The Headmaster’s Welcome The rigorous pursuit of excellence balanced by compassionate concern for individuals. Trinity School’s mission
At Trinity it is not just what our students achieve that matters, but as important is what kind of young people they become and what they choose to do when they leave us. We have fostered a welcoming, diverse and grounded community in which our students feel cared for and supported. Within that, I am confident that they will be able to express the gifts they have, to thrive academically and to respond well to being challenged intellectually. Our students achieve some of the best academic results in the country, giving them access to the world’s best universities and exciting work opportunities, but academic confidence is only one part of their development; they are also actively encouraged to take up the wealth of opportunities we offer outside the classroom, and we are proud too that they play an active role in building and caring for our local community. The transition from the Fifth Year (Year 11) to the Sixth Form marks the start of an important and exciting new stage at school. There will be considerable opportunities to develop leadership skills in tandem with a greater sense of responsibility, and to prepare as a young adult

for the next stage of education. After managing the challenge of completing a large number of GCSEs, students welcome the opportunity to select four A Levels and will find the detailed study of these subjects more satisfying and demanding than the broader, but necessarily more superficial, approach which they have encountered so far. With well over 20 subjects from which to chose, an enrichment programme and an independent research project, all set within our over-arching Diploma, our Sixth Form provides a stimulating learning experience. My commitment to every Trinity student is that they will acquire new knowledge, skills and interests, as well as a strong set of values so that, when they leave Trinity, we can be proud of their achievements and be delighted by the sort of person they have become. I would very much like to welcome you to the School so you can experience for yourself the spirit of Trinity and its warm, purposeful atmosphere.

Trinity is all parents want from a school and more! The standard of teaching is excellent and the pastoral care is second to none. Trinity Sixth Form Parent
Introduction At Trinity, your Sixth Form experience will be your most enjoyable time at school. You are able to explore the subjects that most interest you within a vibrant, friendly and purposeful learning environment. Our Sixth Form is an inspiring and diverse community with many co-curricular options as well as our enriching Diploma programme which we believe is central to a rounded and balanced education. Trinity Sixth Form offers many opportunities to stretch and challenge yourself, developing intellectual and cultural interests within a stimulating and nurturing setting. As Sixth Formers, you will be viewed as the School’s leaders and are encouraged to develop

Independent learning with outstanding pastoral care qualities of leadership and initiative as well as to embrace our clubs and societies, plays and concerts, teams and expeditions. Trinity is a happy School with wonderfully supportive staff. It is our confident belief that you will leave Trinity after two enjoyable and challenging years, well prepared for Higher Education and life beyond, having made enduring friendships here. This prospectus, in conjunction with our Guide to A Level Subject Choices, aims to help you make an informed decision about your future.
Our academic programme prepares students effectively for top universities and careers, focusing on providing depth as well as breadth. Most students study 4 A levels in the Lower Sixth leading to 3 or 4 A levels in the Upper Sixth. All students undertake an independent research task within our Diploma programme. Average class size for 2017-18 is just under 10 per group. With smaller, more informal classes topics are debated and explored with greater freedom. Every Sixth Former meets daily with his or her tutor, who will monitor progress and give advice and guidance, alongside a strong pastoral support network.
When I joined I found it really easy to get to know the other girls, particularly because of the all-girl tutor groups which help everyone to bond very quickly. I particularly enjoyed sport; I was sporty at my old school, but at Trinity I really had a lot of fun. I think that’s because there is so much emphasis on everyone getting involved. I would advise all girls to try new activities, whether it’s music, art or sport. It’s a great way to make friends. Academically, all departments are very supportive. The teachers will really push and encourage you to extend your knowledge beyond the curriculum. Trinity School was definitely a great choice. I only wish I could have done another year!

Through the Trinity Diploma, students think beyond the curriculum and engage critically with the world around them. We encourage self-motivation and independent thinking, enabling students to take responsibility for their wider development.

Independent Study
Wellbeing
Trinity students are academically ambitious and curious. All have the opportunity to undertake some further independent study in their area of interest. Teaching and support is timetabled within the Diploma programme and students choose to take either an EPQ or the Trinity Academic Project. The projects culminate in an event where students are able to present their work.
Our Personal Development Programme underpins school life. The emotional, mental, spiritual and physical health of our students is of primary importance and we aim to build resilience and offer methods to alleviate stress, as well as to prepare all for the world beyond.
Enrichment and Electives Critical thinking, research and study skills are key to A level success and beyond. We offer a super curriculum which includes enrichment courses and elective options, through which students can extend their subject interests further.

