Pilot Study Reviews Tourism Impact in Cyprus
T
he Travel Foundation, in partnership with TUI Travel and Aeolos Travel, launched a pilot study that will focus on understanding and measuring the impact of tourism on a destination. Cyprus was chosen for the pilot study as it is a mainstream tourism destination, popular with tourists from the UK as well as an important destination for TUI Travel. For the study, the Total Impact Measurement & Management (TIMM) methodology developed by PwC will be applied to TUI Travel’s mainstream tourism operations, whereas the main focus will be on local hotels TUI Travel works with. The study aims to provide new insights into the impacts of mainstream tourism on a holiday destination and identify key areas to focus on to deliver a more positive overall impact from tourism.
