Armistice Day Blizzard The Armistice Day Blizzard on November 11, 1940, as forecast in the Minneapolis Morning Tribune gave barely a hint of what was to come that day: “Cloudy, occasional snow, and colder, much colder.” Many duck hunters were trapped in remote bottom land along the Mississippi when the blizzard hit. In the end, forty-nine (49) people died in the Armistice Day blizzard. This seminar is presented by Dan Hartman, who had taught college level classes throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin, prior to his retirement. The ninety minute (one mile) guided tour will include VIP suites, press box, locker room and art collection. After the tour we will have lunch at the ever popular Old Spaghetti Factory in downtown Minneapolis. Reminder: put on your most comfortable walking shoes. Be sure to make your meal choice at the time of registration: 1) Our Famous Baked Lasagna, 2) Fettuccine Alfredo or 3) Chicken Marsala.

Holiday Lights Tour Board a motorcoach with us and a local tour guide and travel through St. Paul, bathed in Christmas lights. View Rice Park surrounded by the Saint Paul Hotel, Landmark Center, Ordway and the Downtown Library. The entire block is draped in twinkling lights and features St. Paul’s official Christmas tree. See Mears Park and drive along Summit Avenue for subtle views of a quiet neighborhood of mansions. Impressive displays are located throughout the City of St. Paul. Neighborhoods have private homes aglow to celebrate the season. The owners have gone out of their way to spread holiday cheer. Thursday, Dec 15 Register by Thurs., Nov. 17 Depart TPAC at 5:45 pm / Return at 9:15 pm #6936-F16 - $45 includes transportation and tour

Gangster Tour: Experience St Paul in the Roaring 20s & 30s We will begin our trip by touring the Wabasha Street Caves, where our local gangsters loved to hide out. A costumed gangster tour guide will begin our tour through the streets of St. Paul during its roaring hoodlum heyday on an exploration of crooks, crime and corruption. See sites where the infamous lived, socialized, committed crimes and where many were brought to justice. Drive past the Landmark Center where some of the FBI's most notorious criminals were tried including Ma Barker and her five sons. We will stop for lunch at the Tavern on Grand; please choose your meal when registering: Fried Walleye Basket or Grilled Chicken Breast Basket. Both meals include fries, coleslaw and beverage. We will end our trip with a drive-by through St. Paul’s Famous Winter carnival. Dean Johnson, Vocalist/Pianist/Entertainer Dean Johnson enjoys entertaining, and gathering the fascinating stories of the adults he meets along the way. Dean loves how well the popular songs collectively known as the Great American Songbook celebrate the good things people of a generation share in common. Dean’s favorite childhood musical memory is winning the Junior Division of the 1982 Minnesota State Fair Amateur Talent Contest, and the next day having the honor of appearing on the local KSTP Television station.
