n the slopes of Sasakwa Hill, the remodelled Singita Serengeti House has opened to the public with new grounds displaying a brand new tented spa suite, a media room and a full gym. Surrounded by a colourful wildlife portfolio, Singita Serengeti House focused on preserving and protecting the wilderness throughout the renovation process. The African-inspired interior was achieved through Cécile & Boyd and GAPP architects' partnership that enhanced the Tanzania’s culture through the use of local raw materials.

iming to move away from traditional energy sources at its 29 lodges and camps, &Beyond has recently installed what is said to be the first of its kind state-of-the-art off-grid electrical micro grid in Botswana. Placed at &Beyond Xaranna Okavango Delta Camp, the system incorporates a solar photovoltaic power plant and a Tesla Powerpack battery energy storage system which has allowed the lodge to decrease generator runtime from 24 to five hours per day. Joss Kent, CEO, &Beyond, explained, “Solar photovoltaic technology has proven itself to be a reliable, economic and effective way of reducing one’s carbon footprint and dependence on fossil fuels. With an aim of reducing the carbon emissions across our group by eight by 2020, we are currently actively implementing energysaving, environmentally-friendly systems [...].”

In addition, the remodeled retreat emphasises artwork that tells the stories of David Livingstone and of philanthropic work at Nakatindi.

The à la carte menu pays homage to the best in local produce, and guests will also be able to discover some new items on the dessert menu from Thierry Metee, executive pastry chef, that include exotic-inspired desserts. “Our new menu at Bleu has been curated to showcase local produce at its best. The in-room experience has also been enhanced with the addition of a compact gym, yoga bag a well-stocked mini bar and coffee station. The new Explorer Lounge is modelled on the orientation room at Sanctuary Chief’s Camp, inviting guests to discover more about the delta ahead of their explorations. Mandarin Oriental Qianmen will provide guests with an opportunity to experience luxury living in authentic Beijing surroundings. The hotel will be spread over the Qianmen East Hutong Quarter, alongside privately owned traditional residences, retail outlets, restaurants, bars and cultural venues. As well as featuring landscaped courtyard suites, the hotel will boast an array of food and beverage outlets, along with multi-purpose function rooms, spa and leisure facilities.
Pan Pacific Yangon to Open in Myanmar
eal estate developers in China, Luneng Group, and Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, have announced plans to open a luxury property hotel in Dalian, located in the Liaodong Peninsula in NorthEastern China. Four Seasons Hotel Dalian will offer approximately 250 guest rooms and suites, a pool, fitness centre and spa. The hotel will also include extensive event and meeting spaces with several ballrooms and meeting rooms, alongside restaurants, a hotel bar, lobby lounge and a deli and pastry shop with outdoor terrace. “We are pleased to partner with Four Seasons, a company we greatly admire, to bring our combined vision to life as a crowning feature of the city’s new financial and commercial centre,” said Tao Zhou, head of hotel division, Luneng Group.

aking its mark in Myanmar, Pan Pacific Hotels Group is set to welcome its first branded hotel in the region this November. The Pan Pacific Yangon, will boast 336 rooms and suites over 25 floors, just a short walk from Yangon River. The hotel will offer guests an array of amenities such as spa facilities, fitness centre, swimming pool, meeting and event space, and a number of dining options. ollowing a renovation, Anantara Angkor Resort transformed into a premier all-suite retreat and has revealed its new suites, Siem Reap’s plushest presidential suites and the Henri Mouhot and Anantara Explorer suites. The two-bedroom, Henri Mouhot suite pays tribute to the French naturalist and explorer, while the one-bedroom Anantara Explorer suite is inspired by Jim Thompson, and can accommodate up to three guests. Both suites feature indoor and outdoor living spaces to accommodate families or small groups, including a lounge and bar area, two dining areas, marble bathrooms with double vanity, bathtub and oversized rain shower, dressing room, a private spa room with a Jacuzzi bath tub, deep plunge and massage area and a plunge pool in an enclosed private garden.

he first hotel of Jumeirah Group in the Asia Pacific, Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel Shanghai, has been rewarded with a Michelin star. The 2018 Michelin Guide Shanghai took place at the hotel and chefs had the challenge of preparing a special meal for the Michelin Guide cocktail party. Without altering traditional flavours, the team, including executive Chinese chef, Frank Hu, implemented western food ingredients and cooking techniques to showcase the flavours of Shanghai in a contemporary light. The chefs also used the seasonal speciality ingredient, crab, to make a traditional Chinese spring roll, pinched into a small pocket, deep-fried and filled with sautéed fresh shrimp mixed with crab meat.

