at the North American International Livestock Exposition

Sunday, November 15 2:00 pm

Kentucky Fair & Exposition Center

Welcome to the first annual “Ladies of Louisville sale.

We are very pleased to be able to offer you a stunning selection of Red Angus genetics. With the National Show coming to Louisville and the N.A.I.L.E. in 2016, what better time to establish an elite Red Angus event in one of the most prestigious livestock shows in the world. With Red Angus females garnering a premium in all classes, whether purebred or commercial, now is the time to attain superior genetics that will bring your breeding program to the forefront. A study conducted over a 4 year period by Superior Auctions has proven commercial Red Angus females are worth $4.00 a hundred weight more than any other breed being marketed. In our travels around the North American continent, we continually see the demand for registered Red Angus females grow at unprecedented levels. The color of the nations cow herd is changing to the adaptable Red Angus based female! We are very excited to offer the following lots of Red Angus genetics to you and encourage you to study the lots included within the pages of this catalog to find the genetics that will work for you in your breeding program. They are offered by some of the top breeders in the business and we feel confident you will be very satisfied with the genetics being offered. If you have specific questions about any of the lots included here, please feel free to call the consignors directly or myself. We will be more than happy to help you in anyway we possibly can. As with all of the sales that we manage, we will have a trailer in tow with us and be glad to assist you in getting any of your live animal purchases to you as we head home from the event. If you are unable to attend the sale in person, please feel free to call my cell at 641-919-0196 if you would like to leave an absentee bid. And as you have come to expect from us, all bids will be held in the strictest of confidences. The sale will also be broadcast live on DVAuction for our buyers convenience. We hope to see you at this event and enjoy the show and sale.

It’s hard to decide where to begin with these 2 females, so I guess I will start with the fact that their dam is a daughter of Meado West Persuasion and the only full sister to the SLGN X Files bull, and their sire is none other than the new syndicated bull who topped Pieper ’s bull sale last year. The Cowboy Kind bull is already making a splash in the breed, and our Xtra Sweet calves out of him have been extra good. We had 2 bulls and 3 heifers from this mating and we are thrilled with all of them, the full sister to these 2 females sold earlier this summer off the farm to a Texas buyer and is already winning shows for her new owner. These 2 females are definitely these most exciting cow prospects that we’ve probably ever raised which is why we are only....

selling one. These 2 females will show anywhere you want them to, but they will be most valuable after their show career as a donor or brood cow. These two were the 2 highest performing heifer calves this year, and they beat out all the bull calves except for two. In terms of differences between the two, 519C is a beast…it is hard to put any more muscle and rib in one and still keep them that sound and correct all while maintaining a feminine look. 518C is a bit more elegant in her front 1/3, explosive in her rib shape, darker red in color, and has that great hair coat that everyone wants in a show heifer. These females have been shown multiple times and have dispositions suited for a young exhibitor. Both of these heifers “look like mini brood cows just waiting to happen” and you can’t go wrong with either choice.

For the first Ladies of Louisville sale I have decided to offer the very first heifer calf from one of my favorite females on farm. Jessa’s dam, Tessa 23A, is a direct daughter of one of our foundation females, Tobie 736T, who has been a revenue making machine at CTRH. We have only retained one female out of Tobie, and that is Tessa. Jessa herself reminds me a lot of her dam when she was a calf, ultra stylish, long bodied and long hipped, big footed and big boned, her best days are definitely still ahead of her as she is still young and green. Down the road you should have fun mating this female due to the fact that her unique pedigree means she is an outcross to most of the popular AI sires out there today. Videos will be available before the sale on my facebook page @ Samantha Jo Frederick, and on my youtube channel @ Cowtraks Ranch.

Don’t be surprised to find this calf in the winners circle when he hits the green shavings in Louisville, he has already had success in the showring! His sire, Power Eye, has been a “go to” bull for adding dimmension, power and muscle shape to his progeny. His dam is quickly making her way to the top of the impressive DAMAR donor pen. When I called Ennis and asked for something pretty special for this event, he told me he would see what he could do. I would say that he certainly stepped up to the plate and knocked it out of the park. A choice lot of two of the foundation female bloodlines from the DAMAR herd! The Nexus X Dexan heifer calf is one of DAMAR’s “next generation” females that will be the future of their herd. The Mulberry X Blockanna heifer is from the very building blocks that put DAMAR at the forfront of the Red angus breed. I’m not sure if I can pry both of these great females out of the DAMAR herd or not. But rest assured that I will be doing alot of arm twisting prior to the sale. Come prepared!

Potential donor female! I could literally write pages on the genetics being offered here in this exceptional bred female. Her dam is the elite donor cow “Tarmily”, a cow that I often describe as “the cow that does nothing wrong”. Tarmily just doesn’t miss reguardless of the sire being used. The mating of Mulberry X Tarmily is quite frankly money in the bank and has produced many outstanding progeny including the phenominal Mimi cow who is taking the reigns from her mother as an elite donor female. If you are in search of an elite donor female, the hunt may be over. There is a rumor going around that this may be the best 26P X N512 daughter ever produced. Chery is one of the fanciest heifers you will see, she is an eye catcher. She is feminine fronted, deep sided and gets out and moves with ease. This outstanding cow prospect is a partnership ET heifer between Slabaugh Family Farms Red Angus and Shuter Family Cattle Company. One of the hard to find females that combines performance and eye appeal, 41R was purchased out of the Perks dispersal and has produced high performing bulls and awesome females alike. There are a few females out of 41R and by different sires that have made it into the herd at SFCC, including a flush mate that may be one of the most phenotypic females in the herd. Shepard Settlement Farms is well known nationally for their aggressive ET program and harem of donor females. These embryos are a classic example of why. The Independence X Abigail mating will absolutely produce females that you will want to retain in your herd and bulls that will be super marketable. With a CED of 9 and a BW EPD of -4.2 the progeny will be calving ease and maternal to be sure.

Mike continually puts togather matings that are a study in genetics. These embryos are sired by the great Soldier bull from the SSS program in Canada that is also the sire of past National Champion bull, Lazy MC Trooper. The donor dam is once again the great Abgail 0537 cow that has risen to the top of the Shepard Settlement Farms donor pen. Super balanced EPD profile and excellent maternal traits as well. Imagine a paternal sib to Trooper walking in your herd, you may want to keep a bull from this mating as a herdsire and the daughters will no doubt be stellar!

Cowboy Cut certainly needs no introduction to the Red Angus circles as we see many show winners as will as donor females being sired by him. Both J K Red angus and Solution Genetics have had extreme success with the Cowboy Cut progeny.

Here is a rare chance to gather Perfect storm semen. With Perfect Storm being deceased and only a few straws left in exhistance, now is the time to get it bought. We sold “Storm” semen in the Reds on the Rocks sale a couple of years ago for $240 a straw. “Storm” has produced daughters who have sold for $20,000 to $30,000 in past auctions.
