Dear Pastor Wilson, Pastor Joseph and Pastor Beatrice, Thank you for your time and effort in planning the Israel Pilgrimage 2013. I benefitted a lot from this fruitful trip! I enjoyed the trip. The food, the shopping, the mud spa and most importantly, being able to experience the love and presence of God during my time alone with Him each morning as well as at the places we journeyed through. It was nice getting to know you better at all the sharing sessions you had with us. Thank you all for a wonderful time of fellowship! God bless,

Do you have someone to thank?
Dear Pastors and Fellow Trinitarians, Some time ago, I requested for prayer for my 4-year-old grand-daughter, Audrey. She suffered from eczema around the mouth area. After praying for several months, pressing in and believing in God’s healing, she is completely healed! Thank you for all your prayers! Yours faithfully,
Send your appreciation notes to connect@trinity.org.sg.

Dear Trinitarians, God is positioning Trinity to carry out His Kingdom Assignments! With 2014 in full swing, have you been on target? We can be very busy completing all our tasks at hand and still be off the mark that God has set for us. The apostle Paul says in Philippians 3:13-14, One thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Many times, the act of forgetting connotes a certain sense of irresponsibility. However, when Paul spoke – in Philippians – about forgetting what is behind, he was not encouraging a sense of irresponsibility but a sense
of resolution. He meant that we ought to leave what is past in the past, resolve it and move on. Straining forward involves concentration and focus. Many times, we are so consumed in our ministries and daily routines that we fail to move beyond that which is familiar to us. For us to experience deeper encounters, fresh revelations and greater levels of breakthroughs, we need to move beyond our comfort zones. We cannot be complacent with our current states and achievements with Him. We need to constantly strain forward and pursue a deeper relationship with Him. The extended season we had in 2013 of encountering God should have done major heart surgery in our lives to desire Him and His plans.
The apostle Paul says in Philippians 3:13-14, One thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
The Bible tells us in Daniel 11:32 that they who know their God will do great exploits. God is calling us into a year of acceleration with 2014 and He has great assignments for those who know Him and desire to live for Him. Paul was very clear what his mark or goal for God was. We also need to be clear of our goal and align ourselves to His Kingdom purposes. As you read the Watchnight Message (p26-33) again, I pray that God will instill in you a clear understanding of His assignment in your life. Also, read about how three Trinitarians aligned themselves with God and had His blessings showered upon their lives (pg34-39). I believe that as we align ourselves with His Kingdom purposes, His heart and His burdens will come upon us. There are many ways we can align ourselves to God’s global mandate. You can pray, give and go for Missions. Read about our Missions work (p50-87) and see how our alignment with His assignment makes all the difference in the lives of churches and countries. In addition, I’d like to welcome all our delegates that have come to join us for Pastors’ Conference 2014. Friends, as we approach Missions Convention 2014, may we see the needs of the World, and be gripped with a deep sense of mission and call to align and do our part. Let us align ourselves for His assignments!

Throughout history, the Christmas story has been repeated many times. Over Dec 20-24, 2013, an audience of 12,663 was presented with three different perspectives of the Christmas story in Once Upon a Star. Cliff Lee shares the highlights of the event that saw 221 decisions for Christ.
“My favorite part of the presentation was the shadow dance. Full stars for the presentation!” – Jun Qiang, business development consultant “The silhouette performance was wonderful! The presentation really encouraged me to realize that no matter what situations we are going through, He will see us through it as long as we trust in Him!” – Cheryl, designer “I’ve seen many Christmas productions before. But this was different.” – Lynette, wildlife activist 18
Shepherd’s perspective: The shepherds were a group of daydreamers. They longed for something more than the mundane life of a shepherd. They longed for an encounter. When God sent angels to them, He assured them that though they were little in the eyes of the world, they mattered in His eyes. “Just like the shepherds, I realized that I’m important to Him. I gave my life to Christ.” – Criste, domestic helper “It was The inn-keeper’s perspective: my first time in Trinity. The The inn-keeper and his wife were business people. They ultimately obeyed God and were blessed to be part of a history so divine. They were blessed to be history-makers. “Joseph and Mary’s journey really encouraged me. It reminded me that God can use ordinary and imperfect people like us. Though life can be full of uncertainty, all we have to do is be obedient to the assignments He has tasked us with.” – Amenda, allied educator “I identified with Joseph’s step of faith. Now, though there is a job situation in my life, I re-dedicate my life to Jesus and trust that He will see me through.” – Royston 19

hat is Christmas? What does it have in store for us?
Is it just a season of giving? A season where melodious carols fill the air? On both days of Christmas with the Stars, streams of children poured into the Summit and filled the place with incessant chatters of excitement to celebrate Christmas with their favorite movie stars: Smarty Pants the Zebra, Never Full Panda and Mino the Minion. It was a time of fun, laughter and games for the children.
For many weeks, Trinity’s children went all out to invite and pray for their friends to attend Christmas with the Stars on Dec 21 and 24, 2013. June Teh reports on this star-studded event that saw 283 First Time Visitors and a total of 268 decisions made for the Lord. 20
With the different contests, you could hear distinct cheering from the supporters of each character, but it was obvious that Never Full Panda was the hot favorite of the three. The children soon got their turn to participate in the action with a SNOWBALL FIGHT! It was quite a sight to behold as flurries of paper balls flew in all directions.
In the midst of all that was going on, I wondered what Christmas meant to these children? When the true meaning of Christmas was shared, I was pleasantly surprised to hear the million dollar question of “Is Christmas a time for having fun, eating and receiving presents?” being answered with a resounding ‘No…’!
“I love the interesting candies, imprinted with the zebra, panda and minion designs that we received as presents!” - Rayna, 7
“I learnt through the event that Christmas is not just a season of fun, eating and receiving presents. It is a time of sharing, caring and celebrating the birth of Jesus.” - Daniel, 6
Amid the games and fun, the children had caught on to the true meaning of Christmas – a time to remember what God has done for us and His unconditional love. And 268 children gave their lives to Jesus! What an amazing moment to witness!
“The total attendance showed an approximate ratio of 1 FTV to every 2 DL children. This was a strong reminder that God wants to work in the lives of our children. As long as we are willing to avail ourselves as God’s vessels, God will work in our lives. Regardless of our age.” - Wei En, committee member
“All our efforts were worthwhile when I saw all the children, especially the First Time Visitors, understand God’s love for them. It was a priceless moment to see the joy on their faces as they had fun. Three children came to the presentation through the SALTing outreach of the recent Children’s Camp. What a faith booster it was when the children and their parents accepted Christ into their lives!” Pastor Susie, Children’s Ministry staff 21

Trinity’s
touchstones in December!
Over its four decades of history and traditions, Trinity Christian Centre has formed its own touchstones. At the end of the year, we celebrated Family Christmas, Family Communion and Watchnight service. Ivan Koh explores the significance of these events.
O
Family Christmas n Dec 25 each year, Trinitarians come in droves to Trinity@Paya Lebar and Trinity@Adam to celebrate Christmas as a family.
Families gathered together to worship God and hear the Word. Senior Pastor Dominic Yeo unveiled the purpose and true meaning of Christmas. To the world, Christmas is a season for feasting, parties and gifts. However, we are to remember that Christmas 22
is more than that. Christmas – the coming of Christ – brought hope, joy and the gift of salvation to this earth and because of it, we realize our purpose and destiny to leave an impact on this world.
“We look forward to attending Family Christmas as we find it very meaningful to worship and experience God’s Word together.” – Theodore and Ginny, South district
“Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Christ in joyous festivities. However, I learnt from the sermon that it is important for us to move beyond being indifferent to touch more lives before God returns!” – Caleb, IGNYTE
“I came prepared to serve my Ministry Expression but as I served, I received a deeper revelation of the purpose of Christmas – to have faith and not miss out on the plan that God has for us.” – Michael, Creative Ministries
Family Communion
O
n Dec 29 and 31, thousands of Trinitarians came with their families and carecells to partake in communion as part of an act of reflection on the year past and a dedication to God for the year ahead. It was incredible unity in action as families and carecells shared and prayed together. As Trinitarians partook in the emblems of communion, a pastor prayed over them and released prophetic words that blessed and indelibly assured families and groups of God’s great plans for each and every individual.
“It was great seeing groups come together to partake of communion while reflecting on 2013 and seeking His will for 2014. It’s been my seventh year participating in the Family Communion and it still holds a special meaning for me.” – Adeline, South district “Family communion is special because we not only individually partake in the emblems, but we also unite as a body of Christ – whether as a family or as a carecell – to celebrate communion together. Also, the prophetic
word released by the pastor speaks to us individually and corporately. Though it might be the first time some of us are partaking in Family Communion, we look forward to doing it every year in future!” – Fanny, Lynn and Daisy, East district “Family communion is an important touchstone for us as a carecell and family, as it’s a time where we can reflect on His blessings and goodness in the past year.” – Winston Wee, West district 23

he most explosive and dynamic service of the year took place on the last day of 2013. Trinitarians packed the sanctuary and filled up the chapel as they closed the year worshipping God in song and sharing powerful life-changing testimonies that reflected God’s grace, favor, healing and blessings over the past year. Notably, a powerful testimony was shared by couple, Eng Leong and Angeline about God’s divine timing and intervention that saw their

family through a car accident in Perth, Australia. Senior Pastor Dominic Yeo released the prophetic word for the church from Matthew 6 to usher in 2014. His message revolved around the theme, Kingdom Alignment for God’s Assignment. He rallied us to align our wills on earth with God’s will in heaven to bring forth the execution of God’s assignment on earth. (Read the prophetic word for the New Year on p26-33) As we counted down into
2014, Resident Apostle Pastor Naomi Dowdy prayed for the alignment of the church to His plans and opened the New Year by ushering in God’s will to be done on earth.
“After Watchnight, we feel much more prepared to embrace the things that God has in store for us in 2014.” – Kimberly and Jamine, West district
“The atmosphere during Watchnight Service was awesome! It was a divine experience for me as I sought God’s plan for my life and Pastor Dominic revealed – through the message – about the direction and steps I needed to take.” – Anne, East District
“Pastor Dominic’s message was very apt in telling us to align ourselves with God to complete the assignments He has for us. The message assured me of the favor and blessings that God has in store for us as we dedicate and position ourselves to be ready for His will.” – Ann, North district 25

