While the Tribe was unable to pull out a victory, four players put forth career-high point efforts over the weekend. Chaniqwa Sydney Wagner was on fire for the Gilliam (12) and Rebekah Frisby-Smith (10) had their best offensive performances in Green and Gold on Tribe dropping 31 points last Sunday at Saturday, and Sydney Wagner (31) and Bailey Eichner (12) lit up the scoreboard Sunday. Delaware. The 31 is good for 11th-most by a WM player since 1975 and the most by a - Junior Sydney Wagner has been a scoring machine for the Tribe, dropping at least 20 points in five of her last seven outings. The guard is averaging 22.8 points per game over that span and posted a career-high Tribe player since 1/31/20. 29 points in a William & Mary win over Norfolk State on 12/20/20. She was named CAA Player of the Week Under head coach Ed Swanson, the on December 21. Tribe has limited an opponent to - Thanks to its 3-2 mark, the Tribe posted a winning nonconference record for the seventh-straight season less than 50 points on 27 occasions, under head coach Ed Swanson. During that stretch, W&M is 53-18 (.746) in nonconference play. inclduing each of the last two games. - Wagner has been deadly from deep for Coach Swanson’s team. The junior leads the CAA with 33 threeW&M is 26-1 in those contets. point baskets and is shooting nearly 40% from behind the arc. In Sunday’s 31-point explosion, Wagner shot 7-14 from three-point range. The seven made threes in a single game rank second in WM history. Bailey Eichner put up a career-high 12 - With 13 assists over the Tribe’s last four games, Nyla Pollard pushed herself into the WM all-time top-15 points on Sunday. The senior also ranks with 252 career dimes. Pollard ranks sixth in the CAA in assist to turnover ratio at 1.5 and fourth in total in the top ten in the CAA in rebounds, assists with 29. blocks, and defensive rebounds. - Bailey Eichner put up a career-high 12 points Sunday but the senior has got it done all year on the boards. Eichner ranks seventh in the league with 7.4 rebounds per game and is third with 5.6 defensive rebounds Wagner’s 31 points were highlighted by per contest. Eichner is also ranked ninth in the CAA averaging just under one block per game. a 7-14 performance from the three-point line. Wagner’s seven threes are tied for - A key to the Tribe’s success has been the effort on the defensive end of the floor. Coach Swanson’s team 2nd best in school history in a single ranks third in the conference in scoring defense allowing just 63.0 points per game. The Green and Gold have produced extrordinary defense from the three-point line. The Tribe ranks first among all CAA teams game. and fifth nationally holding teams to 21.6% from behind the arc (25-116).

The Tribe shot 81% as a team from the free-throw line last Sunday at Delaware. The Green and Gold went 21-26 from the stripe, Wagner and Eichner each had six made free-throws.

The Tribe continued to excel in the classroom achieving a team GPA of 3.63 for the fall semester. In total, nine student-athletes had semester GPA of 3.5 or better, including four with a 4.0.

For the 16th consecutive year, William & Mary Atheltics led all public schools in the Federal Graduation Rate (86%), the NCAA release in its annual reports.

- The Tribe held two opponents this season to less than 50 points. Under head coach Ed Swanson, the Tribe has held opponents to less than 50 points in 27 games and are 26-1 in those contests. W&M has also held its foes to either zero or one 3-pointer in a game on 21 occasions, including one at Mason. - The Tribe knocked down a season-high 10 3-pointers in the victory over Navy. W&M ranks first in the CAA with 204 triples on the year. It marked the 15th time under head coach Ed Swanson that W&M made double-digit 3-pointers in a game, and the Tribe improved to 11-4 in those contests. - After leading the Tribe with 5.3 rebounds per game last season, senior Bailey Eichner has picked up right where she left off. She has two double-digit rebounding games this season with a career-high 14 rebounds at ODU and 10 at George Mason. For the second-straight year, Eichner ranks among the CAA leaders in rebounding (fourth at 8.4), blocks (fifth at 1.0) and defensive rebounds (second at 6.3).

- Sydney Wagner and Nyla Pollard have been staples in the Tribe’s lineup and on the floor. Wagner ranks second among all CAA players with 37.7 minutes played per game while Pollard ranks fourth in the league with 34.9 minutes per contest. The pair also lead the Tribe in points (Wagner- 20.9 ppg, Pollard- 9.1 ppg) and assists (Pollard- 29, Wagner 21). - W&M head coach Ed Swanson enjoyed a noteworthy 2019-20 season individually. He was named the CAA Co-Coach of the Year following the Tribe’s historic season. Personally, Swanson won his 500th career game on Nov. 26, became just the third coach in W&M history win 100 games with the Tribe on Jan. 12, and was inducted into the Northeast Conference Hall of Fame in January.

- As a team, the Tribe was picked eighth in the preseason standings by vote of the league coaches. Last season, W&M was picked seventh in the preseason before finishing a program-best third in the final league standings. The Tribe posted the best season in school history in 2019-20 with program records in wins (21), CAA wins (12) and road wins (11). With a final RPI of 104, W&M was on the verge of earning a postseason berth to, at least, the WNIT for the first time in the program’s history before COVID-19 ended the season. - W&M will be down two scholarship players in 2020-21 as senior Libby Underwood and junior Eva Hodgson elected to opt out due to COVID-19 concerns. Underwood appeared in 52 career games, while Hodgson was an All-CAA First Team performer in 2019-20, averaging 20.7 points per game.

W&M closed as much as a 15-point first-half deficit to six, 44-38, with 4:32 left in the third quarter, but ODU answered with a 15-5 run and limited W&M to 27% shooting. Bailey Eichner had a career-high 14 rebounds.

The Tribe closed a 22-point deficit to 12, 62-50, thanks to a 13-3 run to start the fourth quarter, but UR shot 49.1% to hold off W&M. Nyla Pollard led W&M with 14 points, six rebounds and five steals.

Sydney Wagner scored 23 points to lead the Tribe to its first win of the season. W&M used a 15-2 run spanning the end of the 1st quarter and start of the 2nd and never trailed.

Dec. 16 at George Mason

W&M scored the gameâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s opening nine points and never trailed in limiting Mason to just 43 points and 27.8 percent shooting, including 1-of-16 from beyond the arc. Sydeny Wagner scored a career-high 27 points.

The Tribe used 9-0 run to end the third quarter and start the fourth to extended its lead to double figures at NSU. Sydney Wagner erupted for a career-high 29 points.
