THIS PROJECT WAS THE CONTINUATION OF THE PLANNING|PROGRAMMING CONCEPT THAT FOCUSED ON A SINGLE ARCHITECTURE THAT COULD TRANSFORM THE CITY OF TOWNSEND.

THE DICHOTOMY OF NATURE AND INDUSTRIAL PROGRESS IS EXPLORED AND CONTRASTED THROUGH LANDSCAPING AND DETERMINES THE FORM OF THIS 100 YEAR EXPERIMENT.

DORMITORY FOR 100
GREENSPACE IS PRESERVED AND MULTIPLIED BY CREATING AN ARRAY OF FLOATING HOUSING UNITS THAT EXTEND THE EXISTING QUAD. PUBLIC, PRIVATE, AND SEMIPRIVATE OUTDOOR AREAS OVERLAP AND WEAVE TOGETHER TO ENCOURAGE INTERACTION AND PRESERVE PRIVACY. VIEWS FROM EXISTING BUILDINGS ARE PRESERVED WHILE CARS DRIVE UNDER THIS PUBLIC MONUMENT LOOMING OVER THE ROAD AND REACHING OUT TO THE RIVER AND CAPITAL BEYOND.

GREEN OAK CABIN
THE OBJECTIVE HERE WAS TO TAKE AN EXISTING CABIN DESIGN USING GREEN OAK CONSTRUCTION, MODIFY IT FOR ADDITIONAL PROGRAM, AND CREATE DRAWINGS AT FINER DETAIL. WE DEVELOPED A HYBRID GREEN OAK AND DRIED TIMBER CONSTRUCTION TO REDUCE THE WARPING OF THE GREEN OAK DURING THE FIRST 8 YEARS AFTER CONSTRUCTION.

September 2013 – current (part time) I help students and faculty process large format prints and troubleshoot other tech issues in the UTK Digital Print Center. We deal with Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, and AutoCAD problems, specifically in regards to file integrity, flattening images, and other exporting issues that arrise.