Don’t miss out embarking on God’s adventures in your life! Align yourself so that you fulfill God’s assignment for your life. By Pastor Dominic Yeo

ENVISION
> wATCHNIGHT MESSAGE 2013
G
od has an assignment for you. One thing we need to know for certain is that God has an assignment for each and every one of us. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD. His Kingdom assignments are two-fold: the first is responsibilities He bequeaths us as His children, and the second is specific assignments to every individual to fulfill our unique plans He has mapped out for our lives. In order to complete these assignments, we have to align ourselves with Him.
Alignment also means to be put in order so that there can be function. Misalignment means you cannot function and are unable to perform. It’s just like a car.
What is Alignment?
When the wheels and steering mechanisms of a car are not aligned, your car will drift as soon as you release your steering wheel even if you are driving straight on a straight road. If you keep driving a car that is misaligned, your tires will wear out very quickly. The car will also consume more petrol because it is not functioning at its optimum.
In the corporate world we say, “Let’s all be aligned on the
Similarly, if an airplane’s mechanisms were misaligned, it would be far more dangerous to fly it than driving a car that’s misaligned.
To align means to ensure that something is put in a straight line.
28
same page”, which means to come into agreement and cooperate in unity.
Alignment is very important for us to function effectively and efficiently. But the converse has greater consequences. Misalignment can cause us not to be able to function properly. In order to step into our fulfillment, we need to align ourselves with God’s heart and His Kingdom purposes. When we come into Kingdom alignment, then great things can begin to happen in our lives.
Alignment Brings God’s Assignments Matthew 6:9-10 says: This, then, is how you should pray: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
Jesus was not only teaching the disciples how to pray, but He was helping them understand that they needed to come into alignment with God’s will first. That’s why the prayer asks for that which is happening in heaven, to happen here on Earth as well. Jesus was teaching His disciples to pray the prayer that brings them into alignment with heaven. You need to pray this kind of prayer that brings you into alignment with His Kingdom in heaven if you want to see God’s miracles, blessings and fulfillment in your life. When you are aligned with His Kingdom purposes,
When you are aligned with His Kingdom purposes, God’s assignment comes upon us. God’s assignment comes upon us. This assignment is His responsibility to provide for us. After praying for alignment in Matthew 6:910, God’s assignment in Matthew 6:11 – Give us this day our daily bread – is His provision. His provision is His forgiveness through His grace, His protection, healing and deliverance. When we do the seeking, God will do the providing. Also, when you and I become children of God, we become aligned to the Kingdom, and we are given assignments. What are some of the assignments that God gives to us as His sons and daughters?
Assignment 1: Fruitfulness and Fulfillment
In Genesis 1:28, God told Adam and Eve to “be fruitful and multiply”. It meant that Adam and Eve were to experience fruitfulness and fulfillment as God’s son and daughter. Likewise, God intends for you and I, as His sons and daughters, to have fruitfulness and step into the fulfillment that He has for us.
But Adam and Eve sinned against God. Then, God gave the Messianic Promise in Genesis 3:15 for His own Son, Jesus, to come and redeem humanity. We also read in the book of Romans, how through the death of one man, all of humanity is now saved. But we are not saved for saving’s sake. If we are, then we can be saved one moment and be promoted to heaven the next. We are saved for very specific purposes. We are to continue God’s instructions to Adam and Eve – to be fruitful.
Assignment 2: Dominion and Rulership
In Genesis 1:28, as God also told Adam and Eve to “fill the earth and subdue it”, God sent Jesus down to save us, so that we can rule and establish His Kingdom here on Earth. God’s assignment for us is to establish His dominion and rulership here on Earth. We are in a spiritual battle and the apostle Paul teaches us in Ephesians 6:10-13, that we wage war not against flesh and blood, but against the 29

We need to align ourselves for His assignments. principalities and rulers of the air. Luke 10:19 says that God has given us power and authority to overcome every power of the enemy. This is the call for believers to take authority and dominion against the spiritual forces. We do not need to succumb to life’s defeat; we can arise in victory over Satan, sin and sickness in the name of Jesus.
Assignment 3: Establishing of His Kingdom
God’s assignment for us is also to establish His Kingdom. God’s Kingdom is more than a
30
physical place. God’s Kingdom is where God reigns as the King. Romans 10:9 says: If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. So, we establish God’s Kingdom in our hearts when we proclaim, “Jesus is Lord.” Also, Isaiah 61:1 says: He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners. We can also establish God’s Kingdom by healing the sick and setting the captives free. The book
of Isaiah says that this is the favorable year of the Lord for us to proclaim freedom to those who are captive and comfort those who are heartbroken. In the establishment of His Kingdom, I believe that there would be an acceleration of God’s miracles. When you and I go out and pray for the sick, the sick will be healed. As you and I begin to proclaim the Kingdom of God here on Earth, men and women will be saved! We have already started seeing this acceleration since our Once Upon a STAR
Christmas event. Even before the presentations began, there were already reports of people getting saved. Families got saved! More than 200 children gave their lives to Christ at our children’s event, Christmas with the Stars. This is God’s Kingdom being established. It’s not enough to know about God’s assignments for our time on Earth. We can know, yet do nothing about His plans for us. We need to align ourselves for His assignments.
In Acts 9, we read of Saul, who was heavily persecuting the disciples of God. As he made his way into Damascus, suddenly, a light from heaven flashed around him. Right then, Saul had an encounter with God, which radically changed him and ignited him into alignment with Him. God knocked him off his path and redirected his life purpose. God gave him the assignment to become His apostle.
food was “set apart” or “dedicated” to the gods. Being a young Christian at that time, I had a conviction of faith that I should not partake of this food. So, I went home and told my parents and grandmother that I became a Christian and that I would not be able to eat any of this food dedicated to the gods. Naturally, it caused some disagreements between us. But God had granted me His favor. Every year from then, I had food set apart for me.

As Adam was quite a distance away from where the priests were crossing, they could not have seen the water stopping upstream. They had to continue to step in faith to cross the river. The people, too, had to step in faith into the water following the priests. They had a position of faith in God and His Word.
It is easy to be in a position of faith when everything is going well. It takes a greater posture of faith when things are not going smoothly or well. Horatio Spafford was a very successful American lawyer. A series of family tragedies began in 1870 when their only son died from pneumonia at the age of four. The great Chicago fire of 1871 destroyed most of his real estate investments. In 1873, he decided to send his family on a holiday to Europe. He sent his wife and four daughters on a steam ship to England and stayed behind to clear up some business before heading there. As their ship crossed the Atlantic, it was struck by an iron sailing vessel. 226 people died, including his four children. His wife, Anna survived and was brought to a hospital in Wales. She sent a telegram message to her husband saying, “Saved but alone.” Horatio went on the next ocean liner to meet his wife in England. As the ship crossed the location of his daughters’ deaths, Horatio went on the deck and with great faith in God amidst troubled times, he penned the hymn, ‘It is Well with my Soul’. This hymn has since inspired many. When you come into a position of faith, you come into alignment with God.
Horatio, his wife and his daughters.
4 Ready Yourself for the Assignment Readiness has to do with the condition of one’s heart. A person with a thankful heart is always ready to say, “Thank you!” A person with a merciful heart is always ready to do kind deeds. A person with a heart for the lost is always ready to share the gospel. We need to be ready. I believe the time has come for Trinitarians to stand up and be ready to do the exploits of
God. The scriptures say: The people who know their God shall be strong and carry out great exploits. (Daniel 11:32 NKJV) To know God means to be aligned with God. To do great exploits is the assignment.
In this coming year, are you ready to do great exploits for God in the nations around us?
When there’s Kingdom alignment, there’s God’s assignment. Are you ready to establish the Kingdom of God in your life and nation, so that the people in this nation can come to know the Lord?

to building committees. But none of these projects materialized. We either did not come into agreement with the project owners or lost out to other competitors in nailing the deals. I felt discouraged that all my work constantly went to waste. Shortly before the God Encounter Meetings (GEM) that started in Trinity last year, I was introduced to a group of individuals. This group needed an architect and landscape designer for the upgrading of a hotel project. I found the project really interesting and decided to seek God in this matter when GEM started.

