These first three lots are an exciting set of heifers! JCL’s first of the second-generation, and a chance for us to have our own, breed their own.
One of JCL’s favorites from day one, she is also a barn favorite of many visitors, including high-school and collegiate judging teams. Molly is super sound, deep ribbed, has a long hip and beautiful front. She checks the boxes for a show heifer, and also for a good mother cow for the long time breeder, or a youngster that wants to show well, and build a cow family of his/her own.

JCL Polly is structurally sound and JCL thinks she will look even better by late fall than she does today. She is lighter in color than her sisters, but has the same foot and soundness. She and Molly are both sweet in terms of disposition. Buy with confidence. You are seeing her two sisters – her mother (JCL Fire N Ice) and her sire (TWG Tango.)

Holly is a twin, and her twin has been sold to Jaden, an 8-year old in Arkansas. Holly is absolutely impressive from several points of view. First, she’s a twin, raised with Jolly on a Lim-flex recip. She has genetically-given dark red, ever-so-thick hair (she was slicked in May, and grew this over the heat of the summer – photos taken on 9/9/20). Finally, take a look at her EPD’s. 200 herdbuilder. Cheryl wanted to keep her, but together, she and JCL decided that this set of heifers should be seen and available as a set, so that people can see the line that they are buying into.

Another barn favorite and a sweetheart. She is deeper red, and a beauty in terms of front, shape and hip. She’s a looker, to be sure, and that’s no accident. Calypso is a Tango daughter from our first calf heifer we call “L’il Christy”. We purchased her dam in 2018 from Christy Collins and now co-own L’il Christy with Gary and Kathy Buchholz of Texas.

Named for JCL’s (Jimmy’s) mother, Hilda Linthicum, Hilda has that deep-red, almost burgundy color that so many love. She’s bred to be good – daughter of the national Champion PTO, and sports EPD’s that are tough to find in females that look like she does. She and Sweet Caroline share a outside lot, and both heifers took to a halter and show stick the first day in the barn.

Sweet Caroline is the first natural calf of JCL Fire N Ice. She debuted behind her Mom on the cover of our last (April) catalog/look book. Since then, Sweet Caroline has grown into a heifer calf that gives us that “brick house” feel. She is sound, deep, has the right angles and a topline that makes herd bulls. The name Sweet Caroline fits. She took to the halter, combing and show stick the first day in the barn – unbelievable! Sweet Caroline is co-owned with Jones Legacy Livestock of Groveton, Texas, but born and raised in Welch, OK.

Another ET daughter of a first calf heifer, JCL Jackie. As a bit of background, JCL Fire N Ice, JCL Jackie and Jackie-O are maternal half-sisters – all daughters of Lazy MC Lorin 168D. Each has a different sire, but the same Mom.
Working note: JCL Jacqueline has been spending a couple hours a day in the showbarn, the rest of the day and night in the field with Momma. She will be completely weaned by sale day.

Let’s dream a minute and make a short wish list: Top EPD’s, show profile, from parents that have proven themselves. This baby has it all. It’s taken JCL 4 years to breed her. We’ve tried to buy something with her look and numbers and just can’t find what we want. This girl has a future, and she hasn’t even reached the 3 month mark. Her Mother is Royce’s Sensational 14A, top selling cow in the 2017 Denver Sale – $54,000, and the current “EPD Queen” at JCL. As a heifer, this female was Reserve Champion at the Red Angus Jr. National, and a winner for the Royce family of California. Her sire is TWG Tango, Reserve Sr. Champion Bull- Denver National Show, in 2019. Working note: Joy is not yet weaned. She spends a few hours each day in the showbarn – the rest of the time in the pasture with her Momma. She will be completely weaned in November.

Actual Weights: BW: 69 WW: 836 Actual Weight on 9/11/2020: 1185 (10.5 months old) Why do we love Dayton so much? First, his type. We really appreciate his large foot, flex of pastern and angles. This boy can move. What’s more, he has a super profile, and a good attitude. Next, his pedigree – he is an Andras Fusion from Lazy MC Lorin 168D – making him a maternal halfbrother to JCL Fire N Ice, JCL Jackie , JCL Jackie-O, JCL Bandito, JCL Ice Storm and others. His sire is known for strong performance and moderate birth weights. We envision him as a potential heifer bull, who can still add some growth. 100% possession after show career, and 50% semen interest sells.
