2014-15 was a turbulent year for aviation

H.H. SHEIKH AHMED BIN SAEED AL MAKTOUM Chairman, The Emirates Group

LAURENT VOIVENEL CEO, Hospitality Management Holdings

“2014-15 was a turbulent year for aviation. The fall in oil prices provided cost relief [...], however it did not offset the hit to our profitability caused by significant currency fluctuations, nor the hit to our revenue from operational adjustments in addressing the Ebola outbreak, armed conflicts in several regions, and the 80-day runway upgrading works at Dubai International. Achieving our 27th consecutive year of profit and one of our best performances to date, is testimony to the strength of our brands and business fundamentals.”

The Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence & Spa has been a highly successful property

MARK WILLIS Area vice president, Middle East and sub-Saharan Africa, The Rezidor Hotel Group

“We are thrilled to announce the extension of our partnership with National Hotels Company Bahrain, to continue serving the Kingdom with our unique hospitality through such a landmark property. The Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence & Spa has been a highly successful property in recent times, and we look forward to continuing to develop our relationship and the property to retain its position as a premium location for residents and visitors alike.”

There is a considerable shortage of affordable accommodation

We continue to welcome Arab tourists to our country

“Budget hotels have emerged as the greatest business opportunity across the Middle East and Africa owing to multiple reasons. There is a considerable shortage of affordable accommodation and not enough supply. And as low-cost airlines blossom, costconscious travellers are flooding the market pushing the demand for mid-market lodging. Given the staggering demand we see massive potential for ECOS Hotels that is a ‘no frills’ bed and breakfast brand tying together a unique economical and ecological concept.”

“We are pleased to be launching the Masr Qariba campaign, which highlights that our proximity to Arab countries is not just geographical, but also built on common cultural, historical and social grounds. As is customary for Egypt, we continue to welcome Arab tourists to our country as we maintain our position as a significant hub for culture, art and tourism in the region. We will also continue to create some of the most competitive offers and tourism packages for visitors from across the Middle East.”
