diagrams The building is set up pretty straight-forward for the exhibition. One of the most intriguing aspects is the stage area within the exhibition area. While it is rather unique, it makes sense to be a good solution to encourage social interaction.

campbells soup exhibit london, united kingdom

| 2015 | halcyon gallery

The Campbell’s Soup Exhibit was a temporary piece for a local small gallery in London, England. It houses some of Andy Warhol’s most famous work, and did so in quite and aesthetically pleasing way.

simple gallery layout. small space allows for straight-forward approach.

wall works in increasing thirds with a featured product, complimented by a narrative and small bit of information.

diagrams The gallery is a very small space, but the overall color scheme and composition really make the exhibition a great success. Advertising on the exterior is very clear and really encourages passerbys and locals to stop in for a quick viewing.

the new broad museum los angeles, california

| 2015 | diller scofidio + renfro

The New Broad Museum just opened recently in downtown Los Angeles as a way to help improve the image of its art scene. The structure and interior of the building really make it stand out in a crowd.

orary museums string repetition healps ground the building. also adds a sense of dynamacity.

the galleries within the museum allow the user plenty of chances to interact with the building’s structure.

open galleries allow flexibility between temporary art exhibitions. also does a great job at brightening the space.

diagrams The gallery is rather simple with a curved lobby area leading up to a very open and pleasantly bright main gallery. Movable walls allow the viewer to interact with the structure and move freely throughout the galleries.

the broad museum msu east lansing, michigan

| 2012 | zaha hadid architects

The Broad Museum on the MSU Campus was meant to be used as a way to help bridge the public and students on campus. The dynamic angles and expressions follow main paths on campus, directing students towards the community.

orary museums varying angles of stainless steel louvres make for a very eye-catching facade.

the angles from the outside translate inside to keep the building dynamic. the eye is encouraged to explore every angle of the building within the person’s visit.

angled walls add motion to gallery spaces without taking away from the art.

diagrams Being designed by Zaha Hadid architects, it is no surprise that the building has a look of constant motion. The many angles and tilted walls add to the overall dynamics of the building without taking away from the artwork’s meaning.

national art museum china beijing, china

| 2010 | conceptual | unstudio

This set of renderings is a conceptual design model created by UNStudio for a competition in 2010. While the building is not being built, it should great transitions from public to private spaces.

orary museums the three unique buildings work together to create one amazing spatial experience. the plaza area allows for multiple levels of public social interaction.

gallery

social

the large open spaces within the museum allow for multiple areas to gather and socialize.

while other gallery spaces are oriented toward the social aspect, some are left to a more intimate approach.

diagrams Social interaction is one of the main focal points of this project. The large, open spaces and grand center atrium space helps encourage this kind of action. Some of the galleries, however, are given a chance to become an intimate and calming space.