I felt discouraged that all my work constantly went to waste. 36
Before the first session of GEM, I had visited the project site and by the second session of GEM, I had already made a preliminary design presentation to the owners. On both occasions, I responded to the altar calls and lifted this potential project opportunity into the hands of God.

During the second session of GEM, a fee figure was impressed on my mind. This figure was not a lucrative sum but it stayed firmly in my head.
For almost two years, new and good projects that came into my office were few and far in between. During this period, I worked extremely hard for a few potential projects, investing a lot of time and effort in making proposals
As I was preparing a fee proposal to the owners in the following week, my initial thoughts were to submit a lower offer as this would increase my chances of receiving a favorable response from them. However,
at this moment, that same figure came to mind. After much contemplation, I decided to respond in faith to God as I believed it was Him who had impressed the figure. So, I submitted that exact figure in the proposal to the owners. A week later, my proposal was accepted! And it did not come with the typical request of a discount. Also, I was later informed that the owners were very pleased with the design ideas I had presented. I also found out that these owners, who entered smoothly into contract with me, were God-fearing believers. I was later even approached and offered to take up further responsibility as a Project Manager for the project. The additional role was literally another new contract for me as the owners were prepared to re-negotiate my fees for taking up their offer. God is indeed a God of provision and faithfulness – bringing in the much-needed breakthrough in my work at a time when I needed it. All glory to God!

dropped out of school at a young age. I also started drinking and gambling and got involved with drugs. I became addicted to gambling and had an obsession with earning quick bucks. However, as all my earnings went into gambling, my debts snowballed and I had to flee from Singapore to avoid my debtors. Money was needed for me to fuel my addiction to gambling, so I ended up participating in
human-trafficking in Taiwan. Whatever I earned, I gambled away. Soon, I found myself in debt again and I fled from my debtors in Taiwan to Malaysia. In Malaysia, I continued trafficking Thai girls to Singapore for prostitution. I was caught in a vicious cycle of making money, gambling it away and taking on more debts. Soon, I also owed debts in Malaysia and had to leave for Thailand where I got involved with an international criminal organization.

One day, the police came knocking on my door. I was arrested for having more than half a kilogram of drugs in my possession and was sentenced to 25 years in prison. Upon hearing the news, my wife fell sick and eventually passed away, leaving my two-year-old boy to fend for himself. I was devastated and felt lost. How did my life become such a mess? During my prison term, my sister sent me a Bible, along with dictionaries that I requested for use in writing letters. When I received the Bible, I did not read it. So, when my friend asked to borrow it, I lent it to him without much thought. One rainy day, my friend returned me the Bible and I simply threw it on my shelf. That night, the rain never stopped. I never saw such heavy rain before. The prison cells started flooding and I got worried about my stuff. So I went back to my prison cell and I realized the waters had stopped right below the Bible - everything else was wet except the Bible!

I could not get this event off my mind over the next few days. I felt goose bumps just thinking about it.
without parents in the bad environment I left him in; it would have been easy for him to go wayward.
Soon, I was down with a fever that did not go away. During this period, my sister wrote to me and advised me to read the Bible, pray to God and trust Him. So, I started reading the Bible and praying. Soon, the fever miraculously subsided.
But God made it happen. I was released from prison eight years later instead of 10. My mother is still alive and my son is growing up well and attending school.
The turning point came when my 90-year-old mother traveled all the way up to Thailand to visit me in prison. She told me to ask God for the things I desired. Since gambling made me lose everything, I took a final gamble with God. I told Him, “God, if you keep my mother alive and my young son away from bad influence until I am released from prison, I will serve you for the rest of my life.” No insurance company would have taken such a gamble with me as these were ridiculous requests. My mum was 90 years old at the time I made this bet and I had at least 10 more years in prison. My son grew up
Everything I asked of God, He fulfilled. He changed me. I used to smoke, drink and gamble my life away without a care for the people around me. Now, I work legally and have taken back the responsibility of providing for my son’s education and living expenses. God has transformed me to live anew for Him. Today, I attend Trinity regularly and my prayer is to be used by God for His glory. Thanks be to God!

arly last year, I was diagnosed with a moderate slipped disc in my back. I had pain in my lower back and I was unable to walk or sit for long periods of time. Since young, marathons and triathlons have been a huge and regular part of my life. The slipped disc caused great hindrances to my lifestyle and I have not been able to do many things because of it. Even the little things, which I value a lot, like bathing or carrying my children every day I could not do because of the inability to bend my spine. My doctor also advised
me to rest and start on physiotherapy sessions. My physical condition has improved vastly since. However, on a Monday before a God Encounter Meeting (GEM), I had a re-lapse. I suffered from excruciating pain and my daily activities were affected again. Upon attending GEM that week, I sought God for healing. From where I was in the sanctuary, I prayed to God saying, “Jesus, even if I do not walk out of my seat to the front, I know you can heal me from where I am. For I know You are the same Jesus that healed in the Bible and You
Although I have been a Christian for 21 years, I had never encountered an experience like this. It was as if God knew that I had doubts about the healing, because the next thing that happened to me was that I sneezed. Not just once, but four times! If you ever suffered from a slipped disc in your life, you would know that sneezing or coughing can be an extremely painful experience. However, I did not feel any pain in my back when I sneezed four times. That was when I knew I was healed. God has healed me! The next day, I went to swim 500 meters. And I can run again today. Thanks be to God! 39

This report highlights some of the many activities undertaken by Trinity’s Missions. Such efforts had left their mark and a legacy in the lives of many churches, communities, as well as more than a thousand children whom we are sponsoring. None of this would have been possible without your prayers and financial faith-giving toward Missions. For this, I want to sincerely thank you for your partnership and passion for fulfilling God’s agenda.

MISSIONS REPORT 2013 In 2013, Trinity continued to carry God’s heartbeat for the nations through the two arms of Church Development and Community Development. Trinitarians continued to pray and give generously toward Trinity’s Missions. About 230 Trinitarians were also part of Missions Impact Teams (MITs) that went to share the love of God in 10 countries. They preached the gospel, healed the sick, conducted medical camps, bringing hope and healing to many. Church Development Helping churches transform by impacting their ministries, ministers and members. The highlight of the first quarter of 2013 was the Cell Church Conference held at Trinity. 403 delegates from 19 nations gathered for a four-day conference. For the first time, a delegation of 24 pastors and leaders from Vietnam attended the Conference. They shared that the biblical truths they learned awakened them to see what was needed to be done in Vietnam. After dialoguing, Trinity started the standard three to five year cycle of training and consultation to help them transform into cell churches. In July, the 7 Steps Conference – the first level cell church training – was conducted in Ho Chi Minh for about 50 Vietnamese 44
churches. This was met with enthusiastic response. Trinity also conducted the 7 Steps Conference in Nanki, Japan, Hua Lian and Kaohshiung, Taiwan. Besides the 7 Steps Conferences, Trinity pastors continued to go on training and consultation trips to equip churches in Bulgaria, China, Japan, Malaysia, Poland, Romania, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, USA and Vietnam. At some of the trainings, we received exciting testimonies of how the use of the Book of Life helped them effectively reach their pre-believing family and friends. There are currently about 160 churches in Taiwan adopting the TCC Cell Church Model. It was exciting to hear how five churches in Taiwan had breakthroughs not only in the carecells but also in acquiring property for the further expansion of the church (p62). A church in Bulgaria had
refugees affected by the Mount Sinabung volcano eruption in Indonesia (p48). Non-Crisis Trinity seeks to give destitute children an opportunity to know Jesus and to be developed to their fullest potential. We are currently sponsoring 1,051 children in Cambodia, India, and Thailand. This is an increase of 113 from 2012.
a tremendous breakthrough when they saw about 400 first-time visitors during their Easter care event! Most of these were brought by their 90 carecell members. For many years, Trinity has been a blessing to the Filipinos, Indonesians and Thais through her language ministries. In July 2012, Trinity launched the Japanese Ministry and Spanish interpretation at one of the Sunday English services. After one year, the Japanese Ministry launched their first evangelistic event. They held a J-Gospel Choir concert where gospel musician and lead singer for the concert, Ray Sidney, along with two choir groups from Japan, Grace Impact Choir from Koriyama and Grace4U from Hiroshima ministered powerfully to a crowd of 100. The following day at the special Gospel service, a J-Gospel Choir member who had been attending Trinity’s Japanese service for the past year finally gave her life to Jesus! Two other choir members from Japan also gave their lives to Jesus!
Also after a year, the first Spanish Christian service was launched in August. This ministry has attracted Spanishspeaking people from Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru and Spain. Trinity sponsored churchplanting ministries in Bulgaria, India and Nepal and partnered with Bible schools in Philippines and Mongolia through scholarships.
Community Development Helping rebuild communities through tangible acts of love so that they can experience the love of Christ. Crisis Relief During the recent Typhoon Haiyan, many families were impacted. Besides helping with funding some relief work, Trinity also helped 11 families from our Filipino Ministry to rebuild their homes. One of our MITs comprising the AlphaTrackers also assisted in humanitarian relief work (p46-47). Trinity also partnered with an organization by funding relief work given toward the
We also gave a love offering toward a social project in Romania where 200 children from poor families are fed and cared for at their Day Care Center. Funds were also sent to help in the rebuilding of a school of one of our partners in India that had been badly affected by floods. MITs were also involved in rebuilding of houses in Padang, medical camps in India and Vietnam, and distribution of rice to evacuee families in Japan. Closer to home, about 140 Trinitarians are regularly involved in the activities of Care Community Society Singapore through their Senior Activity Club, CareHuts, d’Klub, Youth and Prison programs as well as Corporate Communications. A MIT of 10 Trinitarians spent over three days to bless the children at the New Town Primary School CareHut (p58).

