FRIDAY, MAY 3 Cattle on display all day. Join us Friday evening for the DIXIELAND DELIGHT COUNTRY SOCIAL

SATURDAY, MAY 4 Cattle on display beginning at 8 a.m. Lunch served at 11 a.m.

DIXIELAND DELIGHT 36 BEGINS AT 12 NOON (CDT) Herefords sell first, followed immediately by Angus

is winter, to say the least, has been challenging. We in the Southeastern US have dealt with record seasonal rainfall, which led to record mud. Our friends throughout the heart of cattle country have dealt with a whole different monster. Multiple blizzards and bomb cyclones have left historic devastation throughout the agricultural industry that will take many years to overcome. Back in October, our friends to the south in Georgia and Florida battled Hurricane Michael, which went down as one of the worst in US history. We were proud of our little community here in Fort Payne, as we took donations of non-perishable items, drinks, gas and hygiene supplies. In just one day, we were able to fill the better part of our livestock trailer and deliver these supplies to farmers and ranchers who literally lost a lifetime of work. Having witnessed the devastation firsthand, pictures and television did not do it justice. We spent three days helping clean and pile trees to try and start mending fences. I’ll tell you…it’s been six months since Michael swept through, and they’re still cleaning and building fences. In all reality, we have been EXTREMELY blessed here at TRM; we’ve dealt with the rain and mud but have not gone through anything like our friends to the north, west and south have been through. To everyone, we say hang in there. Better days are ahead for all of us, and no doubt we love what we do in agriculture. e cattle in this offering are the best yet. We have a deep appreciation for the cows that will sell. rough all the winter weather, rain and mud, they have excelled. is was extremely hard on the fall cows and calves this year, and the fact that they have stayed in tremendous body condition, raised a big fall calf and bred back is truly an amazing feat. e last few sales I would say some of our spring pairs are our best kept secret. We take great pride in raising cattle that are big ribbed, sound footed and legged and are exceptional in their udder structure. We are extremely hard on these qualities and still put them at the forefront of our breeding decisions, regardless of their paperwork. As you look through the cattle, we think you will be pleased with the udder under these females—both breeds are exceptional. e fall ET heifers in the offering are the best we have ever offered. Everything we know about the cattle, you will know as well. We are truly blessed to work side by side with our family and loved ones. Living and working with family on our cattle operation is something we don’t take for granted, and we are forever grateful to the good Lord above for the blessing of being able to do what we love. We have a wonderful crew here and couldn’t get it done without them. ey are what make TRM what it is. We can’t thank “Da” Roland, Nonnie, Poppy and Mimi enough for all they do here at TRM and for us as a family. A new addition to TRM is Joseph Johnson and his wife, Whitney. He was forced to dive right in head first without question, and he has answered the call. We are fortunate to have our friends Brian and Joey Cash of Cash Cattle Company as guest consignors in the sale this year, offering some of their very best from the heart of their program. It’s said that the days are long, but the years are short. Ranch life sure makes that statement ring true, as we work sun up ’til sun down. Honesty and integrity are something we take very seriously, and the TRM motto is quite simple. We raise the type and kind of livestock that are stout, sound and FUNCTIONAL and can flat get the work done all while having adequate EPD profiles. Our customers mean the world to us, and we realize that without each and every one of you, none of what we do would be possible. We are forever grateful for our past, present and future customers. Please make plans to join us Friday, May 3, to view the cattle and enjoy fellowship and a good meal at our country social. If you ever need anything or if we could help you in any way, please don’t hesitate to call anyone here at the ranch. We appreciate each one of you and value our friendship more than you could imagine. We are blessed to call TRM customers our friends and colleagues, and we would love the opportunity to work with you. Sincerely,

John and Randa Starnes DIXIELAND DELIGHT 36 RED, WHITE & BLACK ANGUS & HEREFORD PRODUCTION SALE

