come to expect of the Grand Fortune progeny. We have let all of her siblings go, this one we just can’t part with all the way. Every visitor to the farm has been in agreement that E282 is one of the best purebred Simmental females that there is this year, and I wouldn’t argue with that. In putting a herd together over the past several years, we quickly turned to the Tingle family for their exceptional cattle and great customer service. Not only have we used their genetics heavily, but they have become great friends and mentors in our decision making. With that said, we knew when given the opportunity we had to showcase some of our best. Rosemary is without a doubt a great representation of just that. This February born female is flawless in her structure, great in her body shape and dimension, and what is truly impressive is her ability to tie everything together in such a smooth package. Sired by Grand Fortune and out of a big time Angus donor we purchased out of the Power Plus program, her genetic potential is endless. Not only do we feel she is the kind that gets along in every show ring for her complete build, but what really makes her unique is her potential as a revenue generator in the cow phase. E03 is without a doubt the kind to add value to any herd, and we are proud and excited to offer her on this platform.

THE OPEN SHOW HEIFER PROSPECTS
The Gable family has brought us another really strong set of heifers this year. It is one thing to be able to raise a good bull like Upper Hand, it is another that he has the opportunity to run on such a consistent, sound, functional herd of cows as the Gable’s have. The Upper Hand daughters topped the Pave the Way sale last fall, and I would venture to say that this group exceeds the last. The same basic strengths throughout this group of heifers, good skeleton, big centered females that work no matter the direction you want to go. Slight differences in phenotype set them apart.
LOT 17
LOT 18 E027 is one that’s hard to poke a hole in. Super complete, ultra feminine and angular with the right kind of shape to make an absolute beautiful cow. E316 is the bigger outlined heifer of the group that has extra cow power. Extremely loose skeleton and joint work with a functionality about her that plenty of Simmental bulls could use.

THE OPEN SHOW HEIFER PROSPECTS Our angus division this year is small in numbers but mighty in quality. This Insight daughter is one stout beast. Hailing from the Chloe cow family which would be the basis of nearly our entire angus cow herd. We lost her Dam this year so we probably shouldn’t be selling this one but we are committed to offering our best. E252 is very true from hock to ground and sure footed. Her center mass and upper rib shape is a standout in the offering while laying that big center in a flat shoulder and neck. What a special attraction here. TNGL MKF Shakedown E264 is the result of a $18,000 heifer that Mellenkamp Family purchased out of the KY Beef Expo in 2016. What a sound investment that was! Shakedown does what every great stud bull should do, stack as many proven cows in the pedigree as you can. Without ever analyzing the individual when you analyze his pedigree it is nothing short of exciting. Hope Floats, Joy L123, Awe Struck, Miss A, Chyna Marie, 8543, Glimmer X368, Sparkle T720; depending on how far you want to go back that list continues to grow with some of the highest revenue cows in the business. As much as I think that is all you need to know, then you get to analyze the individual. A man amongst boys is what he has always been. Explosive shape down his top and hip carrying it all the way through his stifle. Super soft centered and powerful in his chest floor, yet elegant and proud about his head and neck. We can’t say enough good things about what this bull’s heritage has done for us, so we wrapped it all in one package for everyone else to use. Enjoy!! Lot 32 is entered in the NAILE Open Show.
We typically are pretty selfish about keeping these young genetics in the frozen form for ourselves, but nothing but the best offered up in this sale. The proof is on the hoof, no need to say more.

We are now proving just how valuable the Grand Fortune daughters are when they get in production and with this second calf crop by Track On being another solid notch in his belt, we can’t help but get excited about what these two bull calves are capable of. E283 is an impressive individual from a mass and power standpoint at such a young age. He is exceptionally spacious through his center third and powerfully constructed about his hip making him probably the power bull of the pair. E293 is the smooth brother that the other guys get jealous of because of his smooth pattern and over all look. Stout enough to have plenty of shape yet sleek necked enough to profile with the best of them. Many admired the Track On son, TNGL Imprint, through last years show season. These two guys have the ability to follow down the same path. Lot 33 is entered in the NAILE Open Show.

THE BULL OFFERING
LOT 34
A full sib to Lot 10, this guy is not your typical purebred. E304, much like his sister, is really soft sided with a long smooth muscle pattern. He follows in his sire’s footsteps with a big flexible foot for his age that will do nothing but continue to impress as he develops. E304 is the first bull calf to be offered from Obsession so it will be beneficial to be on the front end of a cow which will get a lot of opportunity to prove her worth in the near future. Lot 34 is entered in the NAILE Open Show.

TNGL High Tide E276 is a calf that we have admired since day one. Fundamentally he is one of the most correct bulls we have offered for sale. As a true SimAngus he carries a superb amount of substance in his skeleton. He is so good out of his hip and hind leg while staying good topped and stout hearted to carry that much center. E276 is flat necked and loose hided, while he carries a shade of leather I can assure you, as every Hope calf has ever done, that will be gone when this bull grows in to that skeleton! No matter your operation direction, the opportunity to tie into a bull of this caliber that has sisters of their caliber, with a sire and dam of immeasurable caliber; should never be passed up. Lot 35 is entered in the NAILE Open Show.

Our Angus bull division is a division of one, but I’m not sure that we need another one as high quality as this one is! E295 is a functional beef bull with that extra look and style that set him apart. He goes back to our lead angus donor Ester 020 and is the exact reason we typically don’t sell her daughters. Plenty of power and center body, good structured, and an extra neat front third that both sides of his pedigree are known for. His dam, B754, has worked her way to the donor pen in just 2 calves. We have all the confidence that E295 will send your females that same direction.

THE GENETIC OFFERING
A unique opportunity presents itself here! We wanted to do something in the form of a genetic offering that would leave some options and create opportunity that we typically don’t with our young up and comers. So instead of picking one ourselves we are going to let you pick! Listed are four of our youngest donors of which some have had the opportunity to show you what they can do and some that we are confident won’t take but one calf crop to impress. You pick one cow for the money or as many as you like times the money. If you are starting out and want fresh genetics with your prefix on them, there won’t be a better opportunity this fall!

There is not a day that passes that we are wondering exactly why it is we are selling this female, but it is our commitment to you that our best are offered every year. Doll is quite possibly one of my favorite Miss A daughters to date and that’s a pretty significant list. The proof of this cow family is on the hoof as maternal sibs to D931 produce sale toppers all across the country. Doll has already been at the back drop as a calf as she won the calf division in Louisville last fall. A full sister to her was 3rd over all at an Eastern Regional two years ago along with 3rd over all at the sweepstakes. Her mother was a division winner in Louisville and Denver, another maternal sister was a division winner in Louisville, and another reserve division in Denver. Multiple state fair winners have come out of this family and I don’t see that trend stopping. So we challenge you to find a bred female with this much promise that is offered at auction, I assure you they are hard to find. Be certain that you are sitting in the seats on November 12 in New Castle, KY because there are only two times in life, Now and Too Late; Don’t be the latter. A really cool Purebred Angus sire by the power bull Connealy Dateline. This long spined, long hipped, soft pasterned cow did so well on the premium Bandwagon heifer here. Primo is going to hit it out of the park. Primo calves are very cool. Premium Package! She also has a daughter that sells as Lot 48.
