Dixieland Delight Hello, EVERYBODY!
It gives Kelly and me great pleasure to welcome you to Dixieland Delight 33. We feel truly blessed to be able to have 33 consecutive production sales. We've seen a lot of great friends come and go, and we feel so fortunate to still to be able to have fun, work hard and keep our family together. A very special thank you to all of our previous participants in Dixieland Delights gone by. So many great memories that we will cherish forever and pass down to our generations.
Randy and Kelly Owen
It’s emotional mornings for us to visit with Randa and John just to say “hello” OR to be excited about the new calves that were born OR weaned OR the yearling weights OR the first-calf heifers. We cull our females very strictly, so when the first-calf heifers have become KEEPERS, we feel they are worthy of what our breeding is all about. ere are numerous reasons why we cull our females, so we feel strongly about what we offer in our production sale for YOU, our potential customer. In other words, we’ve tried to take all the potential problems away before they are in our production sales. John and Randa, (especially John ha!!) have an amazing record on LIVE CALVES!!!! My daddy always told me, “It is really hard to sell a dead calf.” So with my late father’s words always ringing in my ears, Randa and John, carrying on our traditions, place great emphasis on females that breed, have no calving difficulty and milk. Kelly and I are very thankful for the hard work AND dedication AND care AND love that John and Randa put in to all the cattle. We get daily reports from HARPER ROSE on baby calves and special names—especially Cinderella, and names like that! Of course, that’s to be expected from a well-loved little two-year-old girl, who, IN OUR DREAMS, will be very much a part of the future of Tennessee River Music, Inc. It gives me a chance to say thank you to all the bull customers who have participated in our December bull sales and other consignments we have around the country. Also thanks to all of our customers who use Lookout Mountain Genetics for our services provided for livestock, and to Jason Hammond, Dave Roberts, and Robin Zimmerman for doing such a great job at that facility. We truly appreciate it. I wanna say a special thank you to Donald Stephens, who has spent many cold winters and many hot summers here on the ranch or fixing something that doesn’t run—he’s the BEST. To our cousin Tyler Owen, we say we appreciate you and your hard work and dedication and your good attitude. I just wish I could work out with the amount of weights which he uses with his weight routines, which is worth paying to see! We’ll be having great music Friday evening with my great friends that come down each year to share the evening with us all. If you love music, come be with us Friday to view the cattle and listen to some great music. Or visit earlier if you wish to. REMEMBER THAT THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST SCENIC AREAS IN THE SOUTHEAST. IT’S WORTH COMING AND SPENDING AN ENTIRE WEEK OR WEEKEND JUST TO SEE LITTLE RIVER CANYON, DESOTO STATE PARK OR ANY OTHER SCENIC VIEWS FROM LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN. If any of us can do anything to make your trip to Tennessee River Music any easier, please contact us. Always know that you could never buy any Hereford or Angus cattle from a family that would appreciate it more!
Saturday,May7
Looking forward to seeing y’all those two days: Friday and Saturday, May 6 and 7th, or earlier. We’re very grateful for your consideration in your participating in Dixieland Delight 33. God Bless, Randy and Kelly Owen

