Thursday, 9 February 2012 Send a homemade Valentine to someone who has always been an inspiration. This Valentine’s send a homemade Valentine, a heartfelt letter, or something sweet that you have crafted to someone who has really inspired you and tell them how important they are in your life. This will be sure to spread the love. Send flowers or candy to a single friend of yours. Write on the card the Top 10 best things about having them as a friend. Even when you’re single, you still have your friends. So, make them feel special and loved! Plan a special evening for your parents. Take your parents out for a lovely dinner, or cook some delectable delicacies for your whole family. After all, even if you’re single, a family’s love is really special! Have a singles party. Invite all of your best friends or your happening gang, dress up or dress down. Serve dinner and drinks. Toast to your single status and embrace it. Share stories about bad relationships from your past and have a good laugh. Go to a public place with a dozen roses. Pass them out to strangers who look stressed or sad, and wish them “Happy Valentine’s Day.” Who knows, you might even make a new friend amongst the strangers you meet! Bake some heart-shaped cookies or pink frosted cupcakes. Bring them to work and pass them out to co-workers and friends. I bet everyone will enjoy this sweet treat. Have a romantic evening for your own self. Prepare a lovely dinner, one that is your favourite. Take a candlelit bubble bath, or pamper yourself with an exotic spa. Do something that you have been longing to do. It can be anything no matter how stupid or crazy it seems. Sometimes loving yourself and doing things you enjoy most are just what you need for a mini pick-me-up. Have a romance movie marathon. Watch all the die-hard romantics with some of your best single friends or siblings. I mean, if you were in a relationship, would your partner actually want to watch all of your sappy favourites? Probably not! The message is to ‘Love,’ and celebrate the feeling of ‘Love’. So make sure to spread it with every single soul who holds a special place in your life and the people who surround you, regardless of your relationship status. And don’t worry, there’s someone out there for everyone. If you haven’t found them yet, it will just make it all the more special when you do. Happy Valentine’s Day!

being “Single” When we say Valentine’s Day, it sure has to be images of romantic evenings, candle lit dinners, roses, chocolates, and being with that special someone. But how could you possibly be expected to enjoy this holiday when you are single? Well, it may not be all hearts and kisses, but you can still spread the message of Valentine’s Day: Love. Here are some ideas to have the happiest Valentine’s Day ever, even though you may not be in a relationship: Nothing can be more moving than the desire to connect across differences, to be a community, to make a better world, to embrace each other. This desire is what lies behind those messy camps, those raucous demonstrations, those cardboard signs and long conversations. So on this Valentine’s let this desire come out in its true form by taking an initiative to dedicate this special day to be a part of a group, an organisation, an institution that work together to achieve something unprecedented- to create a beloved community that encircles the globe. There’s no better way to send a ‘Love message’ this Valentine’s Day than with clothes. Yes, spread the message of love by raising funds to buy new clothes for the poor and needy. The mission is to change the world to a better place where there is love, care and togetherness. So just go out and do it with pure heart, good energy and lots of love. The message is simply: love yourself this Valentine’s Day and be your own Valentine. Spreading the message to bring that sense of identity to young people fighting with HIV is in itself a great feeling! The initiative can be a part of the broader strategy that sees self-esteem and self-worth as necessary building blocks for creativity. It also connects young people who are able to navigate the social and structural factors that put them at risk of HIV infection. This

is indeed a wonderful way a way to celebrate their uniqueness and recognise their worth this Valentine’s Day. Give the gift of life. Through any random adopt-a-farm animal project, you can fill a loved one’s heart with joy, spread the message of compassion for all living creatures, and help farm animals all at the same time! This lovely gesture not only provides food and shelter for a needy farm animal, it creates a lasting bond between the adopter and the animal.

Celebrate Love Love is in the air as Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. It’s that one night of the year when every woman wants to bring a bit of ‘red carpet magic’ to her relationship. So no matter what, she wants to look her best. And as a ‘ritual,’ she starts screening her wardrobe, going through each microscopic detail of the drawers, cataloguing the accessories, and polishing her sexy stilettos. Sigh! All tired and irritated, and frustrated she lands up with this perfect idea of shopping (ah! how could she let the chance go?). She might still not know what to get, but she is confident about what to wear- ‘Red- the colour of love!’ From ancient rituals to the red paper lace hearts on Valentines, red has been tied to carnal passions and romance in many cultures over the course of history. Thus, no other colour can overpower red which is the colour for this season. While living up to the expectation of our loved ones, making sure we do it right, we ignore the fact that ‘nothing can buy love.’ Love, a feeling so intense and pure; a feeling of ‘connectedness.’ The day you are touched by this feeling believe me it doesn’t matter what you wear and how you look. Well, now that here’s a special day to celebrate this feeling, Bloom helps you pick the perfect romantic spot, indulge in romantic ideas, learn the chemistry and above all feel the power of love amidst the digital world!
