In The Beautiful Flint Hills 4
Welcome to The Fall Event at Wildcat Creek. This is truly a landmark moment in the history of our ranch. When we began assembling our herd in late 2009 and early 2010, we looked ahead to a point in time where we would be breeders and sellers of great cattle rather than simply acquirers and collectors of great genetics. While it is no secret that we spared no expense in assembling this herd comprised of great cattle from the top programs throughout North America, we have sought to blaze our own trail and define ourselves rather than allowing others to define us. This sale marks a watershed/seminal moment in the direction that this herd and this ranch are headed. There have been tumultuous times and growing pains and, as the saying goes, nothing worthwhile is ever easy. I am also reminded of the adage that, if you are going to make an omelet, you are going to break some eggs. That said, we now have the personnel in place coupled with the vision and resources to take this ranch to an entirely new level. It is and always has been our mission to treat you in the same manner that we would like to be treated. In the fall of 2010, just prior to our purchase of the ranch in Marion County, I prayed fervently that God would show us a sign if we were supposed to buy the ranch. As you may know, I was driving the perimeter of the ranch and saw a sign adjacent to its eastern boundary that said “Watchous Cattle Company. It was at that time that even my wife could not deny that this was an endeavor for which God had a plan and a purpose. Since that time, I have also been reminded that God will never give you more than you can handle. Over the course of the past three years, I have felt that we, individually and collectively, have been stretched to the limit at times, but God remains faithful and sustains us, as He always does and always will. Your belief in and support of this program mean more to us than you will ever know. We appreciate your business very much but, even more than that, we value your friendship and the relationships that have been built. We understand that your livelihood depends on productivity and that the genetics we, as a seedstock producer, provide are essential ingredients to that success. We want to positively impact your bottom line, because we know that this is not theoretical but is actually how you make a living and provide for your family. As such, we take this very seriously. We will always strive for excellence in every aspect of this operation as we continue to prove the confidence and trust you have in our people, our program and our cattle are, indeed, well placed. Please do not hesitate to let us know if there is any way in which we can serve you better and exceed your expectations. If your expectations are not being met, please let us know, as we will address and remedy any situation that requires action. Best regards to each and every one of you, your families and your businesses. We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship. Very truly yours, K. Robert Watchous

Sells open—ready to flush • The Red Angus breed is growing by leaps and bounds. The good cattle of this breed are known for their efficiency, phenotypic quality and moderate approach to all traits. We think that 008 represents the type and kind that Wildcat Creek is on a fast pace to produce—both red and black. This is one heck of a three year old that should never leave this ranch. • 008 phenotypically is an exciting female. She is tremendously big bodied and moderate framed with a powerful hip and hind leg. She is long necked, straight lined and very sound footed. If we could make them all like this one, the road to success would be an easy one. This cow would work in many different operations. She can produce breed-leading Red Angus seedstock or work in a SimAngus or composite producing program. Here’s a cow we really hate to part with.
PZC Dolly 7031 — Dam of Lot 1
• The best thing about this female may be the pedigree and the females that lie on her bottom side. She is an own daughter of PZC Dolly 7031, who is a daughter of Dolly 1L. Dolly 1L, a leading donor in the Weber program in Minnesota, is the mother of Doc Holiday and many other top sellers and winning Red Angus. Dolly 7031 is a cornerstone donor in the Zehnder Cattle Company herd in Minnesota. Daughters of 7031 have been purchased by J6 and Ulrich, and she has had SimAngus progeny sold into the Grass Lunning Simmental program. 7031 is also the dam of Rio, currently leased by Genex.
• 008 has a tremendous birth to yearling EPD spread and has a balanced tabulation across the board. 008 sells open and ready to flush, as she was set to enter the fall-calving embryo program. Dolly 008 is a highly marketable donor prospect and a great individual to lead off this offering.
•
• HXC Jackhammer 8800U is one of the leading Red Angus sires in the country and is leased by ABS. These cattle have met with success in the pasture and in the show ring. His dam is a super uddered, moderate framed Julian daughter.
• Maternal sister sells as Lot 32. WDZ–GLS Rio 116 ET Maternal sib to Lot 1. Leased by Genex.

feature sprINg-CalvINg COws Lot 2 A.I. 5/5 Hamley; P.E. through 7/2 Detour • 7906 was a feature cow in the Soo Line dispersion and is one that is acclaimed for her style and quality. Her pedigree comes from the wellknown and productive herd of Levi Jackson and Justin Morrison. The dam of this lot is a granddaughter of the great Mambo, found in so many successful Canadian pedigrees. Another notable name in this pedigree is the Elora cow family that may have been one of the most successful lines at Soo Line and in the Levi Jackson herd. • Southland Epic was sired by the many-time Canadian champion Rob Roy. • This is a beautiful straight Canadianbred female that has worlds of potential.

