Inaugural UTI/MMM Open Heifer Calf Jackpot

on Friday night, October 3, 2014 at 8 p.m.…two shows/one event!

Attention all parents of junior showmen! Don’t own a heifer?…NO PROBLEM! Bring your junior showmen to Emporia on the night of October 3, 2014 because we have a special class for you!! Just before the Open Heifer Calf Futurity, we will have an auction just for you. You can purchase the right for your child (under 18) to show one of these beautiful heifer calves and have a chance at some great prizes and cash. Pretty cool opportunity for the next generation of showmen to have a shot a winning…with someone else’s calf!! Here’s how it will work: The winning bidder of the first round in the auction can choose any of the eligible heifer calves for their child to show in the special junior class. Round 2 the bidding will be opened up again and they get to pick any of the remaining calves. We will sell as many calves as we have interested junior kids. All the monies gathered up will go into one pot that will be split 50/50 between the owner of the winning calf and the winning showman. In addition to this cash prize, the winning calf’s showman will also receive a $1,000 sale credit for the next day! The runner-up in the class will get a $500 sale credit.

Futurity Show Rules… Eligible to all heifer calves sired by a Brylor Semen Sales Bull (past or present sires eligible). Classes will be split evenly according to age upon arrival. Entries will be accepted right up to Oct. 1, 2014. All heifer calves in the show also sell in the sale on Saturday, October 4. There will be a calcutta on the Champion class just prior to announcing the Grand and Reserve Grand heifers. Futurity has cash and prizes to four placings! Judge: Miss Cheramie Viator Show will be held after 6 p.m. dinner and after the junior class. Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion heifer calves will lead off the sale on Saturday.

Welcome to the More Mulberry Mayhem and Under The Influence Auction!

After 30 years in the auction business, there are no surprises when it comes to organizing an auction. Well, maybe a few. When Bryan Mackenzie told me that the 2014 Mullberry Mayhem / Under the Influence Auction would have a $15,000.00 Futurity Show, I thought 90% of the sale would be open heifers. In retrospect, this catalog is loaded with bred females and cow calf pairs. The resulting calves from these bred females are all eligible for the 2015 MMM / UTI Sale and Futurity and offer sire power that will create superstars in the future of the Red Angus breed.

Because of the added Futurity & Calcutta Shows, the 2014 Mulberry Mayhem and Under the Influence will be much more than just an auction, it will be an event! To qualify, all animals must be sired by, or bred to, Red Fine Line Mulberry 26P, WR MR Forbidden 2514 ET or any of the Brylor Semen Sales Sires current or past. The shows will be aired on DVAuction, on Friday night, “Under the Lights” at the Eby Ranch so be sure and tune in and watch the action. With the cattle business booming and Red Angus genetics at the forefront of the beef industry, we have seen record Red Angus prices already in the fall 2014 auction season. As cattlemen and women rebuild the U.S. cow herd, Red hided cattle are in big demand in southern hotter climates of the country. She was only a or so week old, but when I first saw her, my mind started spinning…on how to market this sweetheart FULL SISTER to the honored bull of the day – Mulberry 26P! Halle Berry 3353 is a female destined for stardom and with 9 partners of Reid & Stacy’s guiding her future production, NOTHING will slow this knockout beauty queen down…NOTHING! Her dam, Fayette 8G is still the reigning highest priced female in Canada at the historic Fine Line Dispersal in 2007 at $64,000. Ms Ruby Red is a dark red, long spined first calf heifer with a nice balanced udder and a great disposition. She was the Reserve Champion Red Angus Female at the 2013 South Dakota State Fair. The bull has generated $69,500 Daughter of GT Cita 4060 in syndicated shares and pasture rights to date, selling in the 2013 Mulberry Mayhem, 2014 NWSS Mile High Classic in Denver and the 2014 National Spotlight Auction at the Fort Worth Stock Show. His first calves will be showcased in this auction as Lot 29 and 30. What a gorgeous set of ET Mulberry daughters we have for a great choice lot. They are both strong, well-balanced, moderate-framed and deep bodied, blood red in color yet oh so sweet up in their front 1/3. It’s amazing. Their dam was the high selling cow at the Riverdale Dispersal in 2008 at $9,800 to Blairs.Ag. She is an elite cow in the Canadian Angus Association. Kevin offered these embyros at a sale in North Dakota a few years back and I jumped on them. We own a natural daughter by 340L who is also a really good cow! Last year, we purchased the first of the Red Wildman Curve 207Z semen at the MMM/UTI, and the next day we saw several MC Lazy Detour calves and knew right away we hadn’t purchased enough Curve semen. Miss Rambo was part of a package of June heifers we were only able to buy from Gill’s due to weather conditions. We bred ten of them to Curve, gate cut four and brought the two the vet confirmed safe to the AI date. Good performance pedigree and her first calf confirmed it. She cycled and bred back first A.I. service, just like you want them to do!

It’s not that the recip cow here (Rte 9 BL Dawn #1435979) is anything really special. She is a nice young registered Red Angus cow, but what is inside her may be that something really, really special. Selling 50 straws of Arson in 10 straw increments or X the money up to the 50 units. Brylor’s 2nd high selling bull in the 2012 Bull Sale.
