Dear Fellow Angus Breeders: Welcome to the 27th Edition of the Genetic Opportunity Sale! For us, this sale is the culmination of a full year’s worth of planning. Our philosophy over the past 27 years has not changed. We are proud to consistently offer top, cutting-edge genetics to progressive livestock producers. We agreed some 27 years ago that only cattle that we would love to retain in our own programs would be offered to you in this sale, and we stand by that commitment today. We truly look forward to the opportunity to visit with our past customers and also welcome new buyers every year. We are proud that many champions have gone through our sale ring, and many champions have been produced by genetics purchased in this sale. We feel that the offering in this year’s event is the strongest and deepest of all the years in business. We encourage you to visit our farms prior to the sale, and we sincerely hope that you, our Angus friends, can be with us this year! Please join us Friday, September 9, the evening before the sale for fellowship, and of course sale day, Saturday, September 10, at noon. Thank you for your continued support!

Sale Manager
Dear Angus Friends and Fellow Cattlemen: Welcome to the 27th Annual Genetic Opportunity Sale! We are excited to bring you this outstanding offering in 2011. Grubbs Angus Farm and Les Craft Angus along with their sale guests, MCM Farms and Stewart Select Angus, have again assembled a set that illustrates the result of their combined experience in the purebred seedstock industry, spanning over seventy years and three generations…and their passion for the Angus female. They consistently bring forth their very best, and the care that was taken in the selection of this year’s offering is apparent in the group of cattle they have pooled for your appraisal. The success that Genetic Opportunity customers have had with past investments is testament to the depth and quality present in past events, and this year is no exception. These cattle combine performance with excellent phenotype to become competitors at any level in our industry. The bottom line is: Genetic Opportunity cattle appreciate in value. The genetics and EPDs represented on both sides of these pedigrees are second to none. The Angus breed’s most popular sires are represented here as well as an exciting group of calves by the resident herd sires for each firm. Excellent show and donor prospects from power cow families and sired by breed-leading bulls will sell. Past Junior customers have claimed championship honors in show rings across the region and at every level of competition. Whether you select a proven female or an open prospect, you cannot go wrong. You will find an excellent set of replacement females—either sold alone or on the side of their dams. If you are searching for a young donor, don’t overlook the select set of bred heifers. I am excited to again be working with this progressive group of Angus breeders in the marketing of their cattle. Evaluate your own situation and breeding goals, and on September 10 take advantage of the knowledge and cutting-edge efforts of these breeders and their programs. Please join us Friday evening for food and refreshments while you preview the cattle. Feel free to contact me or any of the owners with your questions or comments. Sincerely,

This Raven daughter is right out of the heart of the MCM herd. Dale is excited about this daughter of the popular “Totally Tuned,” and for good reason. Countess 51 possesses that rare combination of look and balance with added bone and muscle. The Countess genetics have consistently been some of the most proven and predictable lines in the Grubbs operation, and this female has the same visual and performance capabilities. The Pathfinder great-grandam of Lot 15 serves as a donor in the LaGrand program in South Dakota. Countess 252 has been a top-indexing Pathfinder Dam with an impressive progeny weaning ratio of 116 on three natural calves combined with a progeny %IMF ratio of 106 and a progeny ultrasound ribeye ratio of 101 on 45 head. Lady Agnes 781 stems from the ever-popular Lady Agnes 913, a many-time champion and past ROV Senior Yearling Show Heifer of the Year. The production capacity of this female is evident in the “tank” of a heifer calf she has at her side.
This powerful young female’s dam is a maternal sister to Lady Agnes 5001, who was selected as the 2006 Reserve Grand Champion Owned Female at the Indiana State Preview Show and the 2006 Reserve Early Spring Heifer Calf Champion at the Atlantic National and went on to produce the second top-selling female in the 2008 Patton and Friends Sale, Patton Lady Agnes 846. Another maternal sister to the dam of this female, Lady Agnes 404, produced Lady Agnes 625, who was selected as the 2008 Grand Champion Cow/Calf Pair at the 2008 Indiana State Preview Show. Yet another maternal sister to the dam of this featured Lot 35 was the $14,000-valued Lady Agnes 332, along with a maternal sister who was selected as the 2002 Grand Champion Cow/Calf Pair with the featured maternal brother, Roth CAF United 3481, who earned the ROV Show Bull of the Year award.