IN THE PHILIPPINES
Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines in devastating proportions on Nov 8, 2013 claiming at least 6,201 lives, with about 1,800 still missing and 4.1 million homeless. Trinity helped 11 Trinitarians from the Filipino Ministry rebuild their homes. Trinitarians Roselyn Gabayeron and Jennie Maming Culasino share how their families back in the Philippines have been helped.

“I’m very happy when Trinity extended help to my family back home. It has blessed my family in many ways like rebuilding our kitchen and also building a new roof. I’m blessed despite the storm and I know that God will never leave us nor forsake us. His provision is always there. Trinity is really a missionminded church that is willing to reach out to people with God’s love and compassion. It’s not only a church of faith but also a church of action! Thank you so much for your help Trinitarians!” – Roselyn Gabayeron “I’m very grateful and thankful to Trinity for the help they’ve offered to my family. It’s heartening and encouraging to be remembered by fellow Trinitarians during this
crisis-stricken time. God is never too late to show His unquestionable faithfulness to His beloved children. He truly knows our needs and is ever willing to supply it in such a special way that we never expect. This experience made me realize that I need to trust Him more in all situations. Over the four years I’ve been in Trinity, I’ve come to see our church’s seriousness in doing God’s business. Trinity is a mission and vision driven church and I‘m strongly impacted by it. I’ve personally experienced the church core values of passionate honor, audacious fervor, relentless belief and contagious faith. Thank you so much Trinity. God bless your hands more and more! – Jennie Maming Culasino
A team of 17 Trinitarians from the AlphaTrack program brought relief packs to two devastated areas in Northern Iloilo. From Nov 25 to Dec 2, a Missions Impact Team (MIT) comprising 17 AlphaTrackers brought a total of 1,000 relief packs sponsored by Trinity and our partner organization to families in the towns of Sara and Concepcion. Beyond physical provisions, the team also ministered to the victims by praying for them and giving them a hope to hold on to – a hope in God. The devastation is heartwrenching. While families grieved over the death of loved ones, they continued to face the grim, long-term battle of having to forage for food and clean water. They had to struggle to live without electricity, transportation and communication infrastructures. Rebuilding their lives seemed almost impossible as the crops, livestock, plantations and fishing boats, which were
means to their livelihood, were destroyed. Amidst such dire straits, the team sought to bring God’s love and hope to the villagers in Iloilo. Beyond physical provisions, they ministered to the victims through prayer and skits. “I’m humbled by how God could multiply the little that we had. For example, the puppets that we made were simple but seeing the sparkle in the eyes of the children and even adults as they watched the item really made it worthwhile!” shares team member, Tang Peng Peng. Alex Loo also shares how God worked through his prayer, “At a hospital, a man had arthritis in both his left and right foot. I prayed for him and God healed him! His spouse and four children received Christ into their lives that day!”

Nurturing CHAMPIONS IN CHIANG MAI
Our missions reach is spreading beyond our imagination. This year, Trinity connected with awesome partners and has embarked on our second home for destitute children in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Han Mei Zhen reports. Located in the northern region of Thailand, the province of Chiang Mai – also called Rose of the North - is a popular tourist spot for its natural landscape.
“God loves children. No child should be neglected, deprived or abused. Trinity can play a part to see them rescued from the streets and given a safe place to call home. Trinitarians, thank you for making a difference in their lives!” – Senior Pastor, Dominic Yeo 52
Filipino Pastor Jeph and his wife Apple answered the call of God to minister to the hill tribes of Chiang Mai. The missionaries have been working in the community for some time and found that education is lacking among the children. There are times when their parents disappear and leave the children to fend for themselves, with no food or money on them. “I heard the call of God to serve Him in Thailand since I was young,” Pastor Jeph recalls, “I came here in 1997 and saw the realities these hill tribe children face – they come from dysfunctional
families and face the threat of being trafficked. Some are even stateless and have no access to healthcare facilities or education.” Together with Apple, who is a trained nurse, Pastor Jeph ministered in Chiang Mai for 13 years and prayed for a right partner to work with them. Says Pastor Jeph, “After a long wait, I thank God that Trinity came along to share the same vision to reach out, rescue and disciple children for Christ. We want to see this
partnership with Trinity grow and accomplish the Great Commission to go and make disciples of all nations. Trinity will partner with Pastor Jeph and Apple to start an orphanage home, The Champions@Chiang Mai City, for hill tribe children whose parents cannot take care of them. They could have been abandoned, their parents could have passed away or be in prison. When fully operational in May this year, the home will have 30 children under its care. They will be taken care of from a young age till adolescence. The home will have basic facilities such as beds, study areas, a kitchen, offices and a playground. There will also be a separate area where Pastor Jeph, Apple and the staff workers will stay. On school days, the children will travel to their school in the city by bus.
By giving them a renewed purpose and direction in life, we hope to see the children grow up to become Godcentered leaders that share the hope they found in God and become change agents in their community. Our Trinity ambassadors, together with Pastor Jeph and Apple seek your partnership in prayer for The Champions@ Chiang Mai City.

Medical IN VIETNAM
In October last year, for the first time, a small Missions Impact Team (MIT) from Trinity made their way to Vinh Long, Vietnam for a medical missions trip. In that short week, not only were physical bodies healed, God also touched the hearts and lives of those who went. By Han Mei Zhen The MIT trip to Vietnam was special in many ways. Besides being Trinity’s first MIT trip to Vietnam, the team ministered to people of the Vinh Long province through four medical camps. The locals were blessed by the expertise and dedication shown by the team.
Place: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Dates: Oct 22-28, 2013 Team: 10 Trinitarians • 800 patients treated • 4 medical camps 54
More than 800 people were treated at medical camps at villages in Hoa Binh, Thuan Tha, Phu Tuan and Thuan Phang located in the south of Vietnam. Over the weekend, the team ministered in two services at Can Tho city and the Tien Gieng districts. Every MIT member was impacted by what God was doing in Vietnam and during the trip. We asked them to share their experiences. “God used my experience running clinics to facilitate the flow of patients and controlling
the crowds. I felt honored to be able to use my knowledge and skills to serve God in this manner, to bring God’s love to the people in Vietnam.” – Esther Thng, East District “It is a privilege to be involved in medical missions to be able to spread God’s love to the people here. I believe God brought healing and restoration to many people through the medical camps.“ – Jason Ong, North District “A lame man, who had only received Christ the day before, came to our morning service on Sunday. When one of our pastors prayed for him, the man declared in faith that he could walk and he did! He walked up and down the aisle in front of the stage without any aid of his walking sticks. It was a miracle!” – Winnie Goh, Children Ministry
“A middle-aged woman came up to me to share her dreams for her church. We prayed together and even though we couldn’t understand one another’s language, we were filled with the Holy Spirit. We were joyful and tearful all at the same time.” – Cheang Ka Man, South District “The patients were very appreciative of the medical care rendered although what was provided was very basic. Working alongside the local Christians who helped to interpret and facilitate our work made me appreciate the importance of the body of Christ.” – Chua Mei Chien, West District “The faith and the passion of the Vietnamese Church inspired me greatly.” – Desmond Koh, West District
“I saw the love of the villagers for their loved ones. Children were carrying their weak and sick elderly parents and parents were carrying their mentally challenged children into the clinic. I was especially moved by a man who had a grumpy look and hardly smiled. Then I saw him help other villagers, especially the elderly by supporting them in and out of the room and speaking to them in a soft and gentle tone. He truly has a kind heart. He was desperately trying to get as many people to see the doctors as possible, not wanting anyone to be left out.” – Chan Mun Yin, East District

