WEEKLY HONORS PLAYER OF THE WEEK RYAN ALLEN | Delaware

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK REYNE SMITH | Charleston

Allen scored a career-high 35 points to lift Delaware to an 85-82 overtime win over La Salle in Wednesday’s Blue Hen home opener. The guard from Maryland was 11-of-17 from the field, knocked down five threes, and added four rebounds and two steals in 43 minutes. Allen reached 1,500 points for his career in the win.

Smith goes back-to-back as Rookie of the Week to begin his collegiate career, as he topped his opening week performance with a 19-point showing against No. 18 North Carolina at TD Arena. The guard from Australia led the Cougars in scoring on a night he went 5-of-11 from three while adding two rebounds, a steal, and an assist.

NEWS AND NOTES WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS IS BROADCAST ON NATIONAL TV Towson is the lone CAA team in action Friday with with a game in Las Vegas against New Mexico (9 p.m., FS2). The Tigers fell to San Francisco in the first day of the event Thursday. Towson and San Francisco met near the roulette tables for the second year in a row on Thanksgiving, as the Tigers and Dons squared off at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut last season in the Bubbleville multi-team event. MEET ME TONIGHT IN ATLANTIC CITY The CAA is 6-2 against the Atlantic 10 this season with wins by five different CAA teams: Delaware has recorded two, while Drexel, Hofstra, James Madison, and Northeastern each have one. There will be six more meetings between the leagues in December, with three being Northeastern home games (UMass, Davidson, St. Bonaventure). The schedule also includes William & Mary visiting Davidson, Drexel heading over to La Salle, and Charleston facing Rhode Island on December 19 at the Entertainment and Sports Arena, home to the 2022 CAA Championship. BOARD GAMES Towson’s Cameron Holden recorded a line of 20 points, 19 rebounds, and eight assists in the Tigers’ Tuesday victory over Penn, good for the first performance of 20/19/8 by a Division I player since Cleveland State’s Norris Cole in 2011. Down in the Bahamas, Drexel’s James Butler collected 17 points and 16 rebounds in a double-digit win over Charlotte.
