The Concierge Recommends By Marilyn Whittington For activities, I would tell my guest to visit the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway (the World’s largest rotating tram car) to experience the ride, spend time at the observation deck and go for a hike. You will ascend two-and-one-half miles to a pristine wilderness where the weather is typically 30-40 degrees cooler than on the desert floor. Tram cars run at least every 30 minutes and always on the hour. More frequent tram cars are scheduled as demand warrants. At the top, there are two restaurants, a cocktail lounge, observation decks, a small natural history museum, two theaters showing State Park and tram construction videos, a gift shop, Magic Memories for photo viewing, and over 50 miles of hiking trails along with other nature activities. pstramway.com

The Tahquitz Canyon and Indian Canyons are also wonderful for nature walks or hiking. Tahquitz Canyon is one of the most beautiful and culturally sensitive areas of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians Reservation. Located at the entrance to the canyon, the Tahquitz Canyon Visitor Center offers educational and cultural exhibits. The Center offers a display of artifacts, an observation deck, and a theater room for viewing The Legend of Tahquitz Canyon. The Indian Canyons (comprised of Palm Canyon, Andreas Canyon and Murray Canyon) are the ancestral home of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians. These canyons are especially sacred to the Cahuilla people today and are historically important to scientists and nature lovers. The Cahuilla people have thrived there for thousands of years. THE BEST PART OF THE TRIP IS THE DRIVE.

The Ultimate Driving Machine®

The BMW Performance Driving School is the vacation destination that’s an experience like no other. Get behind the wheel of an Ultimate Driving Machine® in a PC Drive or M Track Drive, where both programs are packed with track action. Work on control, handling and recovery on the wet skidpad in a Car Control Clinic. Or go big in a 2-Day M School and develop your acceleration, braking and cornering skills. We’re also a perfect location for company outings and group events. Add the BMW Performance Driving School to your itinerary, and make this year’s ride memorable.