YOU’RE
never TOO YOUNG
TO JOIN an MIT Trip!
Two young boys, Deshawn, 10, Deshane, 11 and their father, Robin embarked on their first Missions Impact Team (MIT) trip to Haryana, India. Team member, Miranda Zhang finds out how the trip brought them closer as a family and ignited in them a passion for the missions field. Deshawn (left) and Deshane (right) helping with registration at the medical camp.
Place: Haryana, India Dates: Nov 26-Dec 2, 2013 Team: 17 Trinitarians • 1,102 lives impacted • 290 decisions for Christ • 2 medical camps set up • 548 patients treated 56
What made you decide to join this MIT trip to India, Haryana? Robin: After Missions Rally 2013, there was a strong calling for me to serve God in the missions field. So, I asked my two sons if they wanted to come along and we signed up on this MIT trip to Haryana together. Deshawn: I wanted to serve God and help people. So, when my father asked me to join him, I decided to go. Deshane: My father invited me to come along and I also wanted to serve God and impact others, so I decided to sign up. What were some of the challenges you faced? Robin: As a new believer, I had plenty of fears. I wasn’t
confident to pray, I felt that I may not be ready as my spiritual foundation was not strong. Also, as a father, I was worried about whether my boys could adapt to the climate, food and the work that we were tasked with. Deshawn: My challenges were talking in front of a big group of people and thinking I may not succeed in the skit. But God gave me courage and the skit went smoothly. Deshane: I was worried the food would be too spicy. God helped me not only to withstand the spiciness but to also enjoy it! What did you learn? Robin: It was really an eyeopener – the condition in
the lives of the people there and witnessing their faith impacted me. I felt sad for the children. Many were victims of abuse and prostitution. I felt the pain in their lives and I cannot imagine the sufferings they went through before arriving at the children’s home. Ministering to them has helped strengthen my spiritual walk tremendously. I’m now more confident to do God’s work. I’m thankful my two boys were also impacted and it has also benefitted me as a father.
How has this trip affected your relationship as a family? Robin: As father and sons, our relationship grew closer. We depended more on one another. During the trip, each of us was assigned a different task. At the end of the day, we reflected and shared our experiences with one another. This improved our communication and gave us a deeper understanding of one another’s perceptions while trying to align with God.
Deshawn: At the medical camp, I realized that a boy that was older than me weighed the same as me. I then realized how little they ate each day. I shared with them that they could ask God to help them.
Deshawn: I grew closer to my father and we did more stuff together.
Deshane: Seeing the children – who lived in poverty and even a rubbish dump – made me feel thankful that I have a good family, house, school, government and church.
Would you go on another MIT trip? Robin: Yes, the spiritual experience was immense. There were so many uncertainties and fears!
But once we placed our trust in God, He took care of everything. My boys and I overcame despite the conditions, demands, food and language. Deshawn: Yes, I would love to go for another MIT trip to serve God. Deshane: Yes! It’s a nice experience and can build one’s faith. I encourage you to invite your friends and family to sign up for a MIT trip with you.
Deshane: I grew closer to my Dad and brother. I learnt more about their strengths and weaknesses.

From Jun 24 to 27, 2013, a team of nine Trinitarians took leave from work to join a local Missions Impact Team (MIT) that ministered to Care Community Services Society’s (CCSS) New Town Primary School CareHut. They conducted a program specially crafted for the children there. Rachel Lim reports. It’s the middle of June. A peak period at work for many. But these nine Trinitarians decided to take leave from their busy schedules to minister to the children at the New Town Primary School CareHut run by CCSS. Despite the fact that none of the team members had experience in working with children, their program was well-received by the children. The three days proved to be very rewarding for the team at the school-based student care center. “I’m humbled by the CareHut teachers’ passion and unfailing love for the children,” says team member Fwee Lin, “Thankfully, even when the
children started to get out of hand, our team supported one another to carry out the activities as best as we could.” “Each of the children has a story to be understood. I felt that I wanted to spend more time with them. We had a fun time with them through various activities and encouraged them to pursue their dreams,” Chia Ban Seng shares, “The experience was unforgettable.” The team made deliberate efforts to plan activities aimed at imparting values, developing potential and inspiring growth in character. Jessica Chong witnessed how the children were impacted, “The children had fun, but in
the midst of the fun, they were impacted by the teachings of values such as resilience, selfdiscipline, love and integrity. Visions were birthed about what they can be when they grow up as long as they work hard and persevere.
Overall, this local MIT trip was fulfilling for both the Trinitarians as well as the children in the New Town Primary School CareHut. Through this experience, the team members gained a better understanding of the
beneficiaries of CCSS as well as services provided in the CareHuts. Smiles were exchanged and lives were impacted.

GOD Builds aiwan
Pastors from five churches in Taiwan testify of how God has blessed them with growth and provision through Trinity’s Cell Church Model. They’ve also taken the step of faith to purchase new buildings to accommodate the growth.
Pastor Zhou Xian Chong Qi Zhang Chapel Church “Trinity has been a blessing to our church in many areas. Our pastoral and healing ministries have matured and been effective in building up our members through the training and consultation sessions conducted by Trinity’s pastors – particularly in the areas of the prophetic and DEW ministries. Since incorporating Trinity’s Cell Church Model, we’ve grown from five to 10 carecells and our service attendance has grown from 90 to 140 people. 62
In 2012, when Trinity led a Missions Impact Team (MIT) to minister at our church, our missions ministry experienced great breakthroughs. The Faith Promise for that year was about NT$2,535,000 (S$107,000). Also, in September last year, we sent out our first MIT of 12 to East Taiwan. We will continue to fan the passion for Missions. In faith, we have also embarked on our church building project. Our new church building is about 15,480 square feet large and can accommodate 450 people. We should be able to move into the new building by June this year. We thank God for all the above and Trinity for all the help rendered to us. May God continue to bless you to be a blessing for churches in the nations!”
Zhu Nan Bread of Life Christian Church’s blueprints for the new building
Pastor Zeng Hui Xiang Zhu Nan Bread of Life Christian Church “There used to be only four carecell leaders. But now, we have about 40 leaders gathering for leadership meetings monthly. Our Sunday service attendance has also grown from 50 to 130 with more than 50% of our congregation serving in church. Since implementing Trinity’s Cell Church Model six years ago, we have grown from four carecells to 14 open carecells and four leadership carecells. This is the fruit that is born through the carecells, intercession and nurturing.
Due to our church growth, the current place is no longer able to accommodate us. God prepared a place for us in 2012 in the heart of the city and we are due to move to the new place by end May 2014. May the blessings that God gave us through Trinity continue to provide all that we need for church-building!”
2010, we bought a piece of land in faith for NT$28 million (S$1.18 million). We had finally completed the design in August 2013 and have since begun construction. The main and side halls of the building will be able to accommodate up to 500 people. Since, we started the church building fund in 2010, we have accumulated NT$45 million (S$1.9 million) already. God is truly our provider! Thank you Trinity and praise God!”
Pastor Lin Fu Shan Chong Xing Church “We adopted Trinity’s Cell Church Model in 2009 and have grown from eight to 14 carecells. Our Sunday service attendance has also increased from 60 to 200 people. In November 63

Pastor Lawrence Liu Taipei Revival Church “After adopting Trinity’s Cell Church Model in 2006, the number of carecells has doubled from 30 to 65. Spiritual Parenting and Carecell Leaders’ Training courses have also helped equip members to be spiritual parents and carecell leaders. We thank God that through Trinity’s nurturing strategies and missions conventions, our church has made a big leap in widening the base of leadership and our church began to grow. As such, the current venue is no longer able to accommodate all our members. We prayed and God showed us a new venue. As we proceeded in faith, we were able to purchase the building at a cost below the asking price. Also, the bank, which normally doesn’t provide loans to religious organizations agreed to give us a loan for this new building. On top 64
of that, it was at a lower interest rate than the market rate! During our church fund-raising, one member decided to pay for all the renovations work. Another member had a house meant for a sister to recuperate from acute asthma. But God healed her and this member gave the house to the church for the building fund! Praise God!” Pastor Qian Li Rong Ren Ai Baptist Church “Just within a few years, Trinity’s Cell Church Model restored our church’s core values and vision. It’s comprehensive strategy has transformed us from a small inward-looking church to one that is vibrant and focused on sharing the gospel. Our church has grown from eight to 30 carecells, attendance for adult service has grown from 80 to 300 people. Through the Spiritual Parenting and Carecell Leaders Training courses, the lives of our brethren have transformed from one of a believer, to one of a disciple. Through the carecell multiplication, they are able to impact their community.
Our church has also started a Prophetic Ministry team, not only to grow our relationship with God to a more intimate level, but also become a useful tool for us to share the Good News to the lost. Because of our growth, our church compound is no longer able to meet our needs. After a long period of seeking God, He prepared for us a place more than five times larger than our current building of about 27,500 square feet. We have stepped out in faith and proceeded to purchase the new building. We believe that God will provide for our needs. We are very thankful to Trinity’s pastors and MITs for being with us in this journey of church growth. May God use Trinity mightily to bless all Chinese globally.”

In the Mission Field TCA students, Daniel Topf and Richard Ong had the golden opportunity to apply what they learnt in TCA College to the missions field when they went to Vietnam on a teaching missions trip. They were also privileged to be mentored in the teaching process as they co-taught the two-week course with TCA College faculty member, Dr Richard Goetz. Rachel Lim reports. Vietnam, a country with a deep history in communism, has recently opened its doors to Christianity. And the people there are hungry for the teaching of God's Word. The team of three experienced this first-hand when they went to Ho Chi Minh on a teaching missions trip organized by the college. Dr Richard Goetz, a lecturer in theology and two graduate students from the TCA College Master of Divinity program – Daniel Topf and Richard Ong – conducted a two-week intensive course in Christian Apologetics for 19 Vietnamese Bible school students.
Richard and Daniel had the privilege of staying with the Vietnamese students in the school’s dormitory and shared their daily life with them. “Each day began with an early morning personal prayer and physical exercises, followed by a delicious local breakfast,” they share, “The daily student-led chapel services were uplifting and the spiritual discipline of the local students challenged our faith. It reminded us that missions and learning go both ways.” Dr Goetz taught the majority of the Apologetics course. Richard and Daniel each taught one section of the course for an entire day,
amounting to five hours of teaching. “Being given the opportunity to teach these students in the last semester of their degree studies was exciting and enriching,” they recall, “We were blessed by the students’ enthusiasm in learning and active contribution in classroom activities such as small group discussions.” In addition, Richard and Daniel shared at Saturday evening youth meetings and on Sunday, all three team members preached in different churches around the city. “Traveling to those churches by riding pillion on a motorbike through winding, bustling streets was an adventure!” shares Dr Goetz. Some of the congregations met in their own building while others in house churches, but all shared a love for Jesus Christ and a passion for sharing the good news. “The genuine spiritual hunger among the Vietnamese Christians was inspiring,” shares Dr Goetz, as he witnessed their faith in action. The team felt that this trip was enriching for their ministries. “Thank you for establishing a college which focuses on academic achievements as well as practical ministry,” says Daniel, “It is experiences like this teaching missions trip that has prepared me to teach in Bible schools. God has opened a door for me to teach at a Bible school in Nagaland, India and I have great anticipation and expectation about it!”

