Even beyond carcass quality, other attributes that Red Angus can offer your program is efficiency, disposition and maternal qualities. The Fort Worth Stock Show has a long-standing history of livestock, youth and community support like no other in the country. It is always a pleasure to be involved with this event and being a part of the “Texas agriculture” atmosphere. The hospitality shown by the Texas Red Angus Association along with the mild January weather makes Fort Worth one of the most enjoyable cattle outings you can ever experience. This is a wonderful New Direction daughter who is a deep dark cherry red color, and is from a long line of donor cows. We flushed her three times as a heifer at Cross Country Genetics (Crescent, Oklahoma) and obtained 20 viable eggs. She was then successfully AI bred on her first time to the low birthweight semen sire RED SSS Oly 554T. Escalade possesses a strong set of EPDs and we are excited to see the impact that she will have on the breed. Estimated calving date: 5/29/17. Phenotype and Genotype. Anyone can set at a computer, enter data, let it crunch numbers for you and spit out your breeding info without even looking at an animal’s phenotype. On the other hand, it’s also not too difficult to breed for hair and show ring appeal without paying attention to “real world” data. There are few breeders in the industry that can combine the two successfully. Those animals are rare finds and I believe Done Deal is one of those animals. Done Deal is big footed, structurally correct and was the lead off bull for Jessie Weber’s NWSS Champion pen of bulls in 2016 (Phenotype). His BW EPD is at a -1.2 and his YW jumps to 112 which is in the top 10% of the breed. He has a balanced set of numbers with outstanding growth (Genotype). His sire, HXC Conquest needs no introduction. The Chain Ranch has produced over 500 daughters and granddaughters that are in production out of Conquest. Done Deal has been collected and used within the Chain Ranch registered program this past fall. We are going to use him extensively this spring in our commercial program and take his calves to the rail.

As we all know the interest in commercial Red Angus females the past four

years has been unprecedented. Quality has sometimes been hard to come by and

seems to be getting harder. We appreciate your interest in this set of females and if quality is what you are looking for, I would suggest being at the Fort Worth Red Angus Showcase Sale on January 28, 2017.

We have representation from some of the finest cattle operations in the country. Our consigners have carved these heifers from the hearts of their programs and

they are second to none! All heifers are current on health vaccinations, wormed, OCV vaccinated and will be ready to breed this spring.

The Chain Ranch program is backed by 125 years of maternal breeding. These heifers come from a program where there are no second chances. To make it this far as a bred heifer they had to bred in 45 days, their mothers have never missed a calving cycle, their disposition has been right and they have "that look". Chain Ranch retains ownership on all steers to the rail. Last years brothers to these heifers were feed all natural and graded 95% high choice and prime. This data is not take from small, sorted groups, but on a whole group of over 1000 head. They are bred to LBW Chain Ranch Red Angus bulls and are expected to calve Feb. 1 for 45 days.