Lot 3 P.E. 4/2 to 7/10 to Mushrush Impressive U216 • The Kuruba cow family is another family that was one of the most noted at Soo Line. You can search every dam in the bottom side of this pedigree and find some kind of production history. The great granddam of 9025 is the dam of one of the most recognized sires in Red Angus history, Geis Prime Rib 411. She went on to produce Kuruba 29L, a maternal giant herself. • This young cow is sired by Corner Creek Cash, a bull used heavily and promoted by Kevin Blair in Canada. Cash has sired many successful cattle, including the 2010 National Champion Female in the U.S. • 9025 is a big bodied, stout made cow that has lots of power and body depth. It’s really hard to find red cows that look like this and are backed by this much history.

feature sprINg-CalvINg COws Lot 4 P.E. 4/2 to 7/10 to Mushrush Impressive U216 • Lisa 7901 is another leading cow from Justin Morrison. This female was another feature in the Soo Line program. A research of Red Angus pedigrees in Canada shows Mambo in many of them, and many successful ones on top of that. Semen on Mambo is rare in Canada and cannot be imported to the States. A Mambo daughter is a rare find, and this female should prove to be a potent breeding piece. She even goes back to Holden Hi Ho 7151 on her dam’s side, another breed giant. • This is a long fronted, big hipped cow that has tremendous potential in this breed. 7901 has the pedigree and the phenotype to be a leading donor in any program.

Wildcat Creek has decided to sell all of the replacement bred heifers that will calve in the spring of 2014. This was a hard decision but one that we felt would bring lots of attention to this sale offering. Tremendous pedigree and lineage back this set of bred heifers. There are genetics that you won’t find on every corner in the U.S., and many great cows line the bottom side of these pedigrees. This is a rare opportunity in the breed and one that you just have to see. Many good donor prospects and great cow makers are in this set. These heifers should be sought by breed-leading Red Angus programs and other breeds seeking foundation cows for composite production. They are right on target when it comes to quality and power, no matter what scenario they are placed in.

• The dam of 281Z was purchased in a past Bieber sale offering and has some of the most important Bieber and American genetics. Lot 7 has an impressive EPD tabulation, ranking in the top 3% of non-parent females for REA and top 15% for Milk.
•
• 281Z leads off this powerful bred heifer division in this sale. She is a daughter of Brylor Huckleberry 107W and granddaughter of the forementioned Huckleberry 701 in Lot 6. Huckleberry 107W is out of a Bodacious daughter. Bodacious was the cherry red, super stout herd sire that left so many great females across the U.S. and Canada. Bodacious was bred in the famed Pieper herd in Nebraska.
• If you have come looking for a true breeding piece and a well rounded pedigree, this may be the female to top the offering. She is the perfect blend of Canadian and American genetics and has worlds of potential and future ahead of her. You will love the body and power that she possesses. She could headline any major program in Canada or the U.S. • This set of bred heifers alone is worth your trip to see the sale offering. These featured bred heifers will knock your socks off!

• Lot 8 is another standout bred heifer in this impressive group. She is near three-quarter Canadian pedigreed and also comes from an important line on her dam’s side. Most importantly, her direct dam was an outstanding producer at Soo Line. Lassie 6338 produced Soo Line Hawk 9288, the $9,000 herd sire purchased by Silver Spur. Hawk was also a division winner in the National show at Denver. • Another important feature in this heifer’s pedigree is her maternal grandsire. Ter-Ron Rebel was a high selling bull at Agribition to Soo Line and left some incredible daughters. Rebel was never collected, and just a handful of daughters are in existence. Rebel is also the sire of Soo Line Countess 6125, the mother to the 2012 U.S. National Champion Female. • This is a stout made bred heifer. She has the power, the bone and the look to make a top producer. Check out her powerful hip and sound structure. Her dam is a great mother with a good udder.