Blessed to be a Blessing As God’s blessings overflows in our lives, it floods into the lives of others. Read these testimonies of how these individuals have been blessed by Trinity’s different language ministries to be a blessing to others. Cliff Lee reports. “I was a Christian before I joined Trinity. Through the years, I have been blessed tremendously by the Filipino Ministry. Trinity has also equipped me with the necessary leadership and ministry skills to serve as a Spiritual Parent and a worship leader in the Filipino ministry. It has been great to be blessed by the ministry and in turn, be able to serve and bless others. Knowing that God has blessed me, I desired to be used by Him to bless others. So when I had the opportunity to go on a Mission Impact Team (MIT) trip to Mongolia recently, I jumped at it.

When I was 15, I left home for another city to further my studies and stayed on my own. After graduation, I came to Singapore to work. One day, my boss brought me to Trinity. Every time I attended the services in Trinity, the presence of God overwhelmed me and I would always be in tears. In my heart, I knew that God was real and alive. I subsequently accepted Christ and joined the Indonesian ministry. The carecell leaders mentored me and with God’s help, I started to change in the

God gave me wisdom to know how to encourage my family and bring about reconciliation. I thank God for the opportunity to serve as an Associate Leader in my carecell and also on the worship team in church. I want to bless others with what I have first been blessed by - the grace and love of God.” – Wurgiyanti Siswanto, Indonesian Ministry “I was glad when my boss’s cousin’s wife invited me to Trinity’s Japanese Ministry. On my first visit, I accepted Jesus. It was of great delight to hear the preaching of messages by pastors in my own cultural context. I am also glad to be part of a community that made me feel at home. Having been blessed by the ministry, I actively took part in many church events. I love singing, so being part of events like J-Gospel Choir and Japanese Christmas caroling really allowed me to serve God with this passion. These were events that successfully connected many more Japanese people to the church to hear more about God.

Through the Thai Ministry, I was greatly blessed by the fellowship and felt a strong sense of belonging in a loving environment. I once injured my hand because of a work accident. I was medically advised to go for surgery but after the leaders and members at Thai Ministry prayed for me, I was healed! Two years ago, I had the opportunity to go on an MIT trip. It was really interesting to see a ministry formed by different regions that spoke the same language – Spanish. The Spanish ministry is a home away from home and gave me a sense of belonging in a foreign country. Now, I serve in RGB and as a Spiritual Parent. With the Spanish ministry, I also find it easier to invite my Spanishspeaking friends to church and many of them have been blessed by this ministry! Previously, I joined a Local MIT with the Indonesian ministry and I’m looking forward to the next one!” – Azul Ogazon, Spanish Ministry

IN TRINITY
From left: Sunil with his wife, Pastor Dominic and Pastor David
Sunil, one of our sponsored Bible school students from the Asia Pacific Theological Seminary, Baguio, arrived in Trinity with a posture to learn. It was his first exposure to a big church. His excitement to learn was evident, whipping out a notebook and penning down every detail whenever possible. Here are some of his takeaways from his short stay with us. Takeaway 1 – Empowerment of lay leadership “There is great trust in your leadership. The delegation of leadership in Trinity reveals how you believe strongly in every Trinitarian a Strategic Leader. Even children are trained Spiritual Parents who help their friends grow in God!” Takeaway 2 – Releasing people to do ministry “Everyone gets to share the gospel with their oikos! Your 72

The follow-up with new believers is amazingly strong. The carecell allows for accountability on the spiritual growth of every sheep in the flock.” Takeaway 3 – Living out corporate unity “Even though Trinity is a big church, the people and the leadership show Incredible Unity. I witnessed how different ministries worked together, echoing the same vision and direction of the church. Not one tries to outshine another. All work together to advance God’s Kingdom.” Takeway 4 – Launching out into the deep “I never preached before coming to Trinity. But that didn’t stop Pastor Dominic
from assigning me to preach in Trinity’s IGNYTE service and Filipino ministry. When I felt inadequate, I received a revelation from God in my desperation – He asked me “Sunil, tell me one person who started gloriously in the Bible.” Something broke inside of me and I experienced breakthrough and preached the Word!” “My time in Trinity will go down as one of the most precious experiences in my life. I have learnt so many invaluable truths that will hold me steady for my future ministry. My field education here has opened my eyes to the ministry that takes place in the real world and has better helped me understand the theology that I’ve been learning. Thank you Trinity for sharing and giving. I have been richly blessed.”

CAMPUS STUDENTS
TO SEE FRUITS OF Sacrifice IN TRICHY From Jun 25 to Jul 1, 2013, 9 Campus Ministry students went on a Missions Impact Team (MIT) trip to Trichy, India. Hear how their choice of giving their time and savings to go on this missions trip touched the lives of more than 1,000 for God and how their faith was impacted. A Campus student’s life in a nutshell – studies, internships and spending time with family and friends.
Place: Trichy, India Dates: Jun 25-Jul 1, 2013 Team: 11 Trinitarians • 1,040 lives impacted • 735 decisions
For nine students from our Campus Ministry – instead of going with the norm – they chose to give of their time and savings to minister to the people in the local schools, villages and orphanage of Trichy, India. As they availed themselves to be used by God, He opened not only their eyes but also their minds to the great need for God in that region. Their efforts not only touched the lives they came in contact with, but they were, in turn, impacted in their own faith. “For most of us, it was our first MIT trip. I was stirred in my Spirit to see the number of people that needed God in India. But God worked through our prayers and we saw miracles happen during the trip.” – Ling Jielong Marcus Seth
“I was also impacted by the faith of the locals – how they availed their time, talents and homes to serve God.” – Delia Ng “We were literally preaching by the roadside, just like Jesus did! As we shared the gospel to people, we could see the people’s hearts yearn for God in India. I grew in compassion for His people.” – David Ng “I’m amazed by how worshipping God goes beyond language and cultural differences! Even though I couldn’t pronounce the Tamil words accurately, I still could worship God 100%!” – Jonathan Foo “The ministry at the villages showed me how much people hungered for God’s love, Word and touch. It reminded me that we should break the mindset of self-sufficiency back home and bring back the hunger for God!” – Elizabeth Lim 73

Here I am,
SEND ME!
It is autumn season in Mongolia with temperatures ranging from -4 to 4°C. From Sep 25 to Oct 2, 2013, nine brave Trinitarians embarked on a Missions Impact Team (MIT) trip to Mongolia. Team member Diana Lim reports. Winter sleeping bags? Checked! Thermal wear? Checked! Wind-proof jacket and pants? Checked! We are ready for autumn…in Mongolia! “I’m expecting the unexpected because I have not gone for any MIT trip before”, says Astralyn Chua, “I’m leaving it in God’s hands, whatever He had planned for me.” It was a journey of faith and total trust in God as her baggage was lost in transit. After all, all God requires is a person who would say “Here I am, send me.”

The trip to the countryside seemed to mirror the story of how Jesus detoured to Samaria to meet the woman at the well in John 4. It was a 12-hour arduous journey by van. The only road signs we had were the mountains and valleys that traced the skyline. The rocky unpaved country roads were back-breaking and promised to leave a vomit trail. Nevertheless, the team was
eager to reach the destination to share the Good News! The trip reminded me of God’s heart for the lost. Many times, we get addicted to the results of every MIT trip – the number of healings or salvations recorded. But for this trip, we were simply to carry God’s heart to reach the three to five people in every village we could meet in a single day. The numbers were not large, but for every one person who receives salvation, all heaven would rejoice. It was a wonderful time of experiencing John 4 when the team shared the Good News with one Mongolian lady. After hearing the gospel, she called her neighbors and friends to her humble ‘Ger’ Mongolian nomadic house - to hear about Jesus. Another team member, Richard Foo who prayed and
asked God for opportunities to share the gospel and lead someone to Christ says, “I’m humbled by how God used me to share my personal experiences and testimonies. It’s amazing how the bridge illustration was so simple yet powerful, transcending language and culture.” “God’s grace was sustaining us!” exclaims Christopher Thia, “Surviving five days without a bath and the backbreaking rocky roads were a miracle!”
Chong, reflects on this trip, “We travelled nine hours by flight and 12 hours by road to zealously share the Gospel with people that we do not know. What is the last frontier? Is it a faraway, inaccessible remote place? Perhaps the last frontier is where the gospel has not been preached. Nearer to home, there are many of our families, friends, colleagues and the man on the street who have yet to know Jesus.”
God’s grace was also seen in Dawn Kuah who was in charge of leading a children’s program. She recounts, “I wasn’t confident in public speaking, I never thought that I could build up enough energy to lead fun activities for children but the children seemed like they were having a good time! God magnified whatever giftings we had and made the impossible possible!” MIT trips always leave much to ponder upon. Grace

