There is no doubt that the beef cattle industry and business has been the place to be for over the past year. The marketplace has certainly surged and maintained a pace and price point to rewrite the history of the American cattle market. Even with the election in the midst, the outlook is very captivating and intriguing from all angles. The need for the absolute best protein source, safe for human consumption is certainly in demand not only domestically, but abroad as well. Innovation in technology and genetics continue to keep the United States’ beef producers on the forefront of success and with the dominant infrastructure in place, we feel very strongly about the future of the business.

Bayou Creek Ranch continues to forge their place within the business by producing Red Angus cattle with rancher approved performance, substance, and shape. This set of bulls will be the very best offered by Ken and Becky Swan to date. With the experienced guidance and management of Kent Shankles, this set of bulls have been grown and developed to thrive like no set marketed by the program before. Mr. Shankles comes from a very well-educated background in regard to ranch management with an intense knowledge of pasture and forage care and production that is readily noticed in this set of cattle.

Past and potential customers will notice improved performance measurements with improved quality in phenotype. As in the past the bulls have been stringently sorted on disposition, hoof quality, skeletal integrity, and above all, fertility. The cow herd that backs these herd sire prospects was also sorted and selected with the leadership of Kent Shankles, so one should be certain that they are bred to take your program to the next level and maintain the forward progress that every good cattleman or cattle woman desires.

In any business, annual growth and improvement is desired and as a marketing firm, we believe that your beef business is no different. We are more than confident in the gene pool that built this set of bulls and know that the management and development of the cattle to be nothing short of right. The Bayou Creek program has dispersed hundreds of bulls into the commercial sector and has maintained a long term, repeat customer base with some of the industry’s finest commercial programs. The bulls with the Bayou Creek brand have graced pastures from the gulf coast region to the western range of Colorado, the Sand Hill region of Nebraska, and all points in between with much customer approval and success. A Guide to EPD’s

HerdBuilder is a maternally focused selection index that predicts the probability of developing profitable cowherd traits while maximizing the value of marketed progeny. Expressed as dollars per cow exposure, HB is calculated based on the scenario that bulls are mated to heifers and cows, replacement heifers are retained, and all remaining progeny are marketed on a quality-based carcass grid. (Index/High Value)

Just watch the auction online and call in at least 2 lots ahead of the lot you are looking to bid on. A Superior Livestock representative will be with you on the phone and will assist you in placing bids.

Bull Development Bull Guarantee

The bulls were developed at the ranch in Lone Grove, Oklahoma on rye winter pastures and supplemented with a bull ration that was formulated by Martindale Feed Mill. They have been maintained on a soy based pellet at a rate not to exceed 1.5% of their body weight to prevent structure and foot issues. By maintaining a slower and more precise development, these bulls are true athletes that are ready for heavy service. These bulls have never set foot in a feedlot. We confidently say that these bulls will endure more seasons in the breeding pasture.

The bulls have been handled both on foot and horseback. Bulls have been strictly culled based on performance, structural integrity, fleshing ease, fertility, and disposition. The bulls have had DNA submitted and will sell with genetically enhanced EPDs to facilitate you in making a more educated decision during the buying process. The bulls that carry the Bayou Creek Ranch brand will add terminal value to your calf crop and in turn contribute to your bottom line!

Unless otherwise noted, all the breeding age bulls will have passed a breeding soundness exam prior to pick up/delivery. In addition to the standard terms and conditions of the Red Angus Association of America, we will provide the first breeding season (the 90-day period immediately following turn out) guarantee on all yearling and older bulls. This guarantee is not an insurance or mortality policy, but a guarantee on functional fertility. It is not a substitute or replacement for poor management. Buyer assumes all risks for injury due to running bulls together or management decisions outside genetic control. For the guarantee to apply, we ask that you contact us as soon as a condition is observed and before the animal is sold. We will work with you to determine whether the animal is returned or sold for slaughter. We will attempt to provide a suitable replacement. If one cannot be provided of equal or greater value, we will issue a sale credit to be used in a future sale for the full purchase price less the salvage value of the animal.

Please contact Kent Shankles: (580) 276-7715 for further questions about how Bayou Creek Ranch can add value to your operation.

RED MAN 3434

• We selected a pair of herd sires a few years ago from the famed Duff Cattle Company breeding program of Hobart, Oklahoma. 3441 is sired by Duff Red Man 18108 2036, a son of Duff Red man 18101 that was an absolute stud in terms of shape, dimension, and natural fleshing ability.

• 3441 is backed by one of the most phenotypically impressive females on the ranch, PIE Yocia 7417, a daughter of PIE Just Right 540. 7417 now works in the Rough Diamond Ranch program of Nebraska.

• Maternal brothers to 3441 are working for Joe Stiles and Don McCauley, two long-time customers and friends of the program!

• Here is another son of Duff Red Man 18108 2036 that is more of a calving ease prospect. He offers a moderate 72 lb. birth weight to accompany his CE and BW EPDs.

• The dam of 3434 is one of the best females that we acquired from the historic Cloud 9 Cattle Company Dispersal Sale in Wisconsin.

• A maternal sister to 3434 was selected by Kevin Van Beek of South Dakota.

BYU CARLOAD 3316

• 3316 is sired by the other bull that we selected from the Duff Cattle Company breeding program. Duff Carload 275D 20205 is sired by Red Six Mile Car Load 275D, a full brother to the $60,000 Red Blair’s Bingo 581B.

• A big ribbed, soggy made bull that is loaded with quality!

• The dam of 3316 is a tremendous daughter of PIE The Cowboy Kind 343. She has produced two sons that are both working for long-time customer and friend, Joe Stiles.
