We want to do more
Change a life
Trinity has always followed Archbishop John Whitgift’s instruction to “teach freely certain children of the Parish of Croydon of the poorer sort”.
Currently 15% of our pupils receive means-tested bursaries. The financial support from the Whitgift Foundation will allow us to maintain this level of bursary giving but no more. We do not have sufficient bursary funds available to offer fee assistance to all the children from low income backgrounds who reach the required standard in our entrance tests.
Help us ensure the School remains a diverse, inclusive community, which reflects the make-up of Croydon beyond the School gates and provides a muchneeded channel for social mobility.
From its roots as a Poor School in the nineteenth century, through the era of Direct Grant and Assisted Places in the twentieth century, and with the ever-present support of the Whitgift Foundation, Trinity has always been accessible to children with ability and potential who lack the capacity to pay.
Funding bursaries requires an ongoing commitment, from term-to-term and year-to-year. Only with additional, regular support from within the School community and beyond will we be able to reach more children whose lives would be transformed by a Trinity education.
Help us offer academically gifted children from disadvantaged backgrounds the chance to benefit from an outstanding education, unlock their full potential and go on to make their mark in the world. Help us raise an income stream of £350,000 each year in regular gifts to the Bursary Fund so that we can offer a further 40 significant bursaries to low income families. Make a donation today and change a young person’s life.
“Education should be needs-blind, where tuition is available on the basis of ability and potential, not the capacity to pay. That is why I am proud to give both my money and time in support of the Trinity Bursary Fund.” Dr Barry MacEvoy [Trinity 1990] Particle Physicist, CERN

Trinity’s genuine mix of students is one of the School’s great strengths. All our pupils benefit from being part of a supportive community that is inclusive, friendly and diverse. Increasing our bursary provision will reinforce this fundamental part of Trinity’s character.
“The bursary programme benefits our bursary students, but it has an even greater impact on the whole School. Having children from all backgrounds helps all our pupils to remain grounded, unpretentious, and able to engage with everyone they will meet in life. A generous bursary programme is key to retaining this remarkable aspect of our School.”