in bihar From Oct 29 to Nov 4, 2013, 11 Trinitarians ministered to over a thousand people in Bihar, India and ushered in 85 decisions for God! Be inspired and challenged by how our Trinitarians left their comfort zones and stepped out in contagious faith and incredible unity! By Daniel Koh
Serving ‘Nasi Lemak’ to local ministry staff.
Place: Bihar, India Dates: Oct 29-Nov 4,2013 Team: 11 Trinitarians • 1,172 lives impacted • 85 decisions 76
The Missions Impact Team (MIT) trip started off with a blast – quite literally. On Oct 27, 2013, just a day before the team was to board their flight, a series of bomb blasts shook the Indian city of Patna, Bihar at a massive election rally. While team member Leya Lee was a little worried, she fortuitously rose up in faith and embarked on what would be an eyeopening and memorable first MIT trip for her. The Team gave out winter clothing and blankets, organized a Sport’s Day, put up skits, helped children with arts and crafts and even prepared ‘Nasi Lemak’ – a favorite dish in Singapore, which they served with joy to the staff from the local ministry.
Stepping up in faith clearly defined the team’s experience, as everyone reached out in boldness to minister, with many faithfully doing so outside their comfort zones. “To many people, ministering to children may be easy, but it has always been a struggle for me to connect with them,” shares Amanda Lee, “I experienced God’s empowerment and anointing as I partnered with Him.” Fellow team-member, Nicolle Loh shares Amanda’s sentiments, “When we’re willing to do things out of our comfort zones, God will astonish us and grant us strength to do what He wants us to do.”
Bernard Lee was encouraged at how many took the initiative at every opportunity to speak and pray for the sick without any hesitation. The strong teamwork was evident as words of affirmation and encouragement hemmed in their daily ministry. The dormitory-style accommodation helped foster the team’s unity. They interacted, prayed and rehearsed together in the evenings. In Samson Shadrak’s words, “We achieved one-ness!” The team experienced how those who were heavily burdened and faced persecution trusted God. The team felt privileged and humbled at how they were able to in their own way, minister, pray and be of comfort to them. This was team member Michael Wong’s third time on an MIT trip to India. He, too, was ministered by their faith in God and encouraged by their resilience in adversity. He was also impacted by the
marvelous love of God shown to them and was personally ministered by them. “The posture and way the people worship is so awesome in the village church.” The late Wilson Chia, who recently went home to be with the Lord, was impacted by how one missionary would travel along the river, with a movie projector in hand, to screen the “Jesus” movie. The dauntless lives of those in the mission field struck a chord in Wilson and he had encouraged many to put their hands to the plow and bring in the harvest. “The scene of students on one side of the fence and
village children covered in dirt with no clothes on the other side is forever etched in my heart.” Leya shares, “The missionaries’ work in Bihar is so important because it brings education to the poor and gives the children an opportunity to break out of the poverty cycle. It was a heartbreaking scene, but a somber reminder that God’s work is not finished yet.” As Jesus has exhorted, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.” (Matthew 9:37) Will you let your faith arise and partner with those who have put their hands to the plow?

PULSE
You are Favored! God’s favor goes beyond just preferential treatment. His favor is bestowed upon us for greater things. Lye Huixian reports on Trinity’s first prayer meeting of 2014 where Trinitarians united in prayer for our nation and nations around us.
Favor (Pronunciation: /ˈfeɪvə/) 1.approval, support, or liking for someone or something overgenerous preferential treatment: he was accused of showing favor to one of the players 2.an act of kindness beyond what is due or usual.
(Source: Oxford English Dictionary)
“You are favored!” I winced at Pastor Dominic’s proclamation over the congregation at our first Prayer Meeting of 2014 on Jan 3, 2014. Just earlier that day, it had been exactly what I was smarting over! Favoritism, whether in the marketplace or in the family, brings with it negative images of the favorite child or employee, while others are unfairly treated. But as Pastor Dominic went on to explain, the “favor of God” that we all enjoy – as believers and children of God – is part of the “Joseph anointing” [see box for Joseph’s story] that we have to establish the Kingdom of God here on earth.
78
Continuing his Watchnight message of ‘Kingdom Alignment for God’s Assignment’, Pastor Dominic reminded us that the favor of God we enjoy is not just to make us feel good – it is the anointing of a steward, an anointing for leadership. As with Joseph who was shown favor to save a nation, God’s favor is for our great assignment. As stewards and leaders, Trinitarians joined hands and hearts to start the new year as a family, praying for our neighboring country as well as for mutual dedication between the congregation and the pastoral and lay leadership. Our worship and prayers ushered in the presence of God. Joining our prayer meeting through Spanish interpretation, Samuel Abramonte shared, “My wife Ivelisse and I joined
Trinity’s Spanish service in August 2013. We feel especially at home during today’s prayer meeting, miles away from home in the Dominican Republic, because we are truly in the presence of God. It’s a special way to start the new year!”
am favored – by God Himself – for my greater assignments, whether at work, at home, in church and more!
Three days into the new year, I had a “But God…” moment. I came into the Prayer Meeting after a lousy day but God gave me new meaning. I’m not ashamed to say that I
“But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.” - Genesis 39:21 Genesis 37 to 47 records Joseph’s life story and assignment. Joseph was favored over his 10 brothers by his father Jacob. His brothers became jealous and sold him into slavery. Joseph is sold to Potiphar, a high-ranking official in Egypt, who favors him greatly. However, when Joseph refuses the advances of Potiphar’s wife, she falsely accuses Joseph of trying to sleep with her and he is thrown into prison. Again, the Lord shows Joseph favor and Joseph is set free from prison. He then rises to become the second most powerful man in Egypt, next to Pharaoh. When famine strikes Egypt some 20 years later, Joseph’s plans save an entire nation, including his family and brothers who sold him into slavery. 79

‘Agents’ were commissioned and sent on a mission to share God’s love with the world. It was the biggest turnout of participants ever for Discoveryland events! The annual DiscoveryLand Leadership Camp this year entitled Camp M2819, focused on The Great Commission – Matthew 28:19-20. Our preteens arrived at the Summit at Trinity@Paya Lebar as early as 7.30am in anticipation of the fun-filled and fulfilling activities that awaited them. During the first night session, 32 campers accepted Christ into their lives. 80
The ‘agents’ caught the heartbeat of Jesus for evangelism and were taught how to use the ‘God Loves Me Tract’, SALTing tools, as well as using their own personal testimonies to share Christ with others. On the second and third day of camp, our ‘agents’, armed with about 1,500 Christmas flyers, thronged Bishan Park and its neighboring housing blocks along Bishan Street 22 and visited a total of 80 blocks. At the start of the SALTing session, they were timid and a little apprehensive. But after knocking on the doors of a few households, their confidence grew and they felt the sense of urgency to share Jesus. Some did not
even want to leave when their allocated time was up! Many learnt to be bolder and enjoyed sharing God’s love with others. There were 48 salvations as a result of the two-day harvest by the campers. Some members of the public were very open and listened to what they shared. Some even blessed them with treats. In fact, a family (father, mother and three children) whom our camper spoke to, visited our weekend service the following week.
“I spoke in tongues during worship service. I was really happy as I previously thought it was impossible.” Wong Sean Yew, 11
“I’ve learnt how to be a good leader who helps others in areas that I’m stronger in and learn from those who are better than me in other areas.” Reynard, 9 “After memorizing Matthew 28:19-120, I learnt that God specially chose me and gives me power to evangelize.” Emmanuel Sze, 10
“I learnt that when you are in the presence of God, you won’t be tired or sleepy but feel like worshipping God forever!” Kenneth Cheah, 11 “Camp M2819 has changed my attitude about worship and spreading God’s Word.” Odelia Hiew, 10
“I responded to the altar call for the gift to speak in tongues. I cried when I saw God performing miracles on every camper. Now, I fear God and believe in Him.” Evangeline Goh, 10 “Before Camp 2819, I was very scared to tell my friends about Jesus and always rejected them when they asked me about Him. Now, I’m more confident about sharing Christ to my friends!” Rachel Yeo, 10
“I prayed to God to speak in tongues. Suddenly, tears started pouring out like a tap and I started trembling. Soon, I was speaking words that popped into my mouth. I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit!” Zhang Zi Yun, 9

#ihavedecided What’s happening? From Dec 9 to 12, 2013, 532 of IGNYTErs were found in Lotus Desaru Beach Resort, Malaysia for an electrifying time of encountering God. It was a pivotal moment for many youths, as they renewed their decision to take up the cross and follow Christ all the days of their lives. Brother David Sashi shares “tweets”.