It is with great excitement and anticipation that we welcome you to our Annual Dixieland Delight Red, White and Black Production Sale. It is truly an honor and very humbling to have customers and friends like each and every one of you, who have allowed this event to be our 33rd consecutive John, Randa and Harper Starnes sale. As you flip through the catalog, you will notice the offering is smaller than in years past, yet the cattle speak for themselves in quality. In offering a smaller set, we’re rebuilding for the future so that we can continue to offer a large selection of proven cattle. is year’s sale will be highlighted by highly proven fall pair splits as well as a select set of fall ET heifer calves straight from the heart of our replacement pen. is year we have decided to offer half embryo interest in our very best spring-calving two-year-old within each respective breed. We feel the cattle offered in this event are the very best that we have ever offered, as we work toward our goal of producing highly sought-after, profitable, practical, and phenotypic cattle without sacrificing performance. We would like to extend a special thank you out to each of our parents, because without their love and support, none of this would be possible. We appreciate all of the hard work and dedication from Tyler Owen and Donald Stephens, and everyone else involved throughout the year working to continue TRM’s success. anks go out to each and every one of you for taking the time to appraise our offering. e love of the cattle and the excitement they bring to our hearts keep us optimistic toward the future. From the Sale Manager Dear Friends and Fellow Breeders, Welcome to the 33rd Annual Dixieland Delight Sale at Tennessee River Music, Inc. e 2016 sale again features the best of both breeds here at TRM, and I hope you will join us for this “Red, White and Black” event. I would first like to thank Randy, Kelly, John, Randa and the rest of the TRM crew for again allowing me to assist them along in the marketing of this exceptional set of cattle. John and Randa have embraced their role as parents to Harper and their management role at TRM and, with the help of their crew, have again assembled a tremendous offering. e presentation of this set of cattle is second to none. e 33rd offering isn’t as large as it has been in recent years, but the quality runs deep. TRM has assembled a sound, functional set of cattle that excel in phenotype and individual performance while maintaining a strong genetic base with numerical balance and diversity. Whether you are simply adding to your herd, seeking a donor dam or a junior herd sire, or you’re looking for your next show ring champion, you will find it among this exceptional offering. In the past five Junior National Hereford Shows, Tennessee River Music has produced four division champions and five class winners along with a host of other heifers that have been toward the top of their classes; I feel like this set of heifer calves is the most impressive to date in terms of offering show ring and donor potential. TRM also produced a division champion at both Louisville and Denver and the Champion Horned Heifer at the Southwest Regional Show from last year’s sale. In the Angus division, the breed’s most notable sires and cow families are present in the pedigrees of a uniform set of exceptionally made females. eir phenotype and performance represent the TRM blueprint for a beef cow. For those of you who have not attended a TRM sale before, you are in for a real treat. is is a family operation, and the hospitality and entertainment extended by the Owen family are like nowhere else. ey work diligently on the presentation of the cattle, and you are sure to appreciate their efforts once you lay eyes on this exceptional offering. Please evaluate the needs of your operation and plan to join us on Friday, May 6, to preview the cattle and on Saturday, May 7, for this great event. Please do not hesitate to call me with any questions on either breed or if I can help you in any way. Sincerely, Matt Sims

H/TSR/CHEZ/ FULL THROTTLE ET Sire of Lot 1
• Lot 1 in the 33rd Dixieland Delight Sale is one of the most intriguing lots ever offered at TRM. We feel that Hammer Down provides the blend of superior genetics, numerical balance and phenotypic excellence needed to make him a next generation breed changer. • The sire of this herd bull prospect, Full Throttle, has been widely used across the Hereford breed since Denver 2015, when he was named Reserve Grand Champion Polled Bull. He is being utilized by the most astute breeders across the country and has produced outstanding results. Full Throttle combines two of the most notable cow families in the last 20 years. His dam, Sweet Red Wine, has been the most prolific cow in the Hereford breed in quite some time. In 2014 alone, she produced a $110,000 heifer, a $165,000 heifer and a $57,500 heifer. That crop of heifers went on to be named Denver National Reserve Grand Champion Heifer and Junior National Grand Champion Owned Horned Female in 2014. Full Throttle semen is not readily available on the open market. • The dam of Hammer Down, /S Lady Thor 2447Z, was the $43,000 top selling selection of Tennessee River Music from the 2014 Shaw Female Sale and went on to be named Division IX Champion at the 2014 JNHE. Since that time, she has taken her place at the helm of the TRM Hereford donor program. In the 2015 Dixieland Delight Sale, a flush on 2447 sold to Churchill Cattle Co. for $18,500, and 1/2 interest in her natural daughter sold for $17,000 to Bob Morris of Texas. A heifer calf pregnacy from Thor 2447Z sells as Lot 2. • We think Hammer Down has what it takes to continue the legacy of excellence that his parents have started. • Ranks in the top 5% for REA; top 10% for YW and CHB; top 15% for WW.

• Selling a guaranteed heifer calf pregnancy, due 8/5/16.
• The heifer calf pregnancy selling as Lot 2 is truly one of a kind. This was the only female pregnancy resulting from the mating of CHAC Mason 2214 with /S Lady Thor 2447Z. • The sire of this mating, Mason, was the 2015 National Western Stock Show Grand Champion Polled Bull plus Supreme Champion Hereford and the 2015 Hereford Champion of the World. In 2014, he was the North American International Livestock Exposition Grand Champion Hereford Bull and the American Royal Reserve Grand Champion Bull. In 2013, Mason was the 2013 Junior National Reserve Grand Champion Bull. His progeny are balanced and attractive with true performance, thickness, muscle shape and width. Mason sires powerful calves with style, growth and performance, and this heifer should be no exception. • The donor dam of Lot 2, /S Lady Thor 2447Z, was the $43,000 top selling selection of Tennessee River Music from the inaugural Shaw Female Sale and went on to be named Division IX Champion at the 2014 JNHE. Since that time, she has taken her place at the helm of the TRM donor program. In the 2015 Dixieland Delight Sale, a flush on 2447 sold to Churchill Cattle Co. for $18,500, and 1/2 interest in a maternal sister to Lot 2 sold for $17,000 to Bob Morris of Texas. 2447’s son by Full Throttle sells as Lot 1.