or the first time, Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters will launch a collection adding a twist to its most popular tours by showcasing Grand Canyon West’s new restaurant, Sa’Nyu Wa. Whether arriving by helicopter, airplane, or Mercedes Sprinter vehicle, guests have three unique ways to travel to the Grand Canyon before experiencing a spectacular three-course lunch at the area’s only full-service dining location. rivate Jets has expanded its fleet with the addition of four jets, including one to be based at San Antonio International Airport. The company has acquired the certificates for a 1986 Citation SII; a 2001 King Air 200; a 2007 Lear 40XR; and a 2006 Lear 45XR. The Citation SII will be the second aircraft in Private Jets’ fleet to be located in San Antonio. Commenting on the expansion, Eric Wells, president, Private Jets, said, “This significant growth in our fleet represents an opportunity to increase selection and service for our customers. The South Texas market is particularly important to us, so we are pleased to grow the San Antonio portion of our fleet.”
Bombardier Reveals New Business Jet

t the National Business Aviation Association conference which took place on October 10 - 12 in Las Vegas, Bombardier unveiled what is said to be the largest purposebuilt business jet in the aviation industry, named, The Architect. Being the fourth Global 7000 flight test vehicle the new jet it is hailed to be the only business jet with four living spaces to showcase a complete kitchen and full-sized crew suite. Aiming to be fully developed and certified by the second half of 2018, the aircraft will be used to authenticate the overall passenger experience, including the cabin management system and entertainment options, newly designed seats and services.

atar Airways announced the extension to its new Pre-Select Dining service to first and business class passengers, while travelling on select long-haul flights from Doha. Available from October, the service offered to those flying long-haul to Africa and Asia, joining Europe, the US and Australasia. Passengers are able to pre-select one main course from the à la carte on-board menu, as far as 14 days in advance and up to 24 hours before take-off. H.E. Akbar Al Baker, group CEO, Qatar Airways, said, “Following its highly successful introduction in August, we have decided to extend our popular Pre-Select Dining service for passengers flying on long-haul flights from Doha to select destinations in Africa and Asia.”

empinski Hotels is adding new destinations to its Middle East and Africa portfolio, with two openings in the pipeline and additional projects underway in the UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Africa. fter undergoing an extensive renovation, 152-year old Hotel de la Paix has recently debuted as The Ritz-Carlton Hotel de la Paix, Geneva, marking the luxury brand’s entry to Switzerland. The address’ newly restored public areas reflect a design concept created around art, time and nature, while in the hallways of the hotel’s atrium, guests can find an exhibition of tapestries. Featuring 74 guestrooms, including 14 suites along with a wide variety of restaurants the renovated address is in tune with Swiss tradition and aims to redefine hospitality in the European city.

Michelin Chef Teams Up with Air France

ir France has welcomed triple Michelin-starred chef Arnaud Lallement until December, whereby he will create two new starters and seven main dishes for La Première designer suite travellers. The new dishes will include the likes of fillet of quail with foie gras; salmon and ricotta tortellini; lamb fillet with baby vegetables and
blue lobster. During this time period, the menu will change in order to cover all three dishes from the chef within the three months of his collaboration with Air France.

Preparation for Costa Smeralda Begins

onstruction work has begun on Costa Smeralda after a steel-cutting ceremony at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland. The new Costa Cruises ship will be the brand’s first ship powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). Costa Smeralda, which will enter service in October 2019, will offer more than 2,600 cabins for a total of about 6,600 passengers. A second sister ship will be delivered by Meyer Turku in 2021. Neil Palomba, president, Costa Cruises, noted that the vessels will be the world's first LNG-powered ships that will be marketed to consumers from multiple countries, including Italy, France, Spain, Germany and Switzerland.
Silversea to Welcome Ultra-Luxury Ship

ilversea Cruises and Fincantieri have announced the signing of a contract worth approximately EUR310 million (USD366 million) for the construction of a new ultra-luxury cruise ship. Set to join the fleet in 2020 and tentatively named Silver Moon, the new addition will be the sister ship of Silver Muse. Silver Moon will maintain the small-ship intimacy and spacious all-suite accommodation with the capacity to accommodate 596 passengers. Among the highlights of the new vessel, is its Green Star 3 Design which is assigned to ships that are designed, built and equipped to prevent air and water pollution.

he sixth edition of ILTM Americas brought together over 600 luxury travel professionals in Riviera Maya, Mexico during September 25 – 28. The invitation only event selected travel buyers from 150 cities across Mexico, Canada and the US. The event had an increase of 14.5 percent year-on-year. “With more Americans in the VIP category now than at any point in US history, the luxury travel market is growing almost a third faster than the overall travel industry. And our evidence shows that new segments of the market are appearing including those seeking transformational travel,” said Simon Mayle, exhibition director, ILTM. He further added, “Helping these new travellers as well as those with more experience - discover new destinations and travel sustainably is a great responsibility.”
