30° Park
The 30° Park is a social housing project located in Obrera, Mexico City. The design is influenced by the site quality and context: park, heavy traffic, and existing building. The park then continues to the whole site with commercial spaces on the ground floor. In addition, to block the heavy traffic on the west part of the site, the social housing takes the advantage of the existing building (west-south) to stop the traffic, and closing the block for pedestrian walkway only. The combination between the existing buildings and the new buildings on the south-end also allows to maintaining the original fabric and also introducing the new fabric to Obrera. The social housing then takes part starting from the second storey and goes up to 10-storey height on the North Building. To extend the quality of the park, the design of the park continues vertically with the openings that serves as a shared private space for the residence.
Commercial Extension to the Park
The 30° Park is located at Obrera, Mexico City. Through site context and analysis, the design takes part in responsing the park and the blocking the heavy traffic.

CONNECTING AREA The landscape design is planned by three zones: public, connector, and private area. In the public area, the visitors are facilitated with the public gym and cafe area. The erg room for the rowers also located in the gym facing towards the water to connect it back to the river. To connect the two distinct sites, steps walking/ seating area is designed . It also acts as a park to the larger South Park neighborhood area as the neighborhood lacks of green space. Towards the northern site, it focuses on the water usage and more private area for the rowers

SHELL HOUSE EXTERIOR VIEW Entering from Orr Street, the shell house has two types of access: human access and boat access. Human access uses the steps to get to the shell house, while boat has ramp to go down to the apron. To get into the river, there are steps to replace the dock as well as the seating area for the spectator to watch the rowing competition.

The design adapts a simply steel structure from the industrial buildings surround the site and also makes the building feel lighter as the concept of the buildings is floating. To hold the building, the steel column sits on the concrete strip footing, with the roof and floor are supported by steel beams. The columns are purposely designed being hide from the facade to realize the floating experience. The extended floor then is used as a seating area during day time, and the metal panels will cover the buildings when the shell house is closed.

The paper mill design is inspired by the process of glue making in papermaking. Glue is an important element in papermaking as it helps the paper to separate each paper sheet. The abstraction of the force pushes down in mucilage process, allow space to flow in between and creates the space in which human can inhabit it. Heavy serves as primary structure & light connects to secondary and tertiary elements: Activities are filled in the space in between primary structure.

The refuge is located at the forest of Discovery Park, is dedicated for visitors to have a temporary shelter and place to rest. The building's concept was influenced from the verticality of the trees and natural forces in the area, such as rain, wind, and sound. The refuge provides protection to the environmental forces while reminds the visitor about the beauty of the forest and Puget Sound. The slats act as if they are the trees filtering the sunlight and covering the human from wind and rain. Gradual stairs are mimicking the ascending forest ground.

The concept of the refuge comes from the adaptation of trees that is protecting the site. The trees are the major forces in the site and it acts as a natural shading devices and protector from the environment forces to the site. In the intake, the refuge also gives the visitor a comfortable temporary place to rest. The first space is mimicking the negative space of the trees, it has a tall double height space to give the experience of the forest while being protected under roof. The gradual stairs then lead to the more private space, but still preserving the soil. The individual sleeping platforms imitates the idea of tree branches that giving a place for a bird to rest and an arm to stay contemporarily.
