Trinity Sport

Sp rt at Trinity Trinity Sport’s philosophy Our philosophy is to help every student develop a love of activity and to leave Trinity with a passion for at least one sport that will be with them for the rest of their life. Through their journey of exploring and experiencing various sports we ensure that students use sport as a vehicle to develop positive character traits. The development of the person is at the forefront of all PE, Games and co-curricular sessions. Every pupil deserves the opportunity to experience the exhilaration of a hard fought win and the heartache of a narrow loss. Experiences and emotions shape personalities and we aim to fill their time here with many of them. We firmly believe that being involved in multiple sports is beneficial for young people in

a variety of ways. It helps our students to become more well-rounded athletes, increase their resilience and boost their academic performance. Ultimately we want our students to be happy, physically active and believe that our sport programme provides an avenue for all to achieve this. Ian Kench, Director of Sport says “Through sport, our students build character and develop qualities that will serve them well in life. They learn how to be resilient, how to persevere when the odds are against them, and how to show humility when the game is won.”

85% of our High Performance athlete’s play at least two sports and on average 50% of our 1st team players hadn’t played that sport when they joined the school.

Our approach We believe in early experimentation and late specialisation. We believe all students should enjoy sport and benefit from a whole range of opportunities, including recreational activities. In addition, our High Performance Programme supports students who show promise in at least one sport and are already, or have the potential to, play at the highest level. Our High Performance athletes are invited to a series of seminars and workshops, alongside strength and conditioning programme, nutritional advice and physiotherapy support, which are designed to prepare them for a career in professional sport. Our Head of Performance Sport, Mr Sean King, works closely with external coaches and clubs to ensure that our athletes are both supported and thriving, not only on the sports field or in the pool, but also and most importantly, in the classroom.

Coaching Along with our professional external sports coaches, all sports staff are committed to coaching multiple sports and continually seek to improve their delivery through continued professional development. We are also proud to have a fantastic sport coaching team, including: Former England Cricketer Ali Brown, also a former T20 blast player and ECB level 4 coach. Five Academy or semi-professional Rugby coaches. Former GB Olympian in charge of Aquatics. Four Premier League Hockey players and England U16 Hockey coach. London Pulse Netball coach. Full time Sports Psychologist and full time Strength and Conditioning coach. Our Head of Golf has played in many professional open events.
