Israel Then there is the country itself and one of the most striking things about Israel is its sheer diversity. There are sun kissed sandy beaches, delicious food, wild nightlife, wonderful scenery and fascinating historical sites. Despite being only the size of Wales, it has four climate zones and terrain to match. From the lush green Mediterranean hills in the north to parched deserts in the south, a seven-day tour of the country could easily encompass both a view of the majestic snowcapped Mount Hermon and a dip in the salt-saturated waters of the Dead Sea.
Take a step back in time If it’s history you’re after, then Israel and the Holy Land delivers in spades. In addition to two Crusader castles, a Roman theatre
and the fortress at Masada, there are the numerous biblical sites like Bethlehem (in Palestine), Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee or the wonders of Jerusalem. There you can wander through the Old City, visit the Western Wall, the Via Dolorosa and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
A land of natural wonders Nor is Israel short of natural wonders. There are the awesome pillars of salt in the Dead Sea – to say nothing of the uncanny experience of sitting up in its waters reading a newspaper! The following pages provide you with a choice of tours, spa holidays and fly drive options as well as suggestions for doing something different. Once you have decided on your choice please give our friendly and experienced staff a call and book an experience of a lifetime.

Hi Sonia
We’re back after a wonderful tour! All the arrangements, hotels, guides, etc were very good and everything went according to itinerary. For your information, we thought both tour guides – one Israeli (Shuki), one Jordanian (Sam) were very good and would recommend them. If Superstar has any influence in this, do recommend them also. I’m not sure if Superstar arranged this, but the weather was superb! Temperatures varied between 81F to 97F (in the Dead Sea area!) and no rain… (Eat your heart out, England!)

Jerusalem a city of overwhelming emotions Nestled in the mountains on the edge of the desert, Jerusalem is like no other city on earth. It is a thriving modern capital city that lives for the future, but is proud of its past. What other city in the world is the spiritual home to the world’s three major religions?
In a unique sense Jerusalem belongs to the world! Jerusalem welcomes visitors to come and see its many exciting rare treasures, and to walk around the city to experience its biblical and historical sites that most of us have only read about.
Known as the city with a heart of gold, Jerusalem has been the melting pot for civilization for 3000 years. The city has survived invading armies of past civilizations, wars and different rulers and yet has always emerged still stronger to embody the ambitions of nations.
Today modern Jerusalem is a bustling capital where elegant boutiques and shopping centres contrast with traditional bazaars and markets cafes and restaurants. The larger part of the city, including the centre with its shopping and leisure districts, is vibrant, Jewish West Jerusalem. These neighbourhoods are characterised by broad avenues, busy pedestrianised streets and squares, cafes, restaurants and pockets of vibrant nightlife. The Mamilla Broadwalk, leading to the Old City, is Israel’s newest and most beautiful outdoor shopping mall, lined with designer boutiques and cafes. Not to be missed during your visit are the Western Wall also known as the Wailing Wall, Dome of the Rock, the Church of Holy Sepulchre, and the Via Dolorosa. These are just a few of the places to marvel at the religious
18
significance of this city. Walk the steps of Jesus, the ancient Hebrew armies, King Herod, and the Salach Al-Dean. Savour these, and you begin to understand why Jerusalem has become the bedrock of civilization. Other attractions in Jerusalem include the Israel Museum, Yad Vashem, the Houses of Parliament, Mount Zion, the tomb of King David, Mary’s Tomb, many ancient Synagogues, and Mini Israel. At the end of a long day sightseeing wander up to Mount Scopus and enjoy the panoramic view of the golden city at dusk! An experience not to be missed.

Galilee
the land of miracles
At first sight, little has changed in 2000 years. The Galilee remains a picturesque paradise of rich green pastures, mountains and fertile valleys. It’s a haven for wildlife such as water buffalo, foxes and even leopards and rare species of flowers and there are nature reserves which are home to a wide variety of animals and birds.
30
Just under 2 hours from Tel Aviv, the Galilee is the second lowest point on earth and the only freshwater lake at 682 ft below sea level. This is an ideal and unique place to chill out and relax. Even 2000 years after the birth of Jesus Christ, the beauty of Galilee has changed little. As you sit on the shores of the lake, itself teeming with fish, it’s not hard to understand why timeless generations have called this the land of milk and honey. Once here, you’ll never want to leave.
Just over ten years ago, archaeologists discovered an ancient fishing vessel dating back to the time of Christ. Today it is preserved for everyone to see in the Beit Allon museum at Kibbutz Ginosar. And who knows… it could have been used by St. Peter himself. The regional capital Tiberias retains a character and history all of its own and is an ideal touring base offering year-round sailing, water skiing and speedboats on the Sea of Galilee.
Home to the multi-screen Galilee Experience, which brings to life the extraordinary history of the region, Tiberias is renowned for its excellent restaurants and waterfront cafes. Put sparkle back into your life at the rejuvenating hot mineral springs at Hamat Tiberias where you can choose from a huge range of health treatments, mud packs, thermal baths, hydrotherapy, indoor and outdoor mineral pools. Experience the unique atmosphere of the lakeside biblical sites, accessible both by road or pleasure steamer from Tiberias. Wherever you go, you will be walking in the footsteps of history.
GALILEE HOTELS
Whether you choose to take the waters, the scenery or breathe in the history, you can always be sure of a warm Israeli welcome in The Galilee. The capital of Upper Galilee, Safed is situated high up in the mountains with wonderful views from every narrow lane and alleyway. Its natural charm has attracted painters, sculptors and craftsmen and many have workshops and galleries in the artists’ quarter. The crisp mountain air and the mystical setting combine to make this a popular holiday destination.

