Travelport Gathers Leading Saudi Agents

When and how did you get involved in the tourism industry? I never planned it, everything was a beautiful accident. During my summer vacation while I was still at university studying archaeology and fine arts, I worked at a travel agency. As part of my job, I went with a group to Turkey and there I fell in love with everything; travelling, the mood, hotels, excursions, and above all Istanbul’s Taxim street. Then I decided to work in the tourism industry. What are the most important attributes of a good travel agent/tour operator? I think communication is number one. In our field we are in contact with all kinds of people and if the travel agent does not have high communication skills, sooner or later he or she will fail. In addition to communication, passion for travel, curiosity to explore and good English language skills are very important. What is the most frequently asked question that your company receives from customers? “Are you sure you will offer us high-quality services?” Most of our clients are VIPs and high-end service is what separates us from the rest. What are the must-visits and must-dos in Turkey that no one should miss? Turkey is a very big country and its charm is extraordinary. However, if a traveller does not visit Istanbul, it is like he or she never visited Turkey. Istanbul has a unique charm, maybe because it connects Europe and Asia. Which destination is on your bucket list? Cappadocia, Turkey. I have been there long time ago and am planning to visit again very soon. It is time to discover this fairy tale city from a hot-air balloon this time. 19 SEPTEMBER 2015
