The week before Jesper’s Champions Tour debut we were lucky enough to catch up with the original golf fashion icon.

1) HAPPY 50TH BIRTHDAY TO YOU! HOW OLD DO YOU REALLY FEEL?

JP: I feel about 25. I think I tur ned 25 and then just grew older in the

mirror somehow. But I still think I’m about there.

8) IF YOU COULD PLAY IN ONE MORE MAJOR WHICH WOULD IT BE, AND WHY ?

JP: It would of course be the British Open – I had three-four very

close finishes there! I would love to win that one…finally. 2) WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THIS YEAR?

JP: Right now, i’m just really looking forward to getting out there

and playing regularly; hanging out with some of the guys that i have played with in the past at ryder cups and on tour. 3) HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE SPORTLUX?

JP: SportLux is cool. It’s trendy and

sophisticated. It’s one of those lines that you can easily wear on the course and then head to a restaurant or night club and look really good. 4) ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO ANY TOURNAMENTS THIS YEAR?

JP: Since it’s my first year on the Champions Tour – at all these events – I don’t really know what to expect. I haven’t finalised my schedule yet. Each week I’ll be the Rookie out there. So, I’m looking forward to playing each event for the first time and getting to play alongside so many guys I used to play with.

9) WHICH PLAYERS CURRENTLY ON THE CHAMPIONS TOUR WILL YOU BE HANGING WITH THE MOST ?

JP: I mean that’s going to be one of the most

fun parts of joining the Champions Tour – seeing all the guys that I played Ryder Cups and Majors with – anyone from Fred Funk, Tom Layman, Freddie Couples, Miguel Jimenez….so many of them. It’s going to be a lot of fun.

JP: I would say one that you wouldn’t think is actually a drummer in Iron Maiden – Nicko McBrain – he is a great guy and he loves my PUMA clothes….

5) MOST MEMORABLE GOLFING ACHIEVEMENT ?

JP: I would say it’s probably Ryder Cup

– it’s so different from a regular PGA TOUR event – you don’t nor mally see guys hi-fiving, celebrating shots in that way – jumping, screaming…. The crowd is much more hyped – it’s just a lot of fun. 6) IS THERE A SHOT THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO RETAKE, AND WHY ? WAS IT THE MOMENT, THE THOUGHT PROCESS, MAYBE THE CLUB ?, OR A BAD YARDAGE FROM YOUR CADDIE !

11) WHICH GUYS ON THE PGA TOUR DO YOU ADMIRE FOR STYLE ? DO YOU THINK GOLF HAS LOST INDIVIDUAL PERSONALITY ?

JP: I think Rickie is doing what I did when I played on the PGA TOUR

as a youngster. He’s stylish and he really puts some character and colour into the game – which I think it’s very important. It’s more rare to see that these days – so Rickie is doing a great job keeping that up.

JP: Actually no. I’m happy with my past. Even the 5-irons I missed. 12) FLIPPED BRIM CAP OR FEDORA? 7) WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE OUTFIT YOU HAVE EVER WORN ON TOUR?

JP: I’ve had so many good ones over the years – I’ve had a few that I

have wor n that I felt really good so it helped me play better….I know if you dress well you’re going to play well. What is it that PUMA says – Look Better. Feel Better. Play Better. It’s so true.
