ANNUAL REPORT 2015-2016

1

HISTORY

In 2010, after many years of discussion, Mairead and Sean Clifford, Victoria and Justin Gmelich, and many others began the journey of starting an independent, all-girls high school in Monmouth County, an educational option they felt was long overdue. Tens of thousands of hours were spent conducting extensive research and planning to start the school. In September 2013, we opened our doors to an inaugural ninth grade class in a temporary location in Leonardo, NJ. After spending three years in Leonardo, Trinity Hall moved to our new, permanent location at the former Fort Monmouth in Tinton Falls.

MISSION

Trinity Hall is an innovative, independent all-girls college preparatory high school educating and empowering young women in the Catholic tradition. Trinity Hall’s core values of leadership, respect, perseverance, and faith are foundational to our mission and work as educators. In a technology-rich learning environment, a superior faculty and a challenging interdisciplinary curricular program fosters leadership, respect, perseverance, and faith. Unique and exciting co-curricular learning opportunities accommodate a diverse, yet a collectively passionate, creative, and caring student body. These young women will be empowered to take risks, pursue personal passions, network globally, and grow as learners – and as valued individuals.

CORE VALUES TRINITY HALL STUDENTS: Commit to leadership by taking responsibility and initiative, serving as courageous, confident, and considerate role-models who lead with passion and vision. Understand the importance of respect in regard to their community, each other, and themselves. They act with dignity, loyalty, justice, pride, and compassion.

Exhibit perseverance by overcoming challenges to achieve success and by viewing failures as necessary learning experiences. They are persistent and determined to push beyond obstacles to meet goals. Embrace and demonstrate their faith in God, which forms the basis for their relationship within the community. Their faith-based education lets them celebrate their differences, accept each other, and serve others in need.

THE HEAD OF SCHOOL Dear Friends and Family of Trinity Hall, Throughout the 2015-2016 school year, our admissions team was enrolling the Class of 2020, students who began as ninth graders this fall. We asked these girls to be part of our “20/20 vision” and, as such, we spoke a lot about the future of Trinity Hall. We are now on the threshold of building that future, together, in our new building on our permanent campus. Trinity Hall is more today because of each and every one of us. Thank you for making a difference. As the next chapter of Trinity Hall’s history begins, we reflect on our final year in Leonardo as one of great growth, realized potential, and strong community. We particularly acknowledge the leadership of our three inaugural classes. We thank you for your dedication and commitment to this community. We thank each of you for the gift you have been to us at Trinity Hall. Over the past year, the students continued to achieve success in the classroom, on the playing fields, and on many stages. Our success has been realized through the hard work and commitment of our founders, our Board of Trustees, our generous donors, our teachers, our families, and our

students – the Trinity Hall community. This collective journey has brought us closer together as we build a school where girls are first, special, and empowered to be their best. The Trinity Hall community continues to grow in size and experience. Each and every individual named in this book can take pride in our school’s achievements thus far. In three short years we have accomplished so much. Stay with us as we focus our “20/20 vision” on the future – the best is yet to come!

On behalf of Trinity Hall, thank you for your support. With much gratitude,

THE CHAIR Dear Friends, As we reflect on the past school year, the importance of community emerges as the defining theme of Trinity Hall’s success and the bright path that has been lit for our future. Thank you for your support over the last twelve months. Without the assistance of each and every member of our school’s community, we would not have been in a position to provide the school with its remarkable new location in Tinton Falls. I am proud to say we are home. Today, we stand together to welcome our fourth class of students and prepare to graduate our first. We have reached this exciting moment by attracting a highly gifted and inspiring group of students, administrators and faculty led by Mary Sciarrillo. I am proud of what we have accomplished to date and excited to think about Trinity Hall’s future. It has been an honor to serve as Trinity Hall’s first Board Chair. I look forward to continuing to serve with fellow Trustees and working with our new Chair, Victoria Gmelich to help fulfill the mission of Trinity Hall. Thank you for making a difference and helping us change the lives of countless young women who long deserved the option of an all-girls high school education. Thank you for staying with us, and these young women, on this amazing journey. Thank you for being part of our community. Sincerely,

Sean P. Clifford

LE T T E R F ROM

THE DEVELOPMENT CHAIR Dear Trinity Hall Community, I am very pleased to share that the Trinity Hall we envisioned years ago is now a reality. In September of 2013, we opened with a ninth grade class of thirty girls. This September, 2016, we opened our doors to 159 students in four grades. It was incredible to welcome the girls to a brand new, state-of-the-art building fully equipped to provide the best academic program possible. I look forward to the year ahead as we prepare to graduate our first class of seniors. This is a very exciting time. Due to the generosity of you, the Trinity Hall community, we have been able to grow and make this school the best it can be. With our STEM focused curriculum and faith-based atmosphere imbued with leadership, respect, perseverance, and faith, the young women of Trinity Hall are reaching their fullest potential. They are passionate learners and future community leaders. As I take over as Board Chair, I am grateful for all we have accomplished so far and I will continue to ensure our future success. I would like to thank all of you for being a part of this journey and helping us change the landscape of education for girls.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead, Cultural Anthropologist

Thank you once again and I hope to see you at our spring gala. It will be a festive event, one that you won’t want to miss. Sincerely,

Victoria Gmelich
