About Us
Welcome to our 6th annual production sale. It seems like every year we say the quality of the cattle are better than the last year and that is true for this year as well. The bulls we are offering this year are a very diverse group. They range from bulls that are calving ease heifer bulls to very powerful, put pounds on the ground bulls. Many of our customers have small cow herds, so we need a wide range of bull to choose from so they can find the correct bull for their needs. The main difference in the bulls this year is that we have improved the calving ease on most while still maintaining high growth and carcus. The female offering in this sale is second to none! They will provide you with style, structural correctness, capacity, EPD profiles, and carcass traits that are way above average. You can choose from spring yearling heifers, spring bred cows. Our breeding principles are simple: to provide total performance genetics & breed leading EPDs. We will not sacrifice good feet, legs and overall structural soundness for a good EPD profile. Our cows need both or they go to the stockyards! Our animals need to work in all environments. They have plenty of guts and capacity, lots of milk, and last but not least, great dispositions. Our bulls are grown out, not fed out. They are fed for 3# ADG. The bulls are not rolling in fat, they are in good breeding condition. Our main focus is providing bulls for the commercial cattle industry and replacement females for the seed stock producer. How the auction works: All cattle will be penned for your viewing. After viewing cattle in the morning, lunch will be served at noon with beef brisket sandwiches and all the trimmings. No cattle will run through the sale ring. During the auction, there will be a video of the animal that is selling playing on large screen TVs. Online bidding will be available for the first time this year through DVAuction. Most cattle auctions have become a wine and dine affair, sitting down with good food and good people in comfort buying cattle. In our case, it’s a barn and dine, so please dress accordingly, as you never know what type weather we may have in March in central PA. Cattle will be available for viewing all day Friday, March 13. We will have supper around 5pm. Hotels are about 8 miles from the farm, so please stop in on Friday. You can meet Kyle and the rest of the crew. This also gives us more time to answer all your questions as sale day can be very hectic. Kyle Gilchrist from Douds, IA will be the auctioneer again this year. TERMS & CONDITIONS 1. Terms of the sale are check or cash settlement. Every animal will be sold to the highest bidder. All settlements will be made with the clerks of the sale immediately following the conclusion of the sale and before any cattle will be released from the sale facility. 2. The auctioneer will settle any disputes as to bids, and his decision on such matters shall be final. 3. Any announcements from the seller on sale day will take precedence over printed material. 4. Health certificates will be furnished for shipment anywhere in the U.S. 5. A certificate of registry and transfer will be furnished for each animal sold, after settlement has been made. 6. Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as it is sold. 7. All bulls have been evaluated and are guaranteed to be breeders. 8. All animals are guaranteed breeders by sellers. Any animal that has not proven itself as a breeder within six months after the date of sale, if in healthy condition, may be returned to seller at buyer’s expense. The seller reserves the privilege of trying, for a period of six months, to prove the animal is a breeder. The seller, at his option, may either replace the animal with another of equal value or grant the buyer a credit for use on any cattle marketed seller in full settlement and transaction of all claims. Yearling bulls shall be guaranteed breeders for no more than 25 females. All animals are guaranteed to be breeders, with the exception of calves that are sold in cow/calf pairs. 9.