This long necked, square made heifer is easy to spot in the pasture. Few purebred cattle are made with this much look and style. • Her dam is a direct daughter of Huckleberry 701, a sire that has a strong and impressive representation in this set of cattle. Blockanna 21X was produced in the JK Cattle Company herd, owned by Kurt and Paula Schwarz, and was successfully shown. • This heifer will work in any progressive Red Angus program or work great to many stout Simmental or Charolais sires for composite production. • DNA test is pending. Lot 12 A.I. 4/22 Oly 554T; P.E. 4/30 WCR Cam 1Y • A handful of good black/red gene carrier females will sell in this offering. The introduction of more black genetics in the red pedigrees, in both the U.S. and Canada, is taking hold, and these females would be a great opportunity if you are on that track. This heifer’s dam comes from a top Mulberry daughter back on a Net Worth female produced at Blair’s. • We are expecting great things from the Detour females. With their body type and capacity, they should make incredible, easy keeping mature cows. • This is one good looking girl here! She is super long necked and has a big, square hip. This one could raise a herd bull or top selling heifer calf with this kind of phenotype and performance. Check out her EPD tabulation. What a BW to YW spread, in the top 9% of the breed for YW and 11% for TM. She sells bred to Oly for a likely A.I. calf and a 50% chance of a redhided animal.

Six Mile Countess 105Y Full sister to Lot 13
• 3130A is a special lot that continues to get better and more impressive every day of her life. She is a full sister to Countess 105Y, the 2012 National Champion Female shown by Christy Collins and Safari Cattle Company that was also named Champion at Fort Worth in 2012 and Calf Champion at Agribition in 2011. The dam of this lot is Countess 6125, who sold in the Soo Line dispersion to Six Mile. 6125 was a daughter of Ter-Ron Rebel, a bull purchased by Soo Line that was a top seller at Agribition. Another granddaughter of Rebel sells as feature Lot 8. No semen was ever frozen on Rebel, and his daughters have continued to surface in many successful pedigrees that came out of the Soo Line herd. The Hamley embryos out of Countess 6125 have recently averaged over $1,000 each.

• This is a special heifer calf and one of the youngest in this open heifer offering. Like her champion sister, this heifer continues to improve with age. She is a stout boned, good bodied heifer that is very correct and sound footed. She is nice through her neck and front and has a super disposition. She is even more impressive on the halter than loose—it’s really hard to fault this one. Pay close attention here. • A full sister to the National Champion will be a valuable addition to any program. 105Y is in an extensive embryo program at Safari Cattle Company and is proving to be a great egg producer. She has been successfully flushed and has also produced in IVF.

Their mothers were no doubt top sellers in many leading programs. • 3059A is a daughter of Power Eye that has been a pasture standout all summer. She not only presents tremendous show potential but may have as much value as a donor cow as any in this offering. She is tremendously big bodied, square hipped and great topped. She has a perfect hind leg and is extra impressive from the side. This heifer has lots of style and presence and is super gentle. The bottom side of her pedigree has the influence of two great programs, Six Mile and Sebastian Stewart. • Soo Line Power Eye is doing a great job and was one of the highest selling bulls out of that program. He is adding power and lots of look. • This heifer calf is really big hipped and nicely balanced, long and clean necked, extra good footed and sound moving. • The pedigree power in this set of heifer calves is amazing. Here’s a heifer calf that everyone really likes—she just needs more time. She has as much quality and style as anything pictured. Her dam is what really sets her apart. She is a granddaughter of Shoderee 2F, a leading donor in the great and powerful Brylor herd in Canada. Her daughter 225W is the dam of this lot. 225W was the pick of two full E.T. sisters in the 2011 Tradition with a Vision Sale by Wildcat Creek. A full sib to 225W, Karma 12K, produced the $17,000 bull named “Strong” in a Walnut Springs sale. • This Ribeye heifer calf is one to look for. She has lots of hip and power and could really come on by this fall. She has the lines and pattern of a great heifer…she was just a little behind at photo time.
• The dam of Lot 20 was a top seller in the Soo Line dispersion and a noted young cow in that program. As a two year old, 7123 produced the second heaviest bull calf at Soo Line that sold to William Burnett of Canada. Her dam, 27J, was a CAA Elite Status dam with a 205-day ratio of 107 on six calves. Justin stated that 27J was one of the most impressive looking Red Angus females ever at Soo Line. 27J also produced a $12,000 herd sire for Bone Creek. • Don’t underestimate these heifer calves that are not pictured. The record rainfall in July was hard on the February and March calves that were weaned for the sale. This is a nice heifer calf that comes from a powerful Soo Line cow family. Opportunity presents itself here!

