Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waterways on which we gather as Trinity. We recognise the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation and acknowledge their continuing connection to these lands. We pay our respects to their elders – past, present and emerging. We acknowledge that teaching and learning have been happening on these lands for thousands of years.

Welcome

The Trinity Grammar School story began in the Parish Hall of Holy Trinity Kew in 1903.

Now, Trinity stretches across four locations – Kew, Bulleen, Lake Nillahcootie and Licola – with students hailing from over 80 suburbs in and beyond Melbourne.

Our values of truth, service, courage and community underscore our students’ experiences each day and stretch into an extensive alumni network, parent community and staff cohort who together characterise what makes Trinity, ‘Trinity’.

We want our young people to choose their own adventure, and to build within them the confidence to write their own story; to make choices, change paths and navigate obstacles to define their own journey.

Junior School

The Trinity Grammar School Junior School educates approximately 430 boys from Prep – Year 6 in a single-sex learning environment, and offers a coeducational Kindergarten program for 3 and 4-year-olds in our Early Learning Centre.

Our whole-school approach at Trinity provides the opportunities and challenges, as well as the structure and support, to give young people a balanced education.

Junior School students have access to Trinity’s high-quality drama, music and sport facilities, supported by specialist staff who cater programs to every age and stage.

Outdoor programs, including excursions and camps, build confidence and resilience, and establish an appreciation for the land on which we learn every day.

Our wellbeing program strives to foster an inclusive atmosphere where students are not only known, but experience a true sense of belonging within a supportive community.

Early Learning Centre

The Trinity Grammar School Early Learning Centre (ELC) offers 3 and 4-year-old coeducational Kindergarten programs for boys and girls.

The Early Learning Centre classroom is centred in child-led discovery where children actively explore, question and imagine at their own pace, developing new interests and school readiness skills.

Underpinned by the IB Primary Years Programme framework and influenced by the teachings of Reggio Emilia, our educators inspire a sense of wonder in our youngest learners through play and inquirybased learning.

Under the National Quality Standards, our centre was rated as Overall Exceeding in 2023.

The classroom is a community, and the Trinity Early Learning Centre philosophy is that a strong relationship between students, educators and families is essential to fostering happy young learners.

THE MURRAY E VERSO CENTRE FOR EARLY LEARNING

Our Early Learning Centre was purpose-built and opened in 1999 to cater for the educational needs of our youngest students.

Dual indoor learning spaces open into a combined outdoor area shaded by a beautiful oak tree that creates countless opportunities for learning and engagement with the natural environment.

As the seasons change, our students are active observers in how our tree adapts to the new weather conditions. Autumn brings the discovery of acorns and then the bare limbs of the tree through winter. As spring comes around, our tree is full of bright, green, new leaves providing a canopy of shade for the long, warm months of summer.

Being physically situated within the Trinity Junior School, the location provides access to school facilities and support services, and the opportunity to participate in events and activities as a whole-school community.

School environment

The Trinity Junior School precinct is located on the west side of Charles Street, adjacent to the whole-school gym and pool facilities.

Prep and Year 1 students enjoy a dedicated learning and play space in the historic Roberts House precinct for their first years of school.

From Year 2, students move into the Bright and Watson Buildings and aligning Taffs Oval and Playground.

The close proximity of campuses means that Junior School students participate in whole-school events and activities as a community.

Learning

At Trinity, we teach using the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme approach from Prep – Year 6. Subjects are taught concurrently whilst fulfilling the requirements of the Victorian Curriculum.

Our learning philosophy is centred on the idea that education is not one-size-fits-all. As more than consumers of their education, we see our students as co-creators and advocates of their futures.

We are committed to fostering an environment that inspires our young people to become critical thinkers, problem solvers and lifelong learners. Students have agency in their learning and are encouraged to connect with the world around them in their discovery.

When students have agency over their learning, they:

• Become problem-solvers

• Learn to think outside the box

• Cultivate their interests

• Have scope to be more creative

• Develop a growth mindset

• Learn project management skills

• Are encouraged to experiment

• View mistakes as learning opportunities

MUSIC INDIVIDUAL TUITION PROGRAM

Music at Trinity begins with the basics: listening and responding, music comprehension, composition and performance.

Building on these foundations, the program extends to specialist individual tuition, performance opportunities with one of over 40 groups and ensembles, and curated subject offerings at the senior level.

Students enjoy at least one 30-minute personalised lesson per week during term-time with a specialist teacher of their chosen instrument.

Sport

Sport at Trinity encourages the development of teamwork, leadership, resilience, commitment, sportsmanship and camaraderie.

Supported by the Physical Education program, students try out a wide range of sports, focusing on the development of fundamental motor skills in the early years and specialised skills in the later years.

Trinity’s Kew location includes an onsite sports complex with three full-sized sports courts, arena seating, a professionally equipped gym, rock-climbing wall, outdoor courts and a 25-metre swimming pool. All Junior School students are taught technical and survival skills in Trinity’s onsite pool by specialist swimming coaches.

The Sport and Physical Education program at Trinity is also supported by a 63-acre location in Bulleen with dedicated football, tennis, soccer, rugby, hockey, cricket and archery facilities.