• Selling 1/2 embryo interest in LCC FBF 0124 Maybe Baby 472 with the option to dou-
ble the bid and also own 1/2 interest in the heifer calf currently at her side by CRR Catapult 109, born 2/18/16. • In a continued effort to offer their best, TRM is selling 1/2 embryo interest in this full sister to the reigning National Western Stock Show Grand Champion Polled Bull, LCC FBF Time Traveler 480. • We are excited to share the first genetics from this powerful young female and feel the heifer calf at her side is only a glimpse of the productive capacity this female possesses. • TRM originally selected 472 out of the Lowderman Cattle Co. sale as a heifer calf for $17,500. We feel she has some unique pieces that are hard to come by, combining exceptional length of neck and tremendous bone with a picture-perfect udder and attractive numerical balance for all measurable traits. • Her dam, Remetee, was the 2010 NAILE Grand Champion Female in both the Open and Junior shows. She is one of the most impressive cows in the breed with her massive construction that is built on impeccable structure. She is stout, thick and big middled and is the definition of a foundation donor cow. Not only has she performed in the ring, but she has earned her merit as a producer as well, rapidly becoming one of the Hereford breed’s top income generators. • The sire of this young donor, Times A Wastin, was the 2013 Denver Supreme Champion Hereford and sired a $115,000 bull in his first calf crop and a Denver Champion. If you are serious about raising great ones, this is the female you need to focus on. • Ranks in the top 10% for REA; top 15% for CHB; top 20% for CED; top 25% for WW, Milk and M&G.

lot 12
• The $40,000-valued and now-deceased dam of Lot 12, TRM Cowgirl 8066, was one of the best Wrangler 19D daughters in the breed. She originated in the TRM program and was purchased by Star Lake. When she became a mother, TRM purchased 1/2 back for their program, and in the Star Lake dispersion, Bushy Park became their partner on this great female. Taken before her time, Cowgirl had the looks, the udder and the genetics to become a foundation female of her own cow family and is proving that fact with her progeny. • Lot 12 offers balance and eye appeal without sacrificing power. Her added dimension and broodiness suggest long-term value and true return on investment. Whether heading to the show ring, enhancing your herd’s visual quality or adding to your donor pen, here is a red-eyed female you don’t want to miss.

• Selling a guaranteed heifer calf pregnancy, due 9/12/16.
VAR DISCOVERY 2240 Sire of Lot 101 pregnancy
HENRIETTA PRIDE 0533 Maternal granddam of Lot 101 pregnancy • The $80,000-valued dam of Lot 101 was the Lot 1 half interest selection of Tennessee River Music from the 2013 Pollard Sale, where we also selected a heifer pregnancy from 0533 for $7,500 that developed into the $56,500 top selling lot in our May 2014 sale. • 0533 typifies the blend of phenotypic quality, numerical balance and genetic superiority that TRM and Pollard Farms are striving to produce. This powerful female is a favorite of all who have seen her. The same body, hip and power that have attributed to her dam’s popularity are instantly recognized in her flawless phenotype, and she passes those traits to her progeny. 0533 posts progeny ratios of 18@102 for %IMF and 18@101 for REA. • In the 2015 Dixieland Delight Sale, RimRock Productions selected 1/2 interest in two spring ET 0533 daughters by Waylon for $10,000 each. • In the 2016 Pollard Bull Sale, four sons of 0533 sold for an impressive average of $7,663 and included the $16,500 third top-selling bull. • Three maternal brothers to Lot 101 sold in the 2015 Pollard Bull Sale for an impressive average of $12,667 and included the two top selling bulls—both sons of O’Reilly Factor. • TRM selected 1/2 interest in two maternal sisters to Lot 101, PF 0100 Henrietta Pride 3509 and PF 0100 Henrietta Pride 3537, in the 2014 Pollard Sale for $28,000. • A heifer pregnancy from 0533 by Consensus sold in the 2012 Pollard Sale to Darrel Chapman for $12,500, and another sold for $13,500 in the 2014 Tennessee River Music Sale. A full sister to the dam of Lot 101 was the $40,000 selection of Spruce Mountain Ranch from the 2011 Pollard Sale, and a full brother to the dam of Lot 101 was the$19,500 second top selling bull in the 2012 National Western Bull Sale to Charles J. Beaman from Colorado. • The sire of this heifer pregnancy, VAR Discovery 2240, was the lead off and high selling bull of the 2013 Vintage Angus Ranch Bull Sale in California. Discovery's progeny have been highly sought after in sales throughout the United States, making him the go-to son of Ten X that offers a rare genetic package with moderate birth, extreme growth and elite carcass traits. His Zoetis 50K profile rankings are in the top 10% for CED, BW, WW, YW, Doc, CEM, Milk and CW.