Jewish Holidays
Look for the Ministry of Tourism Symbol of Quality in shops selling popular gift items such as clothing, leather goods, exclusive jewellery, ceramics and oriental carpets. There are many colourful markets and bazaars which specialise in local arts and crafts.
Restaurants – Whatever you have in mind is readily available in Israel. Restaurants offer traditional Middle Eastern delicacies, Chinese, Indian, Thai, French, Italian and many other cuisines. Fish restaurants are a speciality and vegetarians will be in their element. Most restaurants outside the hotels are non-Kosher and offer the widest selection of food.
Chanukah 28th November – 5th December
Succoth (Tabernacles) 9th October – 17th October 2014
Passover 15th April – 22nd April 2014

Watch out for opening times and note that Jewish shops close on Saturdays, Muslim shops on Fridays and Christian shops on Sundays. All shops are usually open until eight in the evening and even later in some areas.
Travel Options Buses – these are reliable, efficient, comfortable and cheap. They’re ideal for both urban and long-distance travel. Express services run between major towns. Sherut Taxis operate from regular pick-up points or ‘stations’ and are capable of carrying up to seven passengers. There are plenty of metered taxis available at a very reasonable cost, which can be called by telephone or hailed in the street. Guided tours on luxury coaches are probably the most relaxing way to see the sights. Let the driver take the strain while you sit in air conditioned comfort and learn from expert and fully trained guides.
Pubs, bars, discos – Eilat has a highly deserved reputation as a fun resort. There are plenty of bars, speciality English style pubs, piano bars and many discos. Local beer is excellent and prices reasonable.
Yom Ha’atzmaut (Independence Day) 6th May 2014 Shavuot (Pentecost) 4th – 5th June 2014 Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) 25th September – 26th September 2014 Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement)** 4th October 2014
Climate Israel enjoys temperate weather throughout the year. The country is virtually rainless from early spring through late autumn. In winter, rainy spells alternate with many fine, sunny days, and little rain falls in Eilat or Dead Sea regions. Summers are sunny and hot, with higher levels of humidity along the Mediterranean, in the valleys and around the Sea of Galilee. Along with avoiding excessive exposure to the sun, visitors should wear protective head coverings and use sun blocks, even in winter.
** Food restrictions apply, shops are closed, no public transport. The Sabbath and all Jewish Festivals begin the previous evening and run from sunset to sunset. Hotels offer limited hot food on the Sabbath.