Randy and Kelly Owen

Kelly and I would like to welcome everyone to join us for our 36th Annual Production Sale. We purchased our first registered cattle in the early 80s and have worked tirelessly to breed cattle that work for us and for our customers. We realize that everbody is busy at this time of year, so we truly appreciate when you all take the time to come and be part of our production sale. e flowers are blooming, the leaves are out, and the grass is green, so it is a beautiful time to come visit us on Lookout Mountain. If you have never toured Little River Canyon National Preserve, you owe it to yourself to come early and stay late to enjoy the scenery. We feel truly blessed to breed, raise and offer the very best of Angus and Hereford genetics. We cull the ones that don’t work and give you, our valued customers, opportunities to purchase the best of our herds. Only because of the support of our buyers over the years, we have been able, thank GOD, to pursue our dreams that are an extension of our grandfathers. I grew up watching my grandpas plow mules, milk cows, feed the hogs, pick cotton, take care of the horses and mules, plow tractors, and just being a hard working sharecropper’s son. We are a first-generation, joined by a second-generation farm family. Kelly and I are truly blessed with three wonderful children, their spouses and six wonderful grandchildren. Please join us for a celebration of an agricultural family Friday and Saturday, May 3rd and 4th. I look forward to shaking your hand and welcoming you to Dixieland Delight 36. We thank all our customers and those of you considering buying for the first time. anks for your participation through all these wonderful years.

• Offering buyer’s choice of two of the four flush mate sisters selling as Lots 5A through 5D. TRM will retain the two not selected as replacements. • Lots 5A through 5D are out of one of our top Hereford donors, RRO TRM Lady 1135 ET, and sired by Churchill Toro, who is a son of the famous Churchill donor 2205, an incredible power cow that is getting flushed as much as any cow in the Churchill program. Toro is a smooth polled 88X son, and that is hard to find. He is really wide based with great structure and is very attractive on the profile, as are these daughters. • The dam of Lots 5A through 5D is a full sister to the two-time Junior National Hereford Expo division champion RRO TRM Grace 1125 ET, who was also named Grand Champion at the 2012 Tulsa and Oklahoma state fairs, Reserve Grand Champion at the 2013 Oklahoma Youth Expo and Reserve Division Champion at the 2013 Denver and Fort Worth National shows. • These four flush sisters are maternal sisters to RRO TRM Pistol Annie 5003 ET, the top selling heifer in the fall 2015 TRM Close Enough to Perfect Online Sale who was also named Grand Champion Hereford Heifer at the 2016 MTSU Block and Bridle Show for Rayne Starkey.

• Maybe Baby 472 is a former Dixieland Delight sale topper whose half interest was selected by Grand Meadow Farms in 2016. She has since worked well in transplant, so we feel it is time to share her genetics while she is in her prime. She is a full sister to the 2016 National Western Stock Show Grand Champion Polled Bull, LCC FBF Time Traveler 480. • TRM originally selected 472 out of a Lowderman sale as a heifer calf. We feel she has some unique pieces that are hard to come by, combining exceptional length of neck and tremendous bone with a picture-perfect udder and attractive numerical balance across the board. • 472’s dam, Remetee 213, was the 2010 NAILE Grand Champion Female in both the open and junior shows. She is one of the most impressive cows in the breed with her massive construction that is built on impeccable structure. Stout, thick and big middled, she is the definition of a foundation donor cow. Not only did she perform in the ring, but she has earned her merit as a producer as well, rapidly becoming one of the Hereford breed’s top income generators. • A daughter of Lot 6 was the $13,750 top selling lot in the fall 2017 TRM Close Enough to Perfect Online Sale. • Ranks in the top 1% for WW, YW, CW, REA and CHB, top 20% for M&G, BMI and BII. • Offered with Grand Meadows Farms. Granddaughter sells as Lot 7. • Sells open.

• The sire of Lot 8A, X651, is one of the most complete high accuracy sires in the Hereford breed. He excels for the new traits of Dry Matter Intake and Sustained Cow Fertility while defying all the genetic antagonisms—elite calving ease, breed leading performance, moderate cow size, maternal ability and marbling. He sires moderate, easy fleshing, beautiful uddered females. His dam is one of the best cows at Ellis Farms, so this daughter should grow into a wonderful cow. • Ranks in the top 5% for BII, top 10% for WW, top 15% for BMI and top 20% for CED and YW. • Sells open.
