Llovable Llamas & Quilt Barn Art

Our first stop will be at the Carlson’s Llovable Llama Farm in rural Carver County. Their mission is to raise gentle, friendly llamas. They have the largest llama 4H Program in the County and students will be on hand to demonstrate how these unique animals are good with both adults and kids. Since they are highly alert and curious, they make excellent guards for sheep and other pasture animals. You will see the baby llamas and hear about individual adults. They have yarn for sale and other items made from llama fiber. Next, we will have a local guide narrate a riding tour of the Carver County Quilt Barns. The first Quilt Barn is at Parley Lake Vineyards & Deardorff Orchards. See this open-air-gallery of Folk art and hear how local farms have come to present colorful pieces and what they represent. It is a new and creative way to showcase larger-than-life replicas of quilt blocks on barns throughout the county. Enjoy beautiful countryside and the agricultural icons in their new role as public art. We will arrive at Lola’s Lakehouse Restaurant for lunch at 1:15 pm. We arrive at Skyrock Farms near Hamel. It is located in the beautiful countryside with rolling hills, maple trees and grazing horses. It is a premier horse hunter-jumper training facility. You will be welcomed into the Skyrock Carousel building by your host, Bill Nun. He will give you an informative and historical look at the antique dance organs. These beautifully restored musical marvels play the happiest music on earth. Learn about the restoration process of gold leafing, and how one-hundred-year-old art is preserved. The intricate pipes are made and voiced to replicate the sounds of the piccolo, flute, violin, saxophone, and trombone. See a carousel horse collection and learn why the men who carved the ornate figures have a place in history. At 11:30 a.m. we will have a hearty pot roast home cooked meal prepared Minnesota style which includes beverage and dessert. Next we will continue the experience and conversation as you watch a horse jumping program. See beautiful animals and talented riders. They will demonstrate how Skyrock Riding Academy teaches horsemanship. They develop the horse’s natural athletic ability and train riders of all ages. The goal is to achieve compassionate, knowledgeable riders with effective teachers and relaxed horses. You will enjoy this demonstration. The fun-loving monks of Saint Bernard’s monastery are in a jam. Abbott Costello and his four beleaguered brethren have just learned that a real-estate developer is about to turn their monastery into a gambling hall called Bernie’s Casino Royale. Unless the merry Men in Brown can raise $250,000 by midnight, they are done for. Luckily, the Brothers have a divine plan. They have rented religious radio station WGOD for the night and are hosting a radiothon fundraiser with plenty of singing, dancing and vaudeville routines. Abbot Costello, Brother Lee Love, Brother Brooks, Brother Clarence and Brother Forte all take turns strutting their stuff, and the pledged donations from the listeners started streaming in. But, unbeknownst to the other four, one of the monks is really a devil in disguise and is out to sabotage their plan. Good and evil race to beat a midnight deadline in this hilarious hit musical.
