Hugh and I would like to welcome you to our second annual female sale. We are very excited with the animals we have on offer, we feel they are an exceptional group of females. They are effortlessly going to blend into your herd, then turn around and really produce for you. There is a little bit of everything on offer; from the next top elite female to the working female that produces your best bull calf every year, to a few great junior projects already started. One thing that will really stand out about the cattle when you first see them will be the uniformity and the amazing sire groups. The Sires have done their jobs and done them well. We are coming into unknown territory in the beef industry as it is hitting record lows for feed costs, the fall of the cattle market as we speak, and political unrest; but don’t let this scare you. The Beef Industry is a great place to be and full of opportunities. We always come into fall feeling blessed because our feed is in our yard, bales are stacked, calves are weaned and knowing that we have enough to make it through another winter. It is a beautiful snowy morning here as Hugh and I are writing this today. We are coming into a very early winter here in the mighty Peace Country. We are moving around feeding calves this morning as the snow keeps falling and blowing, totaling about a foot now since it has first started snowing 2 weeks ago. We were just chatting how content the cattle are, how great they look, and how much they are going to love their new homes! We would like to thank everyone for their past support, we truly appreciate it and we always feel very honoured to be a part of this great industry. A special thanks to our dear friends, Bryan and Sherry Mackenzie. They trudge beside us all year long through the highs and the lows to help us out in unbelievable ways. Thank You for your support.

Never wanting to do anything different than be involved in our industry. Never had 9-5 job nor did I ever desire any Ph: 403-627-5676 such thing! I’ve also been managing sales since 1998 starting with a Dispersal sale in Breton, AB. That seemed like a lifetime ago . . . My point to all this is in all my years in the cow business, whether it be as a producer or as a marketer, Bryan’s Cell: I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a situation such as this right now. Now rest assured about one thing I’m not being negative at 403-627-8266 all! In fact, just the opposite. We’ve all seen highs and lows in the market place so the fall of 2016 is nothing new. The one thing I do know however, is this . . . with uncertainty comes amazing opportunity! We are on the backside or downhill slide of the greatest cattle run for 2 whole years in our country and maybe even the whole world has ever witnessed. If we have to take a 40% hit on our calves wouldn’t you rather it be on $1900 ones rather than them starting out at $1000 (or less)? So that being said, we all know this thing will bounce back or stabilize real soon. . . it has to!! During the mid 2000’s to about 2012 the buzz word was to have your inventory topped up because good times were just ahead. It happened and those that were ready benefitted in a big way . . . all the way to the bank.

So . . . on November 16th in Olds at the Cow Palace is going to be one of those moments that in 2 - 3 years time we will all think back and say “Dam . . . I shoulda pulled the trigger and re-racked” The set of bred heifers here today are a very good set. The heifer calves are an awfully strong group. And the good thing for you as a potential buyer is that both groups are here in their entirety . . . Nothing held back in either group . . . Red or Black. Circumstances dictate that this is the road that Bar 4A must take for now so our situation is for your gain. You may be asking yourself right now 2 questions: 1. Who does this thing of selling all their breds and heifer calves? and 2. Why are they doing this? Answer is this to you . . . it doesn’t matter why or who but only to seize the moment and take advantage cause if you don’t someone else will, that’s for sure!!