There is a strong network of pastoral support at Trinity made up of the tutors, Heads of Year and Head of Sixth Form. Further support is provided by nurses with mental health training, the school counsellor, the academic mentor and our collaboration with a clinical psychologist who regularly visits the school, with oversight provided by the Pastoral Deputy Head.
Leadership and Community Trinity has a long history of developing partnerships with the community. All students volunteer to work with local charities and organisations, thereby learning important life skills and the value of service. Current opportunities include working at an ecology centre and gardening for older people. Students also plan art, sports, music and IT sessions for primary school children and assist with activities in residential homes.
Trinity Talks Throughout the academic year a series of keynote speaker events are held for the wider school community. The guest speakers are chosen with the aim of stimulating debate and broadening horizons.
We aim to foster confident individuals, prepared for the world, with leadership and teamwork skills as well as a strong sense of citizenship and social enterprise.
Links with the community are extensive, playing a significant part in preparing pupils for life beyond school. Inspection Report 2014

The School aims to ensure that students find studying at Trinity enjoyable so that all can achieve their academic goals both at school and beyond.
Outstanding Facilities

Trinity School is housed in bright and modern buildings to the east of Croydon adjacent to the green belt. The School is surrounded by 27 acres of grounds and sports fields.
In addition to our superb sports facilities and new Music Centre, with dozens of rehearsal rooms, our students enjoy the use of two theatres and a fully-equipped television studio.
Our Sixth Form students enjoy all our facilities, and the bustle of a large, busy school, while also having their own dedicated space.
The Art and Design Departments house a sculpture studio, ceramics workshop, garages, electronics workshops, Apple-editing suites and a dedicated gallery.
Lives in Greenwich, South East London. Studied Maths, Physics and German Reading Engineering at Cambridge The Sixth Form revitalised my experience of school. It offered me new challenges and a fresh perspective, in particular a different view on work. My attitude to learning changed; I felt much more in charge and much more independent. I felt we were already preparing for university; taking part in Lit Soc and Maths Society gave me a taste for high level thinking and personal research. I was encouraged and supported all the way with so many opportunities to perform that I lost count. The best thing about Trinity is that it is simultaneously challenging and exciting, as well as friendly and supportive.

Learning Beyond the Classroom Drama Sixth Form students have every opportunity to contribute their talents to the many productions at Trinity, whether as actors, singers, directors, composers, designers or part of the technical crew. We regularly stage plays and musicals; recent productions include The Importance of Being Earnest, Oliver, Little Shop of Horrors and Little Foot, a play performed as part of The National Theatre’s Connections programme.
There are stimulating creative writing workshops and opportunities for students to produce, as well as to collaborate with professional theatre companies. Our Sixth Formers have toured to the Edinburgh Festival, performed at The Rose Theatre, and visited inspirational cities such as Moscow, New York, Vienna and Madrid.
Music We are proud to offer a wide variety of musical activities and Sixth Form students often take a leading role. For instrumentalists, the large ensembles include the Symphony Orchestra, Trinity Strings, the Symphonic Wind Band and the Big Band. There are many smaller groups, including string quartets, piano trios, saxophone quartets, clarinet quintets, and brass groups. Jazz thrives and players of all levels on all instruments are invited to the weekly jazz workshops. Both electric and classical guitarists are also well catered for and pianists benefit from Trinity being an AllSteinway School.
Performance in music, art, drama and sport is of an exceptionally high standard and is a distinctive feature of the school.
Singing is very popular at Trinity. In addition to the Choristers, there is a mixed Senior Chamber Choir and The Girls’ Choir.

Careers
Most students apply to university or specialist further education courses (such as Music or Art) at the beginning of their Upper Sixth Year. There is a comprehensive range of advice available at Trinity to guide students through this process. An experienced Sixth Form team will support students with their Personal Statement and UCAS application.
The Careers Department offers information, advice and assistance, not only with the selection of universities and potential courses, but also on apprenticeships and school leaver schemes.
Students applying to universities such as Oxbridge, which require admissions tests and interviews, receive specialist training and support, both from the Sixth Form team as well as within academic departments. Some Trinity students select to apply to international universities, for which further guidance and support is offered.
Careers staff work with students, one-to-one, to identify their skill set, build a robust CV, complete applications for internships and plan work experience. Sessions are delivered on student finance, scholarships and bursaries, along with information on studying abroad and gap year opportunities. Regular themed Careers Evenings are on offer and students can arrange top-up careers profiling, mock interviews and make use of the extensive Careers Library.
Trinity offers social networking sites and a dedicated alumni website to keep former students up to date and connected. Many former students return to Trinity to give lectures, speak at our Careers Evenings and to advise and help our students. We are fortunate that some alumni are also in a position to offer work experience, internships and graduate job opportunities. The alumni join us at a wide range of events throughout the year from milestone reunions, to music and sporting events. These events offer excellent networking opportunities for all. When you leave Trinity, you will also have access to a dedicated networking portal that connects you with fellow OTs. My Trinity allows you to re-connect with old classmates and friends, as well as enabling you to use the trusted Trinity School environment to expand your professional network. By fully integrating with social networks, and cultivating a culture of helping and giving back, you will be amazed how vibrant the Trinity community is!