Booking
CONDITIONS
YOUR CONTRACT IS WITH ‘Superstar Holidays’ Ltd ATOL 2982 / ABTA V5234 1. Your holiday contract: When you make a booking you guarantee that you have the authority to accept and do accept on behalf of your party the terms of these booking conditions. A contract will exist as soon as we issue our confirmation invoice. This contract is made on the terms of these booking conditions, which are governed by English Law, and the jurisdiction of the English Courts. You may however, choose the law and jurisdiction of Scotland or Northern Ireland if you wish to do so. 2. Your financial protection; We provide full financial protection for our package holidays, by way of our Air Travel Organiser’s Licence number 2982. When you buy an ATOL protected flight or flight inclusive holiday from us you will receive an ATOL Certificate. This lists what is financially protected, where you can get information on what this means for you and who to contact if things go wrong. We will provide you with the services listed on the ATOL Certificate. In some cases, where we aren’t able do so for reasons of insolvency, an alternative ATOL holder may provide you with the services you have bought or a suitable alternative (at no extra cost to you). You agree to accept that in those circumstances the alternative ATOL holder will perform those obligations and you agree to pay any money outstanding to be paid by you under your contract to that alternative ATOL holder. However, you also agree that in some cases it will not be possible to appoint an alternative ATOL holder, in which case you will be entitled to make a claim under the ATOL scheme (or your credit card issuer where applicable).
36
If we are unable to provide the services listed (or a suitable alternative, through an alternative ATOL holder or otherwise) for reasons of insolvency, the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust
may make a payment to (or confer a benefit on) you under the ATOL scheme. You agree that in return for such a payment or benefit you assign absolutely to those Trustees any claims which you have or may have arising out of or relating to the non-provision of the services, including any claim against us, the travel agent (or your credit card issuer where applicable). You also agree that any such claims may be re-assigned to another body, if that other body has paid sums you have claimed under the ATOL scheme. See www.atol.org.uk 3. ABTA We are a Member of ABTA, membership number V5234. We are obliged to maintain a high standard of service to you by ABTA’s Code of Conduct. We can also offer you an arbitration scheme for the resolution of disputes arising out of this contract. The scheme is arranged by ABTA and administered independently. It is a simple and inexpensive method of arbitration on documents alone with restricted liability on you for costs. The upper limit on claims is £5,000 per person and £25,000 per booking form. The scheme doesn’t apply to claims which are solely in respect of physical injury or illness or their consequences. It can however deal with claims which include an element of minor injury or illness subject to a limit of £1,500 on the amount the arbitrator can award per person in respect of this element. Your request for arbitration must be received by ABTA within eighteen months of the date of return from holiday. For injury and illness claims, you can request the ABTA Mediation Procedure and we have the option to agree to mediation. Further information on the Code and ABTA’s assistance in resolving disputes can be found on www.abta.com. 4. Your Holiday Price: We reserve the right to alter the prices of any of the holidays shown in our brochure or website. You will be advised of the current price of the holiday that you wish to book before your contract is confirmed.
a) When you make your booking you must pay a deposit of £100 per person. The balance of the price of your travel arrangements must be paid at least 8 weeks before your departure date. If the deposit and/or balance is not paid in time, we shall cancel your travel arrangements. If the balance is not paid in time we shall retain your deposit. b) For bookings made online full payment will be required for confirmed services only. You will not be required to make payment for services which are “on request” or subject to availably. For such services, we will endeavour to contact you within one working day and advice of availability. c) Payment - We accept payment by cheque, bank transfers, credit and debit cards. Payments by credit card will incur a 1% fee of the value of the transaction. Any cheques returned unpaid will be subject to a £20 administration charge and alternative method of payment must be made. We reserve the right to cancel your holiday if we do not receive an alternative form of payment within 7 days of advising you of the returned cheque. We will not accept cheques for late bookings ie within 4 weeks of departure.
Credit card fraud contingency If you do not supply the correct credit or debit card billing address or cardholder information the issue of your tickets may be delayed and the overall cost may increase. We reserve the right to cancel if your payment is declined or if you have supplied incorrect credit card details.
d) The price of your holiday is subject to surcharges on the following items: government action, currency, overflying charges, airport charges, increases in scheduled airlines and air passenger duties. Changes in the above mean that the price of your travel arrangements may change after you have booked. However there will be no change within 30 days of your departure. We will absorb and you will not be charged for any increase equivalent to 2% of the price of your travel
arrangements, which excludes insurance premiums and any amendment charges. You will be charged for the amount over and above that, plus an administration charge of £1 per person together with an amount to cover agents’ commission. If this means that you have to pay an increase of more than 10% of the price of your travel arrangements, you will have the option of accepting a change to another holiday if we are able to offer one (we will refund any price difference if the alternative is of a lower value), or cancelling and receiving a full refund of all monies paid, except for any amendment charges. Should you decide to cancel you must do so within 14 days from the date on your final invoice. e) All monies you pay to the travel agent are held by him on behalf and for the benefit of the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust at all times. This is subject to the agent’s obligation to pay it to us for so long as we do not fail. If we fail, any money held at that time by the agent, or subsequently accepted from you by him, is and continues to be held on behalf of and for the benefit of the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust without any obligation to pay that money to us. 5. If You Change Your Booking; If after our confirmation invoice has been issued, you wish to change your travel arrangements in any way, for example your chosen departure date or accommodation, we will do our utmost to make these changes but it may not always be possible. Any request for changes to be made must be in writing from the person who made the booking or your travel agent. You will be asked to pay an administration charge of £35 per person and any further cost we incur in making this alteration. You should be aware that these costs could increase the closer to the departure date that changes are made and you should contact us as soon as possible. Note: Certain travel arrangements (e.g. Apex tickets) may not be changeable after a reservation has been made and any alteration request could incur a cancellation charge of up to 100% of that part of the arrangements.
6. If You Cancel Your Holiday: You, or any member of your party, may cancel your travel arrangements at any time. Written notification from the person who made the booking or your travel agent must be received at our offices. Since we incur costs in cancelling your travel arrangements, you will have to pay cancellation charges unless advised otherwise at time of booking by us as follows:

7. We Change or Cancel Your Holiday: As we plan your holiday arrangements many months in advance we may occasionally have to make changes or cancel your booking and we reserve the right to do so at any time. a) Changes: If we make a major change to your holiday, we will inform you or your travel agent as soon as reasonably possible if there is time before your departure. You will have the choice of either accepting the change of arrangements, accepting an offer of alternative travel arrangements of comparable standard from us if available (we will refund any price difference if the alternative is of a lower value), or cancelling your holiday and receiving a full refund of all monies paid.