• 3113A is a daughter of one of the females that has been pinpointed to lead the way in the donor pen at Wildcat in the coming seasons. 160S is one of the most impressive cows on the ranch…big bodied, nice fronted and beautifully made. She is one of ranch manager Darren Schrags’ top picks. She was purchased from Triple SSS in Alberta. Triple SSS is known for their power cows that have tremendous quality. • This heifer is one of the biggest hipped and longest fronted ones in the bunch. She was a bit greener at photo time, but we think this one has potential, especially being out of this good cow.
• A dark, cherry red calf with power to spare. Deep bodied and capacious yet still feminine and level topped, she is a great show heifer prospect… but her best days will be as a cow making you money.
Wildcat Creek Ranch is really proud to offer this set of open show and donor prospects selling as Lots 13–23, and we wish you the best of luck with them! These heifers are from some of the most important Red Angus genetics on the continent.

2010 U.S. National Champion Female — Daughter of Lot 27
• I went to Canada in the fall of 2009 to search out some heifer calves to show in Denver at the National Show. When I first saw the daughter of 146R that later went on to win that winter, I remember Justin Morrison’s comments about her dam. He stated that she had been a good producer so far, and that he really liked the cow. Her daughter sired by Corner Creek Cash, that won the National Show, had lots of style and presence in the show ring. She was huge boned, great haired, long necked and really stout footed. Alan Sears commented on show day that she was one heck of a red heifer. She is currently in the Billy Estrada program in Mexico. • 146R was purchased by Wildcat Creek in the Soo Line dispersion. She had another heifer calf that was a sale featured open heifer in that dispersal. She has been successfully flushed, and we are offering roughly half of her remaining embryos. At catalog time, we were looking through a set of embryo calves that just came in from a cooperator herd. Perhaps the top heifer calf in the bunch is an E.T. daughter of 146R, and there are lots of good ones in that pen. • This is a power cow. She’s big boned, stout featured and huge bodied. There is a great deal of longevity in these stout Canadian-bred cows and in Red Angus in general. She’s just gettin’ warmed up! Imagine this cow, with this predictability, flushed to some other sires. She should have a calf at side by sale time sired by Oly 554T. Lot 31 P.E. 1/1 to 3/1 Detour; approximate due date 10/29 • This cow has an interesting pedigree and is out of a Pieperbred daughter of Sams Prospector that was purchased in the 2011 Kick Off Classic Sale in Tama, Iowa, from Walnut Springs. 936 was flushed three times at WSF for a total of 23 embryos, and several daughters have been retained in the herd. • Here’s another good cow in her prime that has been an early favorite of guests to the sale offering. She’s a moderate, stout bodied female that has impressive growth and milk numbers. She won’t be hard to find. • A daughter sells as Lot 41 in the spring-calving cows.

• An American-bred cow with a balanced set of EPDs, including a top 1% ranking for Marbling EPD. Produced in the Brandee Cattle Company herd.
• 36W was one of the top additions to the WCR program. Purchased for $23,000 at the Mile High Classic in Denver, she sells in her entirety. She is a maternal sister to JKC Huckleberry 701, a bull that has many featured progeny in this sale. This is a powerful pedigree and a rare opportunity to purchase such a female from this program. • We are selling 36W only to add interest to this sale. She’s made right and has a great look. She needs a chance to produce in a progressive E.T. program. Ranks in the top 2% for WW and YW EPDs.

• From the same cow family that produced Annie 7L. A maternal sister to the dam of this heifer sells as Lot 134. • Ranks in the top 13% for Marbling EPD.
• Here’s a heifer that is bred in the purple. Her dam is a granddaughter of PIE Atlantic, one of the most successful bulls in the Pieper program and a bull that was known for his quality and style. A Hamley x Atlantic should offer lots of mating choices.

• The Ribeyes are stout and powerful. This one is out of a top DAMAR female that is American bred on both sides. Low birth and high performance. • As evidenced by Lots 88–90, Ribeye daughters bred to the sleek and athletic Detour produce tremendous progeny. This combination also produces nice bulls—just ask Darren to see Cool!

• Out of a good Fine Line dam the we selected to join our program as the high seller in the 2010 Kickoff Classic in Iowa. • These Ribeye daughters will make stout cows. Ribeye was one of the highest selling Red Angus bulls of all time, which is why his silhouette graces the sign at our ranch headquarters.
• This is a double-bred Mulberry that should have been pictured. Lots of look and style and a great pedigree. Goes back to the noted Geis Kuruba family. • Top 3% REA EPD.

• Kodiak was perhaps the most successful black bull at Soo Line. He sired many great cattle, including Soo Line Motive. • Check out this heifer’s dam, Lot 73, to see what you can expect from this young female at the age of seven.