@David Sashi: The camp’s theme #ihavedecided is aimed to invoke a conviction within youths to be true followers of Jesus Christ, despite all costs. This important decision involves an expression through growing in the Word, prayer, evangelism and worship. Guest Speaker @Rev Chris Long from His Sanctuary Glory church, delivered messages that spoke to the hearts of the youths. Many experienced a God-encounter like never before. Aside from the exciting camp activities and games, the IGNYTE pastoral team conducted a workshop which delved into tough questions about the Bible. IGNYTE District Pastor, @Pastor Melvin Lim, concluded the camp by envisioning the future of IGNYTE Ministry in 2014. He called the youth to be committed followers of Christ in every circumstance and to live as true disciples of Jesus Christ. #ihavedecidedtofollowJesus #noturningback @Bryan Koh,19: I realized how a proper study and understanding of God’s Word can transform my life and bring greater meaning to my personal walk with God. My perspective of the Bible and how I approach it has changed! #ihavedecidedtogrowintheWord @Nadia Tay,18: I always strived hard in my CCAs and chased after the wrong things in life. Trainings left me physically spent and I compromised on my Time Alone With God. In 2013, I lost my scholarship due to falling grades and met with an accident that left me visually impaired. God told me to let go of earthly things, I refused and got angry at Him. At camp, I searched for answers for my suffering but God assured me with the word “shalom” – peace. @Rev Chris Long preached that “Champions are made from those who surrender”. Now, I recognize the need for brokenness before God and to chase after God’s Kingdom instead of temporal things. #ihavedecidedtopursueChrist 83

Your choice of “source” can either make or break an experience. From Dec 9 to 11, 2013, 41 leaders from Campus Ministry ventured to Lotus Desaru Breach Resort, Malaysia to examine just what the main source of their lives is. Aptly titled ‘Camp SOURCE’, hear about these three fruitful days of strong encounters with God and worship that lasted for hours. Delia Ng reports. 84

hile praying for Camp SOURCE, the committee claimed Daniel 11:32 (NKJV) over every camper, that “the people who know their God shall be strong and carry out great exploits.” Through activities and workshops, Campus leaders came face-to-face with discussions that activated critical thinking about their faith and personal walk with God. Campus Ministry’s District Pastor, Wendy Chang, began a workshop by asking: “What will be the source of your knowledge if you do not have access to the Bible?” During the session, it became clear to the campers that God’s Living Word should not be taken lightly. To know God, we must know His Word. Senior Pastor, Dominic Yeo, shared the basis of his convictions and life principles as a disciple of Christ. “One can be amazed at God and still not have faith in Him!” This challenged the leaders to examine whether they had integrated faith into their daily lives or merely stood in awe of God’s sovereign power.
Pastor Dominic also shared on the importance of taking on a Kingdom perspective and living by God-centered values. Nguyen Bao Ngan, a Year 4 SMU student shares, “I’m reminded that loving and serving God isn’t a part-time job, but one where I’ve to constantly exercise my faith in.” God’s presence saturated the hall as the campers hosted His presence with deep reverence and adoration. “The three-hour worship session after the altar call was a novel experience! God sealed the insights and convictions built through the sermon,” testifies Ryan Tan, a Year 1 NUS student, “We lingered in God’s presence till almost 1am!” Priscilla Toh, a Year 1 NTU student, also shares, “I enjoyed resting in God’s peace and felt the Holy Spirit’s promise to remove every burden I’d placed upon myself.” For many Campus leaders, it was a lifechanging experience.

“Did Dinosaurs Exist?” By Dr Richard Goetz
TOUGH 88
D
inosaurs are popular creatures today. Books, television shows and movies present informative and entertaining portrayals of these intriguing creatures. Lurking behind all this attention are several nagging questions: Did dinosaurs really exist? How did they come to be? How long ago did they live? When and why did they disappear? Sorting out the answers to these questions is not an easy task. However, it is important in order for us to integrate our Christian faith with the world around us. The existence of dinosaurs, with evidence of fossil records, is pretty hard to deny. However, knowing that dinosaurs existed is not the same as knowing all about them or how and when they came to be what they were.
It’s not always easy to tell how a dinosaur was like from its fossilized bones. Even scientists who study prehistoric life – called palaeontologists – cannot really figure what a dinosaur actually looked like, what it ate, or how it survived. What we read and see in popular media (National Geographic, the Discovery Channel, or “Walking with Dinosaurs”) about dinosaur habits and their
physical appearance are only speculations and not certainties. But if dinosaurs existed, how did they come to be? Most scientists today assume dinosaurs came into existence through the very, very long process (hundreds of millions of years) of evolution. However, the process of evolution has some serious logical and evidential problems which offer an unsatisfactory explanation for biological life – including dinosaurs. This may sound alarming in light of the current widespread belief in pre-historic life through evolution, but the primary method of determining the age of prehistoric life, Carbon Dating, is not as reliable as we are led to believe. Carbon Dating measures the rate of decay of certain carbon atoms which are found in all living things. Carbon Dating assumes this rate of decay has always been constant, but evidence shows that the rate of decay of carbon has not been constant. In addition, if dinosaurs truly did live millions of years ago, Carbon Dating is useless in determining their age because the method can only measure out to about 80,000 years. In fact, the idea of a young earth with dinosaurs has also been supported by recent scientific discoveries. Scientists have discovered human artefacts buried in rocks below those containing dinosaur fossils. This indicates that humans lived at the same time as dinosaurs. Recent discoveries of triceratops fossils with soft tissue and T-rex fossils with blood vessels still intact have also indicated that the death of these creatures were only thousands of years ago and not millions.

Focus The theory of evolution - with its belief in incremental changes over long periods of time - hypothesizes that dinosaurs lived millions of years ago because the theory requires it; but the evidence indicates they lived and died only recently. This leads us back to the biblical account in Genesis 1:24 which states that on the sixth day of creation, God created all land creatures “after their kind”. And this included dinosaurs. There are actually two terms in the Old Testament which describe creatures which were dinosaur-like: the leviathan and the behemoth, both mentioned in the book of Job. What this means is that dinosaurs did not live millions of years ago as evolution suggests, but lived only thousands of years ago because God created them. But if dinosaurs existed so recently, what happened to them? Most likely, they could not adapt to climatic changes. While most climate change theories assume an evolutionary old earth, one climate change theory consistent with the biblical account argues the climate change occurred after the flood in Genesis 7 and 8. Prior to the flood, the earth was moist, humid, and tropical. It was protected by an atmospheric layer of moisture called the expanse of water above the earth (Gen 1:7), which accounts for the long human lifespans before the flood (Gen 5). This expanse burst forth in the flood of Noah (Gen 90
7:11) and ceased to exist afterwards. There was then a corresponding gradual decrease in human life expectancy and the introduction of climatic extremes of cold, to which the dinosaurs could not adapt. This biblical explanation implies that Noah took dinosaurs on the ark. While hard to imagine, the ark was a very large boat and young dinosaurs, being reptiles which continue to grow throughout their life, start out in life much smaller than the full size in which we often think of them in. And the same supernatural force, which called and brought them to the ark, would also neutralize their carnivorous instincts to be of danger in the ark. Another explanation which takes the biblical flood seriously is simply that God did not bring any dinosaurs to the ark, while Noah did not take any on the ark. Thus, the dinosaurs died in the flood. Either way, according to a more biblical time-table, dinosaurs have only been gone for a couple thousand years, not the millions of years suggested by advocates of evolution. But if dinosaurs could not adapt to the new climatic environment after the flood, why did God create them in the first place? The wonder and majesty of the created order in all its intricacy and glory reflects God’s imagination and creativity. God’s presence and power, says the Apostle Paul in Romans 1, is revealed through the created order, including the animal kingdom. And we need to remember that the flood was a consequence of human sinfulness which began with Adam. So, the reason that dinosaurs – great and majestic creatures – died out was the fault of man, not God.

> TRINITARIAN HERO
A TOAST TO By THE PANTRY@ADAM Sharon Lim
According to Acts 2:46-47, many were added to the faith daily as God’s people devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, eating together with glad and sincere hearts. In hope to create a venue for fellowship, 40 volunteers serve aromatic coffee and toast at The Pantry@Adam every week. Sharon Lim finds out from this group of volunteers what stirred this dream and, of course, the secret behind good coffee. 92
What is The Pantry@Adam about? Raymond: The Pantry@Adam serves drinks and toasts to Trinitarians before and after service in hope for it to become a venue for people to fellowship. It serves as an encouragement for people to spend time with others before and after service. The initiative is a service, not a business. The offering collected goes to the church’s general fund. How does The Pantry@Adam make such great food? Raymond: Our croissants are flown in directly from France. The pastry is made from the highest grade of French butter. Also, there was this guy, who specializes in kitchen equipment, who brought us to a factory and blessed us with a commercial oven, a hotdog grill, a chiller, a freezer and a dispenser. How is it like serving food and beverages at The Pantry@Adam? May: This is the first time I’m doing Food and Beverage (F&B). I’ve been making the toasts and have received feedback that the toast is very good. However, I only serve the first and third Saturdays now so that I can still serve as a Celebration Host on other Saturdays. There were times when I went up
to service smelling like toast! But it’s okay, I really enjoy serving at The Pantry@Adam! Wee Kiat: I serve the coffee and tea. It’s very easy to learn how to make the drinks. Anne: I have a passion for baking and I’ve been baking for 40 years. Baking makes me happy and I’m glad I can do it as a service to God. What gives you the greatest satisfaction from serving here? Raymond: When people actually enjoy and appreciate the service we provide and are blessed by it. Wee Kiat: When people say that the coffee is good! May: Seeing people gather in this place and volunteers stepping forward to serve with us. Michael: Being able to serve and connect with people. On the first week, we had to chase people to service because they enjoyed the place so much! Bring your friends to fellowship and connect at The Pantry@Adam. 93
